We’ve had this fridge for 5 weeks and I can say it has given me so much to anguish over. The good - the fridge design is excellent. The overall layout is kind of perfect for our needs. Sturdy shelves, well positioned adjustment levels, flexible bottom door shelf (for varying milk sizes etc) and a well positioned bright LED light. The freezer is spacious and very usable. The x2 twist ice trays function well. The bad - this fridge is loud! The fridge runs constantly with an audible fan noise throughout the day and night. It is passable, but it is loud enough that I can hear it running two rooms away while I type this. Think commercial drinks fridge… but not necessarily a deal breaker. A service tech came out and agreed, yes this is very loud and suggested that they replace it (Westinghouse should be commended for making this a painless affair). However, it’s now 2 days into the replacement unit and it is like we have the original fridge. I am not sure if this is a bad batch (since the reviews are generally favourable) but I cannot recommend this fridge.

Nice modern, sleek style and awesome efficiency rating. We love the drawers in the freezer section - more functional than shelves for accessing things and increases ability to utilise vertical space. Fridge section has excellent lighting and just the right number of shelves. I do miss having a meat drawer in the fridge though (which our old Westinghouse did). Door shelves are good, althought not sure that the siding draws are that much of an advantage at all. As for the noise....it's definitely louder than our 10 year old Westinghouse. It's general hum is definitely louder and then significantly noisier when the motor kicks in. Slowly getting used to it but would be a 5 star fridge if not for the noise.

The fridge has a very nice finish inside, with lights at the top and light strip down the back so can easily see all your items. The shelves have handy spill proof edges. It can easily fit tall pots and large items. The outside finish is also seamless. The freezer has very good size draws perfect for fitting meats, frozen veggies, bread and ice cream. Its also quiet when the motor is running. I’m so happy with this fridge. My previous fridges have all been Westinghouse, so very happy with this brand.

