Absolutely a Fantastic Product for Hard Core Chewers

I bought 2 of these for a previous furkid I had- to say she was "a whole new level of chewer" would be an understatement! It took her quite awhile but she eventually destroyed her first one and her 2nd one was in pretty rough shape by the time we had to say goodbye to her. Still these toys stood up to her better than ANY other! It was a first thought to buy one for my new pup when I realized he was another heavy chewer

I was hesitant to purchase this because I wasn’t sure what kind of treats I could put inside that wouldn’t immediately fall out. However, after my German Shepherd puppy shredded a supposedly durable chew toy from a different company, I decided it was time to head back to West Paw and get a toy that would actually hold up. We’ve had the Qwizel for months and it still looks brand new, so when I saw the Tux listed alongside it as a durable option for chewers I decided to give it a try. I should have bought it sooner because Athena LOVES this toy! She plays with it all the time, even when I haven’t put any treats in it. Despite all the chewing and tossing, it still doesn’t have a dent or scratch on it. As for my fears of what kind of treats it would hold, I shouldn’t have worried. Apples, cucumbers, jerky, chews, freeze dried, the list is endless. Thank you, West Paw!

Our Lab’s favorite toy
23 March 2022

We were given one of these when our lab was a puppy. Weren’t sure what to do with it. Then we started putting a treat in it and it became her very favorite. Now she has an evening routine - she brings it to us for a treat several times between dinner and bedtime. It is the best! Her two oranges were getting old - 9 years took a toll on them. We tried to find them at several dog stores to no avail. We were afraid they were no longer made. Then googled it and found chopper and Otis. Thank goodness! Our lab would have been very sad to see her orange go. Thank you Chopper and Otis!

Our fur kid loves his West Paw Tux chew toy!
8 January 2023

West Paw toys definitely go through the test of durability with our Lab! He loves his Tux chew toy and occasionally spends a lot of time trying to get a piece of apple or carrot out of it. Yes, the Tux adds a little fun and challenge for our guy in that it has an opening on one side that a piece of fruit or vegetable can be inserted(big enough that it won’t fall out of the opening, of course). Love it!

She’s fascinated with this new toy vv
8 April 2023

My new dog loves to chew practically anything. Actually ruined my $4K hearing aids!! I thought my place was puppy proof but she’s a smarter dog than I ever had before. This is a great toy to keep her fascinated and occupied for about an hour. I’m still trying to figure out what the perfect treat is to put in it. She is a very determined pup. And very focused. She’s what I would call a heavy chewer. And the tux seems to hold up pretty well.

Sturdy toy, confusing treat pocket
11 May 2023

This brand was recommended by our vet for our chewer! The pup loves it. The design makes it easy to figure out where the treats are and the legs make it bounce all different ways when thrown. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is I can’t figure out what treats to use in the middle. They are either too small and fall right out, or they are too big and don’t come out at all.

Tough and relatively shallow

This is not an particularly challenging toy, especially not compared to the classic Kong design. That's exactly what makes it right for us. My little cavaliers have struggled to dig more than a third of the way down into the smallest Kongs. They never did figure out how to grasp a Kong to hold it steady, and their tongues aren't that long. They get frustrated at being unable to get most of their treat, and I dislike the food waste. It's also hard to hand clean those things. Whereas the zogoflex gives them a heavy object that's fun to bat around, carry in their mouth, etc and that they can pin down with their forepaws while they lick inside a fairly wide opening compared to the Kongs meant for puppies and small breeds. Whereas the zogoflex gives them a heavy object that's fun to bat around, carry in their mouth, etc and that they can pin down with their forepaws while they lick inside a fairly wide opening compared to the Kongs meant for puppies and small breeds. Unfortunately, zogoflex's opening is only slightly wider than a rounded teaspoon, so tricky to load. Which is my only complaint. The dogs are able to get at about 90% of the contents, and by the time they've gotten that far they aren't noticeably frustrated about that 10% remainder. I can also hand clean it thoroughly instead of waiting to run the dishwasher. The dogs enjoy playing with zogoflex, filled or unfilled. It even has a fun unpredictable bit of bounciness that's nice for playing indoor fetch. The teething puppy especially likes that it's a sturdy chew toy she can gnaw on for a long time without damaging the rubber. I'm sure eventually it will give out. Meanwhile, we've already bought more. Expensive, but worthwhile.

Tux happily tired out the adult German Shepard dog!

We have an aggressive chewer. This toy/mind puzzle is his new version of happiness! I placed creamy peanut butter into the crevasses, froze the Tux in the freezer for an hour. Removed it. Presented it. He looked quizzically at it first. Then he smelled the peanut butter! Oh, he went to town on the Tux! But he didn't destroy the toy he spent fifteen + minutes savoring the what the tongue relished! Too cute watching him busily attempting to get every last lick out of the nooks and crannies within the Tux! Even though we have only had our GSD for less than six months, this style will keep him entertained! Thank you for creating a toy that engages the thinking dog's mind. This is something we finally have found for him where it isn't destroyed in thirty seconds! This smart boy likes to gnaw on nearly anything that is a toy? This means the toy has a life span of thirty seconds and the second longest lasting toy was a Jolly ball not created by your company. It lasted three and one half hours max! So this keeps us happy too! Thanks for being thoughtful!

While we LOVE Tux, it
30 March 2022

While we LOVE Tux, it really hasn't held up quite as well as the rest--hence the 4 stars. Here's the thing--I still LOVE the toy--filling it with treats and watching my Mal go at it is a joy. It's just that I've had to continuously replace them because they tear pretty easily (at least for a Mal) and once they're compromised, I take it away, so she doesn't end up ingesting pieces. (I'm making a box to send for recycle--love that about West Paw!) THAT SAID, NOTE: I KEEP BUYING THEM! My girl loves playing with them and digging treats out--keeps her engaged and keeps her mouth busy with which is why I keep buying them! They just aren't quite as durable as some of the other West Paw wins!
