After spending over $400 on this generator I assumed it would at least start once. NOPE!! Won't last more than three seconds and I noticed gasoline leaking everywhere and I hadn't even started it. When I did pull the string the generator ran for three seconds than gave me an red light for overload with nothing attached. Now it won't start! Read the review people because it's literally luck of the draw I guess. I've read over 30 plus people having the same issue fresh out of the box on Westing houses own website. NOT TO MENTION THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE HAS YOU ON HOLD FOR OVER 30 MINITES EVERY TIME I CALLED. Now when I call the number is out of service. WESTINGHOUSE YOU ARE A JOKE!Really disappointed that I now have a large pice of junk that they don't want to ... MoreAfter spending over $400 on this generator I assumed it would at least start once. Bought the IGen2200 Digital Inverter Generator for hurricane season preparation. I live in south Louisiana and having a generator is a must! I decided to get this one because of its compact size, ease of use, very good power output, and it’s super quiet! I was able to power two standard size home refrigerator/freezer units simultaneously without issue. Love the two USB ports also to charge small electronics and cell phones! Glad I bought it and have gotten many compliments on it. I plan on using it for other recreational needs as well such as youth sporting events and camping. Excellent purchase!

1st- I doubt the decibels they rate it. Id say more like 62.Idles rough even when idling( I'm a certified mechanic).I does though start up even with light pull.Seems efficient ( haven't really tested/ verified )Too many variables for me to judge.Decent price at home Depot.But....when it's running 800 watt ac ( on start .. importantas it draws more watts/ amps) it will go into overload mode n shut off power to 120( actually 117 )Sometimes not.Odd.Still testing.Best things are the features it has n the gas ecomy when idling ,being so small.Rated at 1k running( not starting ) I wouldn't go past 800 watts load.I'll e contacting Westinghouse about the prob n see what they say.

Currently at 10 hours of operation, and this thing is an outperformer. Being an inverter generator, it's very quiet, never getting above 77 decibels on my NIOSH app from 20 feet away. At idle in Eco Mode, it is around 51 decibels from just 10 feet away. I have run it with loads varying from 100 watts all the way to its maximum rated of 1800 continuous and this generator doesn't miss a beat. It's quiet, smooth, starts within the first two pulls, and the fuel efficiency makes older standard generators blush. The best hidden features are that it comes with an oil funnel that threads into the dipstick hole so you don't have to spill oil while filling, and it comes with a premeasured oil bottle for break-in. Keep this bottle on hand so you can refill it and never spill ... MoreCurrently at 10 hours of operation, and this thing is an outperformer. Keep this bottle on hand so you can refill it and never spill a drop on your oil changes. During break-in, you should load the generator with various loads up to 900 watts for varying time periods to help the windings break in. While not required by Westinghouse, I elected to change the oil after 1 hour of initial runtime, and replaced it with 10W-30 conventional oil. I again elected to change the oil again at 2.5 hours, again with 10W-30 conventional. Once I hit the 5 hour full break-in mark, I did another oil change and went to 5W-30 synthetic, which is what Westinghouse recommends for the entire temperature operating range of the generator. I added an hour meter to the unit the day I received it so that I could more easily keep up with the time-based maintenance intervals, and for the $10 they cost, it is a no-brainer.This unit is highly recommended if you need a small generator to run a few items for a long period of time without going broke paying for fuel.
I wanted a generator that was able to do two things. First, it needed to be small enough and quiet enough to take on camping trips. Second, it needed to have enough capacity to minimally get me through a power outage at home. These are conflicting priorities which I can fulfill with this generator.Setup out of the box was straight forward. The unit was complete and no damage was visible. After setup, the generator started on the 5th pull. It does run quietly compared to open frame generators I have had in the past. It isn't light because generator components are not light. However, it is movable by hand and can be reasonably put in a vehicle without great difficulty or using up a great deal of space. It does have limited capacity because of the required ... MoreI wanted a generator that was able to do two things. It can still run enough items to survive a power outage fairly well. I tested it with lighting and fans quite successfully. It;s rated to handle microwave oven and other small appliances as well. Overloading it with a 1hp air compressor tripped the circuit breaker. Resetting is easy. Proper overload protection is vital for long term reliability. All-in-all a great little unit for a variety of situations.