I bought this as a replacement for my last Westinghouse Fridge which died after 8 yrs. I was initially looking to change brands as the door actually fell off my last Westinghouse! The hinge snapped. luckily my children are now grown up and are no longer crawling on the Kitchen floor! Any way...I was looking at other brands, but Westinghouse still wins on layout, so I bought this model which is basically what I had before, with a few slight improvements. Just beware of the depth as most fridges of this size have now gone up approx 5cm deeper, from around 67cm in the past to now 72cm + 5cm for the handle. My kitchen isn't brand new, and this fridge sits out beyond my cabinets which is a bit of a pain, but I really didn't have any other options. That aside, the fridge looks great and has a great layout. I like that the shelves are still "framed" to protect any spills from dripping down throughout the other shelves. All the other brands I looked at just have glass shelves with the plastic rim at the front. I store large milk bottles flat on the bottom shelf and occasionally one will leak, and I don't want that going into the vege bin. The freezer size is okay, but with a family of 4 or 5 there is only enough room for a weeks shopping, that's including a couple of loaves of bread and a tub of ice cream. (I have a small chest freezer in the garage which solves that). Noise...well in my opinion all fridges are noisier than they used to be. The high speed compressor is pretty loud when it fires up. We have a small open plan kitchen, dining and lounge and you can definitely hear the fridge when the compressor is running at high speed which is annoying. It's a high pitched buzz, but it doesn't run like like constantly. When the fridge is cool, it switches to a low hum which is okay. I had an inverter fridge for 2 days (prior to my last Westinghouse) which I returned because I couldn't stand the high pitched frequency that it made. You just don't know these things until you get the fridge home. If you like fridge magnets, then go for gold! Magnets work on this door. I would have given 5 stars, if the dimension wasn't so deep, as in my opinion the people looking for this size fridge are most likely working within an existing space and it would rather sacrifice the bit of extra room and have the option to push the fridge in or out from the wall to sit within their space. And the noise is a bit of a pain at times.
This fridge is exactly what I was looking for. It's spacious. I will never go back to having the freezer at the top again. We access the fridge more often so it makes sense to have it at the top! There are multiple lights inside the fridge rather than just one. There's a lockable compartment ideal for storing medications. Ice cube maker. Door alarm if its been left open too long. Highly recommend.
Overall we are quite happy with the fridge but there are things that could be better. We like the look and size and the freezer drawers especially are excellent (as is the ice maker). Things that could be improved include the inverter motor which has an intrusive high pitched sound at different times. The spacing of the shelves and door compartments could do with more options as the spacing between selections is a bit to wide. The crisper drawer is quite jerky and would benefit from ‘runners’ like in the freezer. Finally, we are getting a bit of ice in the crisper with some vegetables freezing. We are hesitant to turn down the temp to lower than recommended for safe food preservation. If this persists we will probably need to contact the manufacturer.
I bought this fridge in February 2021. It performed adequately until July 2022, then the freezer would not freeze properly. First technician said everything was fine and reset the temperatures. 2 weeks later the freezer section was frosting up and no cold air in the fridge section. Fridge section was warm, subsequently I had to use eskys for my milk and dairy products. The second technician chipped the ice away from behind the panel in the freezer and that was it. Two weeks later freezer was iced again and same problem. Third technician cleared the ice build up and told me to manually defrost for 24 hours. Four weeks later, same problem. Fourth technician finally wrote off the fridge. I am now still waiting for the delivery of the replacement fridge.
The motor on my Aurora Westinghouse 500L refrigerator, which I had for nearly 30 years, couldn't be repaired/replaced so I had to get a new refrigerator. It was a toss up between a Fisher & Paykel vs Westinghouse. I liked the fridge racks and freezer compartments in the Fisher & Paykel, however the energy rating and price (bought from Appliances Online) made me buy the Westinghouse. Pros - much quieter than my old refrigerator, more energy efficient, has a specific slot for ice tray in the freezer, easy to move for cleaning under fridge, easy shelf cleaning, nice array of door storage options, beeps remind me if the door is open for too long Cons - still getting used to glass shelves (I prefer my previous fridge racks) as I wonder when putting heavy things on them ... MoreThe motor on my Aurora Westinghouse 500L refrigerator, which I had for nearly 30 years, couldn't be repaired/replaced so I had to get a new refrigerator. My old fridge had 2 converter bins and a basket on the bottom fridge level, so I could put fruit & veg in one converter, meat in the other and use the basket for heavy/bulky items such as bottles. One long drawer in the new fridge, meant only for fruit & veg, where do I put meat????? Freezer storage seems to fit a lot less compared to the top rack and 2 pull out baskets from my previous freezer. Great service from Appliances Online. Ordered refrigerator from their website, picked a day that suited me for delivery. Guys brought in new fridge, took old fridge away, very easy and great customer service! Also very happy to note that the service fee paid for repairman to advise my old refrigerator couldn't be repaired/motor replaced, was refunded by Electrolux when I purchased my new Westinghouse Refrigerator - thank you for that :-)
Six months experience now and I would not recommend. There's three main issues: - Poor temperature control. Liquids in the door are 8-9C when the vegetables in the crisper are frozen. The temperature varies widely across the fridge and it's difficult to keep food safe but not frozen. - Poor humidity control. Freezer is constantly icing up, while the contents of the fridge go mouldy due to high humidity. - Noisy. There's a loud vibration when the fridge is running that you can hear throughout the house. Build quality is otherwise OK, nothing remarkable, but it was cheap. Only ended up with this fridge as I needed a LH hinge fridge in a hurry and everything else was out of stock. We've wasted so much food with everything either freezing or going mouldy way ahead of ... MoreSix months experience now and I would not recommend. Disappointed as we bought it even though the fridge was bit expensive compared to other brands for its quality. Brand has no meaning these days. waiting for the technician once again - since its minor issue they should be able to fix it i guess.
