I was given a set of Pabeo paints two years ago and it included one Winsor & Newton - Cotman paintbrush. I used that brush for almost every watercolor I have done since. I finally looked online at dickblick.com and saw that they carried this brand and ordered almost every size that they have of round brushes. I was looking to see what other brushes Michael's offers in small thin brushes and bought this one. I tried it but found it was not as I'd hoped.My next trip to Michael's' however, I was assisted by a young Lady who had a degree in Art. She shared her expertise about canvas n gesso n I was VERY impressed and pleased!!! I was delighted to get Expert Help by the Staff!

I have just started painting with watercolors. I was using the brushes I had on hand. They were okay, but I wanted to upgrade without paying the price of a professional brush. This one was perfect. It picks up and holds the paint well. A definite improvement. And at such a read price.
This brush is more money but if you need to finish a detailed painting or project it’s worth it. The brush is firm enough to work with acrylics and water colors and washes of oil but if you are working with thick paints you may need a courser bristle . The cheaper brushes won’t come to a true point, the flat tipped cheap brushes are ok but spend more for fine pointed tips like this.
I'm a beginner. I started painting back in November. My paint of choice is watercolor. This is a big improvement over my mixed medium brushes. It makes mixing and controlling the paint effortless and has become my go-to brush for large to medium strokes.
I have used this brush for about a month now and I have not been disappointed. It holds quite a bit of water for being not only synthetic but also for its size. I usually paint smaller pieces and I was looking for a small enough brush that was still able to hold a lot of water and pigment for as long as possible. This brush does both perfectly fine. I have used other synthetic brushes, mainly the ones that come in a multipack and the ones closest to this one in size don't even compare. They don't hold as much water or pigment and don't hold their shape as well. This is a student grade one, so if you're just starting out in watercolors I highly recommend it.
Best watercolor brushes I have ever used. Brushes are firm enough to get work done without the sloppy tip-lash, but flexibile enough to do broad strokes and get the bend when you need it. Excellent brushes for the media I use (watercolor, and liquid acrylic.) Hands down.
I have enjoyed using Winsor & Newton watercolor paints for several years. The quality is exceptional and yet affordable. It’s easy to get professional results with these paints.I also love using the round Cotman watercolor brush. If you paint with a good brush you know that it makes all the difference and yet this brush is in my budget. It almost as if a good round brush can paint a beautiful flower all by itself!
I've tried a few brush brands from silver limited, artegria, and princeton and this is actually my favorite. With super small detail brushes like 18/0 they can so easily fray even with proper care. The smaller round brushes I have from this line have held their shape and work perfectly with acrylic ink!
My brushes where 30 yr old. I did not want to invest huge amounts of money in to new brushes. These are great brushes for the expense. I think they perform better than other student grade brushes I have bought. They have spring and load up with color well.
