Death in a bottle. To be honest, nothing great can come of drinking this stuff with friends neat. I gotta say it’s a strong whiskey with a really strong pungent flavor. There is no holding back in this one. It’s a straight bar fight with bikers equipped with brass knuckles and bats. I cannot recommend this whiskey to anyone who cannot handle waking up in someone’s house not knowing who they are and why they are calling you son.

Wild Turkey 101 for me had always been a whiskey I was afraid of. I saw it as high alcohol by volume liquor that only crazy guys like Hunter S Thompson would drink. I never considered it could be complex, full-bodied and as approachable as it really is. For being as readily available as other brands like Beam or Old no. 7 it far surpasses the quality at the price point. Think cherry, Carmel and the smell of fresh tobacco with a hit of spice from the high rye mash bill. Wild Turkey 101 is a fantastic American Bourbon.

I appreciate Wild Turkey. Although it's not a top-tier whiskey, it's much better than its pricing would imply. My wife and I usually drink Woodford, but if we could only get the bird, that wouldn't be the end of the world. Turkey, hands down, if I had to choose between Jack and Turkey.

Personal preference is your best gauge given the range of options available. Your palate is not the same as mine. This one tastes fantastic neat, on ice, or with anything of your choosing. If you haven't, you really ought to.
Bought this to try some time ago. It has good flavour, bit hot on the throat with first sip. I am a fan of Dimples Scotch Whiskey. This is just as good, but totally different flavour. Another favourite has now been added to my list.
My wife won a bottle in a raffle. I’ve been drinking it on ice. Pretty satisfying considering that this is your basic WT bourbon. I’ll step up and try the 101 next, as I’ve heard it’s a much better bourbon at a slightly higher price. Good value though.
I was looking for a lower cost bourbon to mix with water. This particular version of WT does not have much flavor and is overwhelmed by the water. Unlike Woodford or Angel's Envy that carries it's taste, the WT cannot be watered down and provide flavor. I tried it but will go back to Evan Williams 1783 for everyday drinking.
I have been buying this WT 81 since I discovered it years ago. While I like the flavor and fire of the WT 101, it is something you sip for short periods only - unless you dilute it beyond it’s distinct features. The WT 81 s smooth and flavorful and it’s strength is right for me. It is very good sippin’ bourbon.
You wouldn't think watering down a drink from 43.4% to 40.5% would make such a difference to the taste and character of a drink. But it does! I thought I'd bought an off bottle.
Obviously, WT 81 is not a premium whiskey. It's watered-down, and doesn't have the pizzazz of WT 101. But often I just want a mild, pleasant whiskey, and this nicely fills the bill. I'll often make up my own blend of equal parts 81 and 101, thereby creating Wild Turkey 91! Why would I do this? Because as much as I like WT101, if I have two shots of it, I have a pretty good headache the next morning. Who wants that?
