A great high quality, high proof, high rye content Kentucky bourbon at an affordable price! It's been reliably the same product for over 25 years that I can personally vouch for. If the alcohol content is too strong for some palates, then it can be 'cut' with 1 part spring water to 4 parts Wild Turkey. I prefer it straight/neat, and to sip it slowly, sometimes adding a splash of Remy Martin VSOP or another cognac for an additional flavor.

I have to disagree with the tasting description here. This is the sweetest bourbon I’ve had yet, but there is also a bite. Prominent notes of cinnamon, caramel, and vanilla. This is a smooth bourbon, probably the smoothest I’ve had. Absolutely delicious, and what a steal at the price. And, I also read that Wild Turkey is Non GMO. I’m a fan.

I'm not sure if it is a marketing problem or anything else, but I had completely forgotten about Wild Turkey. My Dad consumed it. When I occasionally had it in college, I considered it to be a "luxury brand" that I couldn't afford. Then I decided to buy it after realizing the other day how inexpensive it was in comparison to other premium brands like Woodford. I wasn't let down...very easy. I have no idea how to class WT. It has a cork top, a wonderful reputation, and is often less expensive than Makers but not as inexpensive as Ancient and other similar products. I don't know why it has become less popular over the years, but I will always appreciate the excellent taste and affordable cost.

We absolutely love this product. While most KY bourbons are made from genetically modified corn, Wild Turkey had the fore-site to completely boycott the technology. No one should want to consume foods that have been genetically modified. God didn't make mistakes and all His creations are perfect. Support Wild Turkey for caring enough!
I first tried Wild Turkey 101 back in the dark ages of the mid-90's and could barely keep it down. I've heard tales that the recipe has changed since that time, though I don't know that I believe it. Regardless, it's much better than I remembered. I think it's more that my palate has matured over the years, and I'm past the college kid shooter phase; I just couldn't appreciate the flavor and complexity that each pour brings to the table back then. Anyway, I bought the large 1.75 liter bottle to mix it with Coke. For giggles, I poured myself a shot and just sipped on it, and it didn't take long for me to realize that mixing this with anything would be sinful. I usually find the budget offerings to be very one-dimensional and boring, but this really has a lot going ... MoreI first tried Wild Turkey 101 back in the dark ages of the mid-90's and could barely keep it down. I usually find the budget offerings to be very one-dimensional and boring, but this really has a lot going on! I'm VERY impressed with how good this is, considering I tend to stick more to single barrel offerings for my straight sippers. Well, now I have my "in-between special occasions" straight sipper in Wild Turkey 101.
I was looking for a lower cost bourbon to mix with water. This particular version of WT does not have much flavor and is overwhelmed by the water. Unlike Woodford or Angel's Envy that carries it's taste, the WT cannot be watered down and provide flavor. I tried it but will go back to Evan Williams 1783 for everyday drinking.
Great value!!! Great Bourbon taste!!! The new version is softer and sweeter than before while maintaining the WT flavor profile. Plus that new bottle looks like a million bucks, it’s so clean on the shelf. A majority of $30-$50 bourbons can’t beat this unless they’re from Texas in my honest opinion. Also a great mixer with coke and Dr. Pepper as well as neat.
I bought this after reading several reviews. I don’t do on the nose ID’s. My first pour was: this isn’t bad. Second time, different day, hey pretty good. The taste up front is impressive. The finish is moderately long and sweet. I don’t know how long the bottle will last, but it definitely will not be my last.
I’ve had a lot of bourbons over the years and have made this my only bourbon I buy and drink now. First off, it’s made with non GMO corn! That’s a huge deal to me. On top of that, it’s 50.5 % alcohol! Last but most important, it taste great! It’s got everything I want in a whiskey at a very modest price. Seriously, why pay more? Just hope the price doesn’t keep creeping up? If it does, I’ll keep buying it cause everything else will have as well.
Obviously, WT 81 is not a premium whiskey. It's watered-down, and doesn't have the pizzazz of WT 101. But often I just want a mild, pleasant whiskey, and this nicely fills the bill. I'll often make up my own blend of equal parts 81 and 101, thereby creating Wild Turkey 91! Why would I do this? Because as much as I like WT101, if I have two shots of it, I have a pretty good headache the next morning. Who wants that?
