We had been using our previous Westinghouse fridge for 37 years (yes, bought back in 1986) and decided an update was in order :). This fridge/freezer is very quiet to run and certainly has plenty of space, with room to spare. There are only 2 of us but feel that it would cope with a family of 4 too. The dark stainless steel looks great and hardly shows any dirty marks. An LED light on the roof and also a long strip of lighting down the back wall, illuminates the area very well. Plenty of adjustable space in the door too. Has a lockable area for medications or other things you might want to keep away from small hands. Love the glass shelves, that all have a 'non spill' barrier around the edges. The freezer has a great twist and serve ice cube tray. We've just bought a second one of these (for a second house). The layout, capacity and relative fridge/freezer size work well for us - only two of us but we have a lot of home grown produce. Others have complained about compressor noise and reliability - so far we've had no issue (one fridge is 3 years old). Yes, you can hear the compressor occasionally but I wouldn't call it noisy. We've been tracking the power usage and pleasantly surprised that its less than claimed. For the price (for white ones at least :-) ), they're also great value.

At the end of the day, like with all fridges - it just needs to keep your food consistently cold. This of course does. Doors are very solid, and whilst much of the interior is plastic (as with all fridges these days), The layout inside the fridge is flexible enough to individualize. The freezer is also well thought out. Really happy with this fridge so far. However it does lose a star for its loud buzzing sound at certain times (about 2 or 3 15 min periods per day). For nearly all the day its very quiet, but something (defrost cycle maybe?) causes it to buzz quite loudly a few times a day. Nothing too irritating, but still a minor design flaw.

Good Fridge/Freezer, but beware space requirements
19 October 2022

It's a fridge that keeps things cold, and a freezer that freezes things. I particularly like the drawers and compartments in the freezer to help with organisation, although there is a sacrifice of space to that and the manual ice cube dispenser thingie. And because everything is in drawers you do have to open the door completely (and more) to access anything. Might be able to remove the ice thing, have not yet investigated. The shelf buffering feature in the fridge door is wonderful for keeping drinks containers secure and separate, so there's no clinking and clattering to betray midnight feasts. The soft-close outer doors is a nice touch, and prevents failures to completely seal the door (or damaging expressions of rage or hunger), but I would have preferred at least a gentle self closing action from a more open position. Recessed handles are ergonomically friendly to arthritic hands. Not sure if a feature, or installation error, but the whole unit is surprisingly mobile. If you have overhead cupboards there are a whole extra set of ventilation settings (chimney space requirements at the back to the wall, and the fridge roof to the cupboard base - possibly common to all modern fridges but I haven't bought one in nearly 20 years, and during research was told several different answers about space requirements and no-one mentioned the cupboard factor at all). Ended up with the dark grey brushed metal as the only option, but let's face it, it's black from almost any angle. Perfect for fans of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but if you're designing from scratch and the colour really matters, keep that in mind.

Hard to review after only 1 month

Happy. Dark stainless finish is pleasing. Crisper seals well which we wanted. Small annoyances as others have remarked: crisper is on small side, door is hard to re-open due to vacuum effect- this happens a lot as most of the time you open the door, get out what you need, close the door, then need to put it back in a minute- it needs two hands to pull door open! Nice and deep. Glass shelves do bow a bit wvwn under moderate load, and I would worry about really loading them up with a lot of heavy stuff

Just what we wanted
20 March 2022

I've had this fridge for a couple of months now and I'm very pleased with it. There's just the 2 of us but our previous fridge was just a bit small and I had to play fridge tetris every week to fit the shopping in, especially the small top mounted freezer. With this one I can arrange the main shelves and door mounted holders where I want them. I can fit the tall things I needed to and there's enough shelves to fit everything else with space to spare so I don't have to pack things in.The LED lighting at the back makes it very easy to see everything on the shelves without having to fossick for things at the back. The freezer is bigger than our previous top mounted one and the drawers make life a lot easier to find frozen goods without having to unpack things to ... MoreI've had this fridge for a couple of months now and I'm very pleased with it. The rails are sturdy and slide out easily. The crisper actually keeps veges crisp! This is the first fridge I've ever owned that does that. No more having to keep every vegetable in its own bag or container to keep them fresh. It runs very quietly. I've not noticed any noise of it switching on and off.I would definitely recommend this fridge for a 2-3 person family.

Perfect fridge for a narrower space
21 April 2023

Bought to fit into a 72cm wide space in an open plan kitchen dining (so it also needed to be quiet). This fridge has good capacity with well laid out interior shelving, well illuminated inside, good temp controls. the freezer draws are sturdy and make accessing all items easy. It also looks good and I've not heard it at all!

Please do your research before buying this fridge!

Please do your research before purchasing this Westinghouse bottom mount fridge. The compressor of our first WBE4500 fridge failed less than 3 years after purchase. We refused the offer of a repair and hire fridge in the interim and requested a replacement fridge under the extended warranty. Sadly, after less than six months the compressor on the identical new fridge also failed! We demanded a different brand and are now waiting on a claim form for a refund of over $170 of wasted food which has gone to landfill. While the staff at Harvey Norman North Ryde have been quite obliging it has caused an enormous amount of stress and inconvenience for my 92-year-old mother, so we'll never buy another product from this manufacturer or their related companies. Unhappy with the product
14 September 2021

If I could negative to this product I would. We bought the fridge on 9th September 2021 and got the delivery on 11th September 2021.The fridge had a small dent and few marks which I could not clean. After speaking with Harvey Norman we got a replacement. The outside was all perfect but inside took me an hour to clean. The drawers in the fridge are very flimsy. Not happy at. Would like return or get a fridge of different brand.
