We were hoping that grilling technology would finally make it into the 21st century and this grill is exactly that. We bought one for our upper terrace off the kitchen and liked it so much that we went back and bought a second one for our lower terrace. I have to say that the assembly instructions were the best I have ever seen and used for any piece of equipment and the quality of the assembled grill is absolutely top notch. I had no trouble at all with the electronics setup and each grill paired quickly with an iPhone. I did add my own backup rechargeable power supply and that seems to work smoothly as well. Nice touch by Weber to include all the needed batteries though. We also bought a second probe for each one for maximum flexibility. This is definitely a long ... Was disappointed with the construction and design. The back of the grill has an opening, that in a moderate wind, when the gas is turned to medium on all 3 burners, allows the wind to blow out the flame. So have to keep it on high in a modest wind, a waste of Propane and increased level of difficulty maintaining a proper temperature. I have purchased Weber grills since the 90's and own 3. The Kettle, a Genisis and a Spirit that is 6 years old which is why I purchased this new Spirit. This just seems to be less sturdy in it's construction and missing some features , like a regular mechanical thermometer. The electronics are ok , but the base BBQ unit is disappointing.

Works as expected. Looks pretty good, but a few more cheap plastic parts than I would like, and expect for a grill in this price range. What was not expected was the enormous and lengthy assembly. Between my wife and I it took us over 4 hours to assemble, over two days. Additionally it was delivered on a pallet. So the delivery service just left it on our front sidewalk in the middle of the Philly, and I had to run home from work and take it inside in pieces. Additionally the grill does not come with a cover. (Another additional cost you will need to keep in mind.)I have not had a chance to use the temp. Probe.
LOVE IT!! I've never been much of a griller, cuz I didn't do a very good job. I have grilled several times since I got this EX-315 and I love it! My chicken is still juicy cuz I cook to temp using the probe! OMG it's so easy. I am still learning to navigate the app, and I like the graphs and past charts too. I will need to keeep practicing to get better at the app. But this is way better than opening the lid constantly to see how my food was doing. I am looking forward to trying some of the step-by-step recipes and getting better!! :-)
My second Weber. First one lasted over 25 years. That's why I was determined that the new one would be a Weber again.I love the digital wireless technology, it makes getting the temps I want a breeze. For some reason ( maybe better design / components), it seems less affected by low temperatures than the "other" BBQ that I just tossed out ( it came with the house). It wouldn't get hot when it was 0C, or below. The Spirit doesn't seem to care if it's cold or not, it gets hot, and gets hot quickly. So, I'm looking forward to BBQing all year long!It was nice to get access to all the resources ( tips , recopies, etc.).Hope to get twenty plus years out of this one!
Bought this because of the Weber reputation and because the fuel is natural gas. I love not having to mess with propane bottles. I've only grilled with it 4 or 5 times since I just got it. The ability to connect to my phone with the app makes monitoring the temperature and time left to cook easy. It's taken a little trial and error to figure out where to leave the dial to get the desired grill temperature. Seems to cook evenly and flare ups have not been a problem. I haven't tried using the probes yet.

When it came time to buy a grill for a second home we opted again for Weber and natural gas as the fuel, hate running out when the heats on! I think the Spirit is a good grill and packs a punch for its size. The one thing that is bothering me is the electronic meat probe and app. While Weber has tried to reduce the guesswork the meat probe gives off very misleading information when not looking at the app. For example, once inserted into a chicken breast and placed on the grill I would see 900F temperatures coming from the probes indicator on the side panel - with the trust you have with Weber it’s a bit alarming to see that kind of reading while the app ... Grease tends to leak around the drip pan when using the front of the grill surface. The control module didn't work out of the box. There is no room in the cabinet for anything other than the propane tank. The propane tank is difficult to mount and unmount because of the wide front overhang. The metal cover handle can get hot when using all three burners on moderate to high. It takes seven batteries to make the grill fully functional. There is no handle to allow rolling the unit to another location.
We ha e had this for about 2 months now and used it several times. So far it is Worth the money. My husband didn't think this would be worth the price, but he likes all the additional extras about this grill. He really likes knowing how.much propane we have without having to pick it up every time to check. The black finish looks like it will last for years. And the grill cooks evenly. My only 2 little dislikes are that it doesnt wheel as smoothly as I would like it to, and the temp probe runs a little too high. But both problems can be tweeked with time.
