Best Puppy food-high protein/no grains

I've worked with dogs a long time and used to work with small animal/large animal vets. Unless you cooked the food yourself, a good dog food (closest to a canines natural diet and that didn't have all the "fillers") was hard to find. The fillers were those indigestible grains that dogs weren't meant to eat (corn, wheat, barley). They also cause bloating, GAS, and excess waste you have to scoop up because their bodies have no use for these fillers. So:small % of protein + fillers =cheaper to makefood/PROFITI researched the Wellness brand and liked the no grain large breed puppy and have had NO ISSUES. WHOO HOO! So HAPPY! My boy never has gas unless someone gives him something other than his food. I'm a Wellness Pet Food fan for life.

Better than what the breeder started them on! 😍

When we first got our 2 big dogs, the breeder had them on another brand of food but I could tell they weren't really a fan of it as they would never get excited about breakfast or dinner... So, after many hours of research, I found Wellness CORE and compared it to what the breeder was feeding and found that it was actually a much better food for my dogs!I really like that it's tailored specifically for larger breed doggos so I knew that they were getting everything they needed without having to add any supplements to their food. They also go absolutely NUTS for this stuff, I can even smell the meatiness in the kibble myself 😂They LOVE their Wellness bikkies and we will definitely be moving them onto the adult version when they're old enough 😚👌

Expensive Dog Food-Best By Date in 4 Days

With the holidays coming up, we ordered two bags of this dog food recently to make sure we have it on hand. The food is not carried in the store that is near us, so we have been ordering it online. This is expensive dog food, which is why I was very disappointed to receive the first bag on 11/23/20 and see the best by date on the food is 11/27/2020. The second bag came a day later with the same best by date. If I were to go into the store myself and buy the food, I would never buy a 26 lb bag of dog food for $68 if it had an expiration date four days later. And I received two of them from Walmart. The pet stores may be a little more expensive, but at least I can see what I am getting before paying for it.

Large Breed Puppy Kibble Review
7 December 2020

Love everything that Wellness Pet Food stands for, and the quality of there food! In my opinion, it’s really the only kibble brand dogs should be able to eat. However, my dog doesn’t seem to like the taste of the kibble very much so we find ourselves adding other food to it to make it more enticing! Other than that, great brand and quality kibble.

Much larger kibble than the regular puppy formula
2 March 2019

This food has been given a 5-star rating by Pet Food Advisor for very good reason...it's an EXCELLENT food. I tried changing my Basset Hound puppy from the regular Wellness Core for Puppies to this one, as his estimated full-grown weight, as well as the skeletal structure for Basset Hounds, made him a good candidate for a large breed puppy formula. Although he preferred the previous food better ( I believe because it was a smaller sized kibble), he did eat this food, but, not as enthusiastically. Even though I did decide to change him back to a smaller sized kibble, I still give this food a five-star rating for its excellent quality.

My dog really enjoys it
18 June 2021

I recently purchased a cane corso puppy and the breeder recommended Purina puppy chow but after a lot of research I pulled the trigger on this dog food and I can’t be happier. The first day of owning the puppy he didn’t have any solid stools but as soon as I feed him wellness all of his stools have been solid and healthy. It’s been a week so far and I’m very happy with this dog food - highly recommend

Really quality stuff!

My puppy loves this stuff. I coat it with the wellness canned puppy food also, for the vitamins. I also use the wellness puppy treats for training let’s just say it wasn’t hard to potty train him with these treats he loves them.

So Far So Good
18 December 2018

Just recently purchased this puppy food for our Golden Retriever/German mix. After doing lots of research, this seems to be one of the very best out there. The serving suggestion chart on the back seems a bit extreme to me though. 7 1/2 cups once they’re 12 months? Doesn’t seem right, but we will still check with the vet. Great ingredients, no artificial colors, grain free, and our puppy LOVES it!

We LOVE this food.

I am so thankful for this brand! We are currently using Core Grain Free Large Breed Puppy, and man! Dixie is full of energy, her waste is great, and she loves her food! We had her on Taste of the Wild, and her waste was orange-ish and runny, and she hated it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We will purchase from you forever!! We also give her Turkey Marrow treats from you guys! She loves them too!!!

Works great for my Doberman puppy
1 April 2023

Diamond Naturals and Purina Pro Plan, which both have grains in them, gave my Doberman puppy constant liquid diarrhea. Finally, I cleansed his bowels with plain boiled chicken and sweet potatoes, then abruptly started him on this grain-free Wellness Core food, and his bowel movements are back to normal and his stools are perfectly formed.
