I have always bought Westinghouse products, and previously found them to be reliable and of good quality. I bought one of the last of these side by side units, still Australian made, about five years ago. The problems began almost immediately. First the freezer door seal cracked. The ice tray kept falling off randomly. The gap between the doors became so hot the painted finish melted. The compressor failed four times over the first three years causing all the food to be spoiled. The operating noise from day one caused the fridge to need to be relocated out of the kitchen as it was keeping us awake. Various repair people arrived, did minor works and got the fridge working, but really nothing ever was resolved. After the warranty (which I now know is actually invalid in NSW according to fair trading), expired, I paid to replace the motor twice, wrote off two more freezerloads of food and replaced the floor that had been damaged by the meat leaking during the unplanned defrost (whilst I was away for five weeks in hospital), I gave up. The fridge has been scrapped. I still await a callback from service from last week (and the week before), as I thought a reputable company like Westinghouse might like to review the history and have a look at the fridge before it departed forever, but apparently not. They have my money, I have had to buy a new fridge, but at least it's able to be in the kitchen, and we're all able to sleep at last....

I purchased this fridge for a number of reasons, first was the price - I thought I was going to have to pay about $2000 for a side by side fridge that would fit perfectly into the available space in my kitchen but this one was under $1500. Also I wanted white not stainless steel and so that is the second reason I purchased it. Thirdly, my family has always liked the westinghouse brand so I decided to stick with that. So far I love everything about it, I cannot think of a single negative thing to say.

I bought this fridge during lockdown so didn't see in in person, but when you look at the photos on the website it showed more shelving than what was actually included. After querying this with store and rep. It was confirmed that the white model has less shelving than stainless steel model & what I have was correct?? I also bought this model as I had the exact same earlier model which was slightly smaller in litres and was happy with that. However this new fridge is actually smaller inside. The depth is much less than previous fridge so can't fit same quantity of items in the newer fridge? Also the temperature of the milk is not cold enough like older fridge. The flexstore shelves on door are useless as they don't fit the same quantity of jars etc as old design. ... MoreI bought this fridge during lockdown so didn't see in in person, but when you look at the photos on the website it showed more shelving than what was actually included. After querying this with store and rep. I bought this around 5 months ago. It's been excellent. Actually quiet, unlike the other fridge we have in our Butlers kitchen. Looks very sleek and minimalistic . The white finish is a smooth satin one so looks modern, not old fashioned. Only decent modern White side by side available at a great price. Good job of cooling and freezing. Good space in both fridge and freezer. Recommended.
This fridge is not designed to be built in. It is necessary to project it out from the cupboards by about 150mm in order to allow the doors to open. This looks ugly - as if the kitchen designer made a mistake. It is necessary to open the doors 135 degrees to gain easy access and in order to remove the shelves and crispers. This means that the fridge must be located about 300mm from a return wall or cupboard on the right hand side and about 150mm on the left hand side.Buyer beware- If you intend to locate this fridge against an end wall, the fridge door will not open. This fridge will not mount flush with your cupboards.Although the fridge has nice flat modern doors, the door handles resemble a long-bow designed by Robin Hood, and detract from the appearance. ... MoreThis fridge is not designed to be built in. We bought this fridge some 12 months ago after a bad run with another brand's two door fridge. We have had Westinghouse fridges before, the last one is some 25 years old and still working extremely well as a secondary fridge. This latest fridge had some very interesting features like very thick doors which could hold a substantial amount of food, as well as well thought out shelving arrangements which were not flimsy like other brands and of suitable size. Admittedly it does make strange noises on occasion, but you are warned about this in the handbook and it is not really annoying. The settings are simple, protected and direct and are very easily changed. The effectiveness of the fridge itself is very good and well above normal. A major point is that it fitted in ... MoreWe bought this fridge some 12 months ago after a bad run with another brand's two door fridge. Pros: Elegant design with side by side fridge and freezer compartmentsCons: We replaced a 540L Westinghouse fridge+freezer with this 620 L new model. We liked the look and were aware that while we were increasing the freezer capacity, our fridge capacity was reduced a little. However, we didn't expect this to be a significant drop. However, what we learned since starting to use this new fridge is that the narrow shelves limit how much you can keep in the fridge so much. We used have so much food containers in our old fridge as the wide shelves allowed easy storage of even food in large saucepans. However, with this model, the fridge space is not that versatile. So, despite the elegant looks of this new fridge, we wish we had got the older style of top freezer and ... MorePros: Elegant design with side by side fridge and freezer compartmentsCons: We replaced a 540L Westinghouse fridge+freezer with this 620 L new model. Review of a fridge I have for a few days .... hold your breath.Looks new, smells new, works like new. Like expected. The one negative thing all modern fridges have are the thickness of the doors which means they can't be pushed into the cavity. Well you could but then you can't open the doors. so the fridge sticks out a lot breaking the smooth design and flow of the kitchen. They all do no matter what brand of model... as far as I have seen.Hey, Harvey Norman should have asked to provide a review for their service which I have experienced from start to end. I could give meaningful feedback but in a nutshell ....awesome, their partner pulled it all together for us.3 stars for the fridge today, might go up or down in the future. Not sure if anybody will ask me ... MoreReview of a fridge I have for a few days .... hold your breath.Looks new, smells new, works like new. This was a replacement for my 10 year old WSE6100SA, which I presume was a predecessor of my new unit.I am mostly happy, except for a few things that I don't think are as good as my previous fridge/freezer.I am pleased with the quiet running, the brighter lighting, the good door storage and crisper bins, the variable positioning of shelving.Things I don't like: the FlexStor bins fit two across, which do not allow as much storage as my previous fridge, which had one across the width of the fridge door. Also, I don't like the Twist and Serve ice maker (I do not have the ice and water dispenser model). I think it is a bit gimmicky and, for my needs, takes up unnecessary space, leaving limited space at the side and another small space below. I think it is a bit gimmicky and, for my needs, takes up unnecessary space, leaving limited space at the side and another small space below. I preferred the full width ice cube tray bin, which could hold ice cube trays and ice bricks as well, within a contained space.Another aspect, which is purely personal, is that the fridge size is larger than before (in the WSE6100SA) but the freezer smaller. As I am now on my own, I don't need a lot of fridge space but do freeze a lot of cooked meals in portions, as well as the other usual frozen items. It is difficult to buy a fridge/freezer which has a freezer larger than the fridge. Maybe this could be a new model to produce? I realise that I am probably in the minority in this but it may be food for thought and survey. Also, I notice that the holiday mode is no longer part of this new model. Maybe the design does not need minimized defrosting. I hope so, as I thought the holiday mode was a good feature.Overall though, I am very pleased with my new fridge/freezer.
A very nice Fridge/Freezer - 'Side-by-Side' Configuration.Internals well thought out with practical features.External is a nice finish with Stainless Steel and great looking handles.Advantages of having the Freezer section upright in this type of configuration over the pull out Freezer Drawer on the bottom of 'French Door' type configurations.1. Can easily organise items in layers with individual adjustable glass shelves. (Can also keep chilled a bottle of opened wine / champagne upright on the inside of the door).2. Can easily reach an item. So don't have to bend down and then have to lift heavier items stacked on top of each other to find what you want underneath. This size is great for 3 - 4 people in a household.
