Since I really like Weetabix, I thought I would enjoy the oat version, assuming it would be just like the wheat variety but with oats. However the oat version has an unfortunate tendency to immediately turn into an extremely dense gooey paste as soon as you add milk to it. So as oat-based Weetabix, I have to give this one star. BUT, as instant oatmeal, these are actually quite amazing, adding some water and microwaving creates a bowl of oatmeal in seconds, even faster than instant oatmeal. Throw some brown sugar or maple on it and it's great. So five stars for instant oatmeal.

FAR TOO FRAGILE

Last bought these in 2015. They taste just as good as they did back then. However, they have become too fragile. Just the slightest touch causes them to disintegrate, and you end up with a bowl full of bits. Might have just been a bad batch, but I wont buy them again for some time as a result if this experience. Three pounds is a lot to pay for a box of bits.

Good alternative to porridge

Oats without the faff! More filling than Weetabix - I can only manage one. The only thing you need to be aware of is they soak up twice as much milk and can be glaggy

Great alternative to weetabix when your child can't eat gluten or wheat. Good quality and good price

It’s Oats not Wheat.

I buy regularly, usually when on offer. It’s like Weetabix but Oats not Wheat. Less tasty than Weetabix but it grows on you.

Never buying again!

Bought this as a change from Weetabix which these days tastes like wet cardboard. Sadly this isnt any better. It soaks up a lot of milk which seems to do little to help with the thick claggy breakfast which results!

No substitute for weetabix
31 May 2021

The picture on the outside of the packet is a misrepresentation of the biscuit inside which has a much finer texture and results in an almost instantaneous mush when milk is added. It feels like you’re consuming baby food with no texture. Back to Weetabix for us

Why change it?

As I have to keep an eye on sugar and cholesterol I was so happy to discover Oatibix with low sugar and made with oats, then more sugar was added to this new recipe, how very disappointing. Will use Weetabix instead.

Why change it?
17 September 2022

I'm sitting here having Oatibix for my breakfast with a banana and Waitrose Skimmed Organic Milk as I write this review. Diabetics and men over 50 are recommended to eat oats and this was ideal so why change it by adding "New Recipe" and "Hot or Cold" to the box? Were sales that low and this hides a price increase?

abix- all good!

I’ve wanted to try these for ages - I’ve given up bread so wanted something filling for breakfast and snacks. They are yummy! I can’t really say I noticed a massive difference in taste between weetabix and oatabix but they both taste good. The oatabix also about £2.50 cheaper :)