I bought the Westinghouse - iGen1500 generator in February from Home Depot. We live in Phoenix, Arizona (elevation 1200 feet) and it worked fine. In the summer months we do a lot of camping above 6000 feet. The manual said to I needed to install a High Altitude air kit for the carburetor. I ordered the kit and paid $40 to get it installed but the kit Westinghouse shipped was for a different model. After repeated calls to customer service they were unable to find the proper jets for the carb. Also the instructions they provided to perform this service were for a different model and they finally admitted that they did not have instructions for this model nor any type of parts list.
I recently bought the Westinghouse iGeb1500c for multiple purposes but mainly to run a pitching machine for a youth team I coach right out of the box it looks great, very straightforward in initial setup which was easy. This model is very light even after a full tank of fuel and oil, it's very quiet with little to no vibration once running. First start up was effortless and smooth there's a lot more options on the front panel than I originally noticed along with very nice bright LED to light up the panel at night which are optional to turn off if you'd like. Also I didn't know it came with ECO mode which is awesome once you turn that one it's even more quiet all while making your fuel last much longer. Highly recommend this product for all around use its truthfully ... MoreI recently bought the Westinghouse iGeb1500c for multiple purposes but mainly to run a pitching machine for a youth team I coach right out of the box it looks great, very straightforward in initial setup which was easy. Bought my igen 1500 c three months ago and never opened till I was going camping. It turned out to be a cold night and camping without any power. I used the heater not knowing it would use battery power. Woke up to no power at all, nervous about the generator I had to try . Followed start process and it started a few easy pulls later. Hooked up to the battery and after a couple of hours it was fully charged, a 400 watt hr. Battery.so quiet it was like a sleeping app. So happy with my choice so light my 70 year old wife carried it to put away. Would definitely recommend this to friends and family, you won’t be disappointed
I received my 2nd igen2200 direct from Westinghouse today to replace the defective one I bought from Amazon a few months ago. I unboxed and set the machine up for the break-in procedure. Got it started after an exhausting recoil pull marathon and within a few seconds the fuel / engine switch fell to the ground. Not a huge deal but after the previous machine's quality control problems this was a bit ridiculous. After fixing the switch I proceeded on. Further inspection revealed that the throttle cable was set wrong leaving the choke half closed in the run position. I did my best to get that corrected only to notice there were tiny plastic beads in the inner cavity/floor which I assume was from the plastic molding process. I also discovered that one of the six screws ... MoreI received my 2nd igen2200 direct from Westinghouse today to replace the defective one I bought from Amazon a few months ago. I also discovered that one of the six screws on the rear muffler cover cannot be tightened because the inner piece is broken. Westinghouse has some serious quality control problems! 2 out of 2 defective generators sold and delivered to a consumer is dangerous. I seriously question the ratings on these machines. What a nightmare!
This is the second iGen2200 I purchased. I have a whole house Wen generator I use during extended power outages. The problem with a whole house system is the large quantity of fuel required to run them. 16 gallons per 24 hour duration, for my application. Hurricane Ian, a huge multi county devastating storm that effected my area knocking out power for weeks, created a situation where fuel was difficult to obtain. Within a couple of days, homeowners had run out of stored generator fuel, forcing those who could, to drive pretty good distances to find gas. Literally thousands of people descending on the closest available stations with fuel. Stations understandably would have a 2 or 3 gas can refill limit. Easy to imagine the problems with that. Literally thousands of people descending on the closest available stations with fuel. Stations understandably would have a 2 or 3 gas can refill limit. Easy to imagine the problems with that. I had purchased an iGen2200 a couple years ago to cover short term, small power requirements, and am glad I did. After dealing with a stressed fuel supply I started to augment the igen2200 into my daily power plan. To conserve fuel I would run the whole house system for a few hours each morning and then again for a couple hours before the sun went down, the rest of the time, if we needed power, I would run the 2200. The 2200 was the perfect size with 1800 continuous watts, which would easily handle my wife's CPAP, fans, lights TV/radio, etc., it would run 13 to 14 hours on a gallon of gas, it is portable, very quiet, 50 hours of run time between oil changes, always starts on one pull. I also like the power saving mode. I bought a second 2200 to run parallel for intermittent larger load requirements like hot plates, electric fry pans etc. The new iGen2200 started first pull right out of the box. My point to all this is that large, whole house generators are good for short duration (2 to 3 days) outages, but small, portable inverter generators can play an important role providing economic power with fantastic fuel consumption rates.
