I've used this machine as a travel sound machine for 5 years now. We've used it on vacations to help our son sleep since he was a baby. We just use it on "white noise" and it helps all of us sleep great. It's slim and fits in a travel bag easy. The only negative is there's kind of a big gap between the volume levels - it goes from can't quite hear it to wow that's pretty loud. It could have used one more notch in between. But otherwise it's an awesome little machine!

Like many other parents, this is about my millionth Homedics white noise machine. They tend to last 1-2 years, then will begin having electronic issues on the knob (has static and then cuts off). This seems to conveniently always happen right after the 1-year warranty expires. However, I've kept coming back and buying another one because...well, when it's a matter of your kid sleeping through the night, another $20/$25 seems worth it in the moment.BUT NO MORE! This machine is especially terrible in that it is not true white noise - there are electronic beeps/electronic variances in the midst of the white noise that are incredibly distracting and annoying. Here's my advice (and what I've done) - ditch the Homemedics brand and spend a bit more (not much) money on ... MoreLike many other parents, this is about my millionth Homedics white noise machine. These are the two highest rated white noise machines on the market, and there is no electronic looping with either one. They will also last you WAAAAAYYY longer, as they are better quality. If I had shelled out a bit more money to buy one of these initially, I would have saved money in the long run (instead of buying 4-5 Homemedics over the past 6 years).

This is a neat-looking unit which, with the supplied batteries inserted, is ready to operate. The controls are logical and easy to use. Tap the power button and you get sound. Tap a sound button to change the sound to any of the preset available. On offer are heartbeat, white noise (constant breeze sound), cradle, ocean, brook, and summer night. Adjust the volume up/down as required, and set the timer if you want it. Without the time (the default mode) the sound plays until you switch it off.The sounds are of passable quality but are very brief. While you;d expect a heartbeat to repeat, the repetition of the more fluid sounds becomes annoying after a minute or so. That said, the twins (just a week old) didn't seem to mind the repetition of sounds that don't naturally repeat. They don't seem to be problem sleepers, so maybe are not the ideal testers, but they liked the soothing sounds nonetheless. If your child has problems sleeping, or the room suffers from noise pollution through the walls, then this might be something to try.We thought this unit might also be a handy solution for tinnitus in grownups. Alas, while it is certainly loud enough, the repetition of natural sounds becomes annoying pretty fast, so it's not great for that purpose. On this line though, there are many sound generator apps for phones, which do much the same job, and do it better, though they are not as easy to set up and operate as this device.Well, this device would benefit from having much longer loops of sound, and from loop the sounds with cross-fading, which would remove the repetition issue. Other than that, it's a very nice-looking device, very easy to use, and is loud enough for use in very large rooms.

I was very pleased how easy the SoundSpa was to use, it has a simple and well laid out control panel. You can choose from having the sound loop permanently or for 15,30,45 minutes. There is a good choice of background sounds and the ability to adjust the volume.I had read that some people noticed the loop did not quite sync, I however thought that they are well put together and did not notice any loop issues at all.The Build Quality is very good, and the buttons seems solid, it also looks as if it would survive a few drops, which is bound to happen at some stage. My only gripe would be that the SoundSpa has the functionality to take power from a DC cable, but none was provided, I would understand this if it was a USB connection instead, as people would have ... MoreI was very pleased how easy the SoundSpa was to use, it has a simple and well laid out control panel. It seems that running this on batteries, would be ideal for when traveling but not ideals for everyday use.For the price of SoundSpa I do feel that it is good value, and the sounds are relaxing!Disclaimer: I did receive this product for free on the understanding that I will give my honest feedback.
Over the years we have used various sleeping aids when our eldest son (6) and youngest daughter (4) were infants. We had ceased using these items for about 3 years until about 2 months ago when our daughter was having trouble sleeping again.Upon unpacking the Soundspa I was impressed with the neat, compact and lightweight but sturdy nature of the product. The controls were clearly marked and easy to understand. Initially I was impressed to find the required 4 AA batteries included. There are 6 varying sounds to choice from, all seem suitable though Brooks and White Nose worked best with our 4 year old and was a great aid in helping her fall asleep. The ability to set set the timer for up to 60min is a great benefit as it means that we do not have to go back into ... MoreOver the years we have used various sleeping aids when our eldest son (6) and youngest daughter (4) were infants. On average since using the SoundSpa the time to get our daughter asleep has reduced from about 30-40 min to 15 min.The volume control is as you would expect on a device of this nature. We would regularly travel long distances by car and our daughter would not be the best of passengers, as she would regularly get uncomfortable and upset. The ease of taking the Soundspa with us on these journeys was one of its strong selling points. It has been very successful in calming our daughter on these journeys thus making everyone's journey more relaxing and enjoyable.I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable product and value for money.Like a number of reviews you can read, the 4 rating is due to the lack of a charger being provided with the product.
This machine is great. Works very well and my 20 month old turns it on before going in crib and off when we take her out of the crib on her own. Works amazing also for my 3 month old since we brought him home. Sound is loud enough to keep them both asleep in same room. Even when one wakes up during the night crying in same room. Highly recommend.
This is the second sound machine I've purchased from HoMedics, simply because I needed one for my second child. Living near a busy highway, it was imperative that I find something to help my little one fall asleep - and stay asleep all night, uninterrupted. This machine does have a timer function, but I've never used it. Plug it in to a standard outlet and it'll play several different soothing sounds until you've turned it off. It also travels well. Almost five years later, my first one is still going strong, so I know this new one will be just as reliable.

The "CRADLE" button plays Brahms Lullaby.2. The "Summer Night" button has sounds of white noise and crickets chirping3. The "OCEAN" button has sounds of gentle waves crashing on the shore which fades in and out to mimic real waves.4. The "BROOK" button sounds like a fast running gurgling creek.5. The "WHITE NOISE" button is a soothing constant background fuzzy noise6. The "HEARTBEAT" button mimics a baby's mom's heartbeat. Ba-Bump, Ba-Bump, Ba-Bump.This SoundSpa unit really creates a comforting environment anywhere in and out of the house. I cannot wait to take it RV camping with us.
When playing the white noise setting you can hear a tune playing as well at a slightly lower background volume. It goes da-doodle-do-do-DA, da-doodle-do-do-DA. It’s really annoying. The other noises fluctuate a lot like the ocean sound gets loud and quiet with great variance.Useful that it’s USB powered, it’s easy to use and built well. But considering the purpose is the noises it makes, I would not recommend to someone.
I love the compactness of this sound machine. That makes it very handy for traveling, but only if you have a flat surface for it to sit. This machine is not designed for using in the car or in the baby carrier. It’s just too big for that. It is, however, perfect for hotels or nights at grandma’s house. The sound effects are a cradle tune, night crickets, the ocean, a babbling brook, simple white noise (like the static on an old television), and heartbeat. I wish it had rain, which is my favorite sound on other machines I have owned. It also has a timer for 15, 30, or 60 minutes. You can also just let it run all night if you wanted. It can plug into the wall or use 4 AA batteries for on the go. The volume gets pretty loud, too. The buttons a big and easy to use. It’s very simple for my children to operate, too. My 5 year old can turn on and off her own sound machine for bed time and into the morning.I look forward to bringing this on vacation because I cannot sleep without noise myself. It’s a lot easier to pack than a big box fan.
