Sendak's much-loved favourite, a best-seller and an acknowledged classic of twentieth-century children's picture books. One night Max puts on his wolf suit and makes mischief of one kind and another, so his mother calls him 'Wild Thing' and sends him to bed without his supper. That night a forest begins to grow in Max's room and an ocean rushes by with a boat to take Max to the place where the wild things are. Max tames the wild things and crowns himself as their king, and then the wild rumpus begins! But when Max has sent the monsters to bed, and everything is quiet, he starts to feel lonely and realises it is time to sail home to the place where someone loves him best of all. Maurice Sendak was born in Brooklyn, New York. He began by illustrating other authors' books for children, but the first book that he both wrote and illustrated was Kenny's Window, published in 1956. In his lifetime, he illustrated over 80 books, and received many awards, including the 1964 Caldecott Medal for Where the Wild Things Are. In 1970 he was the first American to win the Hans Christian Andersen Illustrator's Medal. He passed away in May 2012.

In 2003, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself" from the film, 8 Mile, in which he also played the lead. "Lose Yourself" would go on to become the longest running No. 1 hip hop single.[3] Eminem then went on hiatus after touring in 2005. He released his first album since 2004's Encore, titled Relapse, on May 15, 2009. Eminem is the best-selling artist of the decade on the US Nielsen SoundScan,[4] and has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide to date, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world.[5] In 2010, Eminem released his seventh studio album Recovery. It became Eminem's sixth consecutive number-one album in the US and achieved international commercial success, charting at number one in several other countries. It stayed at number-one on the US Billboard 200 chart for five consecutive weeks and a total of seven weeks.[6][7] Recovery was also reported by Billboard to be the best-selling album of 2010, making Eminem the first artist in Nielsen SoundScan history to have two year-end best-selling albums.[8] Recovery is also the best selling digital album in history.[9] In 2005, Eminem was ranked 79th on the VH1 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time.[10] He was also ranked 82nd on Rolling Stone magazi 3

This book is beautifully illustrated and a good story exploring imagination/dreams. The story is a bit scary for younger kids but at 2 yrs old my son loved it even though the 'wild things' clearly scared him a little. We have read this book over and over for 8 months now and I think it will remain amongst the frequently requested books for the foreseeable future.

A beautifully illustrated book, received in perfect condition! I have read some reviews of this book where people have questioned the 'ethics' and rights/wrongs of depicting a boy misbehaving, and being sent to bed without supper. Only to have his supper left for him in his bedroom once he has completed his amazingly imaginative adventure... but no matter, I ordered it anyway! From having read through it, I think the little boy learns his lesson, and besides, it shows the boy has imagination, and may just have been misunderstood and frustrated... anyway, it's a modern classic kids book... so who am I to question whether it makes perfect sense or not! I'm just glad "...it wasn't all a dream..." oh, hang on, was it??

This book is an awesome mixture of childhood memories and nostalgia that causes me to reminence on the freedom and ease of being a child. Being able to imagine a whole world of my own is something that has been lost to me for ahwile now, no longer can i get lost in my own thought or my own world. This book is a good reminder to never lose your inner child and to never give up your creativity. The main character of the book is a child who is still in his pro-operational stages, he is able to still dive deep into his imagination and have all the fun in the world playing by himself. Yet, he is also able to comprehend room models and layouts, hes able to remember where specific spots where the wild things live and then also his own house. Great kid;s book. Good educational story. Easy read that gets a child's attention. Excellent, colorful pictures. I will enjoy reading this over and over to my grandchildren.
Such a classic book. My son loves it and I enjoy the illustrations. I remember reading this as a child and it's just as good now as it was then. If your child like spooky things like mine this is a great choice.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my nephew, but I loved it myself when I was growing up. I'm looking forward to reading it to him.
A great book I sent to my daughter for her and her husband to read to my grandson. They read it and discuss it and it makes him smile and laugh.I have raised 3 children and taught for 30 years. Reading is important for children and they learn by enjoying and respecting books from an early age.
This book has the name of the child it was given to on the cover page. I dont remember reading that in the description. Maybe it was. Other then that, the book is in excellent condition.
I'm 54 years old. When I saw this book, it brought me me right back to childhood. My mom used to read this book to me every night ( at my request). I just loved this book so I had to have a copy again. LOVE IT
