It is better than Seagate the same size capacity because its SATA III, (6 GB/Sec), @ 7200 RPM HDD while Seagate is @ 5400 RPM as a slow Turkey (4/3 times quicker)! Put it on a USB 3.0 hub or port, It screams HIGH performance at 10 times USB 2.0 at 5400 RPM. It all depends on your PC and how its set up! I do not have to spend all day copying 158 GB of data to it!

The 500GB 2.5" Black drive I was sent would not partition when I tried to Install Windows 10 on it. Each time I tried, at a grand total of 3 separate times, Windows utility could not make any partitions nor format the drive. I sent it back for a refund. I ended up buying an OEM 2017 vintage WD Black 500GB 2.5" drive on Amazon for half the cost of this new one. The "open box" drive with zero hours (and most likely zero warranty) from Amazon worked perfectly and has been fine now for almost a month being used every day. It's not acceptable to buy a NEW drive from the manufacturer's website and have it immediately fail right out of the box. Qaulity Control needs to do a better job. C'mon WD!

Original drive had significant defects resulting in major performance loss to the point of unusability. Replacement drive appears to be ok.
I think I noticed the ssd being a bit faster opening my apps, but I dont know if it was a drastic speed difference. I am looking into buying a newer/faster laptop.Changing out the drives was easy. I had never opened a laptop before, only desktops, so I was a bit nervous.
The drive I received looks nothing like the pictured item. In fact it looks like an older version as it is all chrome with a white label. The date of manufacture is 2021. No indication if it is 7200 RPM or 5400 RPM. Haven't installed it yet so don't even know if it is D.O.A. or what the actual specs are. Either way I don't believe I received the drive that I paid for.
Have been using WD Black for all of my computers for many years - Never failed me, even once. Seagate & former Hitachi - not so much...
This hard drive was very easy to install and get formatted. So far so good. hopefully it lasts as long as the other WD drives I have purchased.
Excellent product. Quick shipping. It can successfully be used as a boot drive but I'm using mine as a second data drive with a WD Black 250GB SSD NVMe as my primary boot drive. My new build is quick to boot and runs flawlessly.I have always had very good luck with Western Digital Black drives and see no reason to change.
I have a IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad and the recovery for my model accounted for a Hard Disk not a Solid State Drive so I took the plunge and bought the best hard drive I could. This is the fastest hard drive i could find and it does not disappoint. You cant expect it to have the same performance of a SSD but it is pretty close to some cheap ones. Overall I am quite happy with my purchase!
