Great paint if you know how to use it. It's oil based, not water based, so cleanup is with turps. Dries to an incredibly durable finish. It's quite thick, so dry time will depend on the heaviness of your application and whether you use a thinner. I've used it to paint car wheels and even a steel thermos and once cured it stands up well. Remember to prep by cleaning the surface well with an appropriate solvent to maximise adherence. The spray can version is a lot thinner but seems to provide the same finish once dry.

Avoid this product. It takes 4+days to dry and set. I've applied it on several different surfaces and in a range of ambient temperatures and humiidity levels, always stirred thoroughly before hand and applied from new (less that 6months since purchase). It will stain your hands if you touch it firmly for the first 48+ hours. No one knows how it will perform in 50 years time, so I would suggest that DIY folks buy a non-epoxy system that is tried and tested. Impossible to clean brushes too in any solvent so don't use your favourite brushes. I recommend that Bunnings remove this (and like products) from their shelves.

Used White Knight rust guard on top of Penetrol when treating rusted windscreen rim. Rust guard epoxy has a thick, sticky application and sets hard, actually adding a thickish, protective finish. Even softened a couple of the sharp edges where the rust had corroded the metal into a jagged edge. I would totally recommend for a similar job.

This was recommended to me by Bunnings paint department for spraying my trailer. So I thought I would try the "green" water-based enamel.Spray coverage was good, and the finish looks ok.But it is not what I would consider an enamel paint, the end result is very soft and definitely isn't chip resistant. I can easily scratch and dint it with my fingernail, after a couple of weeks you would have expected it to have cured to a hard "ENAMEL" finish.I will not be going water-based again after this expensive experience.
This paint provides an excellent finish when applied according to the directions. The only thing I would say is use an etch primer always. Yes you can spray this directly on bare metal but if you want a high quality durable finish always use primer. I use a primer every time and the results are excellent.
I do not understand the poor reviews of this product by others . This is the first time I have ever submitted a product review anywhere and am only doing so because the existing reviews are so misleading and unfair.I have used White Knight single-pack epoxy in different colours over a period of twenty-five years in both home repair and marine applications - mostly marine. Its perfomance on ordinary steel as well as on copper/bronze in the salty environment of the engine of a yacht has been outstanding. I am about to try it on aluminium (N.B. after etch priming as recommended.)
I bought some of this paint in May 2020. In early June I read poor reviews for it. However, I got a suitably prepared plate of mild steel and gave it a coat of paint in mid June to test for myself. I followed the directions to the letter. The paint didn't dry quickly. I left it for a week at room temperature, after which time it was semi-dried, but could be easily removed with my finger nail. I had read that some epoxy paints can take a month to completely cure, so I monitored it every week for 3 months! Still no luck, it could still be removed with a finger nail. Had I used this for my project, it would have caused me a world of pain to re-do. A completely useless, unfit-for-purpose product. I returned it to Bunnings NZ for a refund. They refunded the purchase price of the paint (and superfluous special thinners I had to buy at the same time) without asking any further questions. I really can't be bothered to write to Bunnings to tell the management what I told the shop assistant. Just don't buy it, it's crap. I would have given it no stars, but it's not an option.
I find this product very hard to achieve a nice finish. I have tried multiple tints, different rust guard converters, very expensive brushes, sponge, rollers, as is and thinned up to about 5%. I have also tried thin and thicker layers but only get average results.
Tried this on a couple of different surfaces. Went on nicely on aluminium window, took 3 coats. However, did this on security door and it was horrible. First coat no problem, went on nice. Waited 24h for second coat and it started wrinkling immediately. Ruined the door. Would not recommend.Note I did thoroughly clean the door prior. Soap and water, rinse, paint prep spirit cleaner, etc. Would not recommend.
