There are only a couple of reasons I would not say it is perfect. 1st the plastic cover that covers the iron doesn't exactly snap into place and does tend to fall off in a tool bag and 2nd the bottom of the iron where the battery tray is located is slightly rounded. This does make it easy to tip the device over when standing on its end. Everything else is perfect. This is a huge time saver and adds a ton of convenience to my life. Could not make a good joint between two wires

I had much higher hopes for this product in being able to at least make a few solder joints in projects around the house, or be able to count on it on projects where power is not accessible. I stripped two 18ga stranded copper wires, and was able to lightly tin the end of each, then, I twisted them together and tried joining them. Unfortunately, this iron did not have enough power to heat up both wires at once to get a proper solder joint. I tried a different solder that I knew was flux-core, and also an older solder with lead that has a lower melting point and neither worked with this iron. The design is nice, and the indicator light blinks when warming up, letting you know when it is ready to use. For those who are doing light electronics soldering, this is a great kit to have. It uses 3 x AA batteries to provide 4.5W of power. You install them by twisting off the cap. There is an indicator light that flashes and turns steady green when done heating up. My tests showed about 20 seconds before being ready. There is a small LED to showcase the area to be soldered and a small steel stand to rest the iron. I tested this on a couple of soldering joints and it seems to work very well in making the connections. Great cordless soldering iron for those who want more freedom without the annoying electrical wire! Highly recommended!

Great soldering iron for small mobile jobs
29 June 2022

This is a really solid little tool for the toolbag. I love not having to plug it in. It does get plenty hot enough to quickly melt solder, which I was a little leery about. It uses three AA batteries and so far I have not had to change them over after many uses. It features a very fine tip which allows you to get very precise with the solder placement. Another nice feature is a small LED near the power button to let you know when it is heating and when it is heated and ready to use. This also includes a small and simple stand to keep it up while its heating or hot and also a small spool of solder as well.

My new go-to soldering iron
27 June 2022

As someone who has used a regular, old-fashioned plug in soldering iron for 30+ years, I didn't think this was going to prove at all capable or comparable but I was completely mistaken. In fact, this iron might get hotter than my plug-in iron faster. I didn't time it but in a couple of minutes I was soldering away just like with my old plug-in iron. I also love the cap that comes with it, which sits far enough away from the tip that it doesn't melt when you put it on and you can (at your own risk!) stick this right back in your shirt pocket. I can't speak to how long the AA batteries will last - it takes 3.Two critiques, both minor - not quite as comfortable to hold as my regular pencil soldering iron - it's a little bulky because it has to hold the batteries, so ... MoreAs someone who has used a regular, old-fashioned plug in soldering iron for 30+ years, I didn't think this was going to prove at all capable or comparable but I was completely mistaken. I love the fact that now if I want to solder some wires in my car I don't need a 40 foot extension cord!

Need more heat.
24 June 2022

This style product being a portable soldering iron is a good idea. But the problem I ran into was it not generating enough heat. I tested it with thin soldering wire first. I tried to solder two wires together, the wires got a little hot and it melted the solder but after about 20 seconds of being on it wouldn't melt the solder and it wouldn't bond the wires together. I also tried to solder some guitar volume pots. It melted the solder on the one with the very thin wire. But the other it would not even begin to melt the solder. And so for most small soldering jobs it would not work for me.

Nice starter iron
25 June 2022

This is the first cordless soldering iron that I’ve owned. Is lightweight enough and small enough to keep on hand for small jobs. I really enjoy that it came with batteries included and a little bit of Solder. I like the markings on the keys that are idiot proof in terms of putting in the battery and the cover is intuitive as it doesn’t let you put the cover on if the soldering iron is turned on. There’s a small LED light that helps light up your workspace which I found really useful. All in all, nice little tool to have in your tool kit . The stand that holds it up while it’s hot leaves a lot to be desired. For any heavy duty jobs I would recommend a corded soldering iron, as the batteries do not last as long as I would like.

Not enough power to do the most basic of jobs
19 December 2021

I'm disappointed in myself for buying this. Whilst it does have a rapid warm-up and it certainly has enough heat to melt 1mm on the tip, this product fails when it comes to applying that heat to the wire. Simply not enough output to heat both itself and the wire. Any momentum gained in heating the tip is quickly lost in the wire you're trying to solder. The heat loss leaves this small capacity 4.5 Weller unit unable to build the heat back up again unless you remove the tip from the wire. It may work on the absolute smallest of jobs and the pointed tip looks like it may be convenient for circuit boards, but for anything bigger than say 2mm wire or the equivalent of speaker wire, it's simply not enough power.

Ok
26 June 2022

I really wanted to like this. Since I have another Weller soldering iron that is butane that I love. This just didn’t seem to get hot enough. I may work better on a circuit board. I was trying to solder two wires together and it half worked solder cooled so fast it just got gloppy and this little unit couldn’t heat joint back up enough to remelt solder to get wires apart or make it look better. It seem cool with the work light I really like that and the fact that it’s portable and Able to use anywhere without cords. I just think it needs to be a bit hotter

Ok for small projects or emergency toolbox
30 June 2022

I do a lot of soldering, and this cordless device is good for small projects or as a toolbox emergency kit item, not an everyday use or large project item. The pros: it is lightweight and easy to handle. The cons: it doesn’t heat up very high and you need to work slower than usual. My other irons average about 600 degrees. I could only get this one up to 152.7 degrees. If you’re just starting out or make craft projects with the kids, this is a good first iron.
