Great price for a He drive this big, and Backblaze's quarterly failure reports show a very low failure rate for this specific model as of Q3 2022.I checked the drive SMART data after opening the sealed anti-static bag, and didn't find anything to be alarmed about such as power-on hours or data errors.The only thing buyers might want to be aware of is that the sticker on the drive indicates both of mine were manufactured in Sep 2019. That was over 3 years ago. A standard SATA power connector fits, but the drives won't spin up unless you put tape over the 3rd pin from the left. I hear there are adapters you can get to adapt the power, but I did the tape trick. You may need to google this if you're not familiar with it. Otherwise I've got two of these in a ZFS mirror on Proxmox, and they're working great.

Pros: My system immediately recognised the drive and windows 7 had it formatted in minutes.Excellent throughput. Filled the drive from 2 4TB drives and then sumchecked every file. Everthing checked out 100% and average read rate was 180MB/sec.

Plug and play into Synology DS420j NAS

I'm really pleased with the performance in a DS420j 4 bay NAS. Under optimum conditions, the maximum transfer speed of a gigabit connection can be obtained. They're also not intrusively loud at all. I haven't owned them (two HDDs) long enough to comment on reliability.
