The Winsor and Newton Artists Watercolour paint is available in a range of 96 different colours. Henry Newton and William Winsor introduced the first moist watercolour to the world in 1832 and since then the Artists Water Colour range has been developed to achieve the highest possible permance within a wide range of well balanced pigments. Single pigments are used whenever possible thus creating a cleaner and purer colour. The binding medium used is the highest quality Gum Arabic called Gum Kordofan from acacia trees in Africa. The tubes of watercolour are ideal for doing stronger washes of colour and for covering large areas. It is the most popular format for water colour painting.

The Windsor & Newton pro water color paints are great. While the pro level is pricey, a little paint goes a long way and the tubes last a long time. Will continue to buy. Only negative for Michael’s is that their range of colors is limited. Had to supplement some colors from another store. They do carry the most popular colors, though.

W N Watercolours are probably the best for the saturation of the pigments, although it’s probably a good idea to experiment with other brands and compare. Some colours there can be as vivid. Good to check the lightfastness. My only problem is Opus won’t bring in Windsor Newton series 6 brushes. The problem is, none of the others are nearly as good; don’t keep a point as long or hold as much water. I hope they bring them back! They are expensive but worth it.

Beautiful color. Same great quality I always expect out of this company. Even though they say not to dry their tube paints in pans this color rewets easily and works just fine that way. I love this color for the depth it can achieve, which is a deep purple nearing black. Great for glazing too.

Rich Aqua green jewel toned color makes a beautiful addition to night skies and ocean scenes! A mere 5mL lasts for a long long time for an everyday hobbyist painter like myself. I chose to empty my tube into an empty plastic full pan size watercolor pan and allowed it to dry for a few days. Then you can have a large pan of proffesional watercolor paint in an easy to use dry cake form which for me, helps eliminate wasting any. These re-wet beautifully with a few drops of water right into the pan. I usually spray my paints with a mist of water and let set for 3 or 4 minutes. Then ill add water to each pan individually a drop at a time as needed while painting. I also use a cermaic palette to mix and add water as needed. Ive tried almost every watercolor paint brand but i always find myself reaching for my these! By purchasing one or two tubes at a time with my Michaels coupons, ive been able to grow my collection in a short time without breaking the bank. The difference in quality and pigmentation vs student grade paints is beyond worth the investment. Especially with my method of growing my collection with a handful of tubes each month. This also keeps my Michaels reward points building and vouchers keep coming! My only complaint is that i wish my local Michaels carried the full range of colors, although most all colors are available on the website. Happy Painting!
A name you can trust. Love Winsor and Newton products for all my watercolor needs. this is a go to brand for the studio and the children learn how to work with a quality brand of watercolor. Use less paint from the tube has a rich color and consistency. The Artist and Student will have a better outcome using these paints.
When I began to invest time in learning watercolor, I surrendered to the idea that I might also have to invest money. I've had mostly good experiences with Daniel Smith, but in my limited experience, Windsor Newton professional also delivers the multi-colored goods.I picked up quinacridone red on the advice of a YouTube artist, and it's a terrific red. Less blue and less opaque than pyrrol, less orange than cad.med. A great clear warm red which mixes gorgeous purples, though for super dark areas, you may want to mix it with something a little stronger.
W&N’s Green Blue Shade is very transparent, stains beautifully, and I find it very versatile, usage wise. Being such a strong pigment on its own, I love mixing it with Ochre, Quinacridone Gold or a strong yellow for the most vibrant green tones. Tried it with W&N’s Indian Red adding some granulation medium for an exquisite brownish shade I fell in love with.
As a painter of landscapes, I find myself in constant need of a variety of Greens and Browns. While I am aware that there are an infinite number of ways of mixing these from more basic primaries, I find that this takes more time than I can afford when painting in plein air. Using one of the many options offered by Winsor Newton gives me a head start, without using several other pigments. I have found Winsor Newton to be of reliable quality over many years.
Winsor & Newton watercolor paint is a professional grade with high quality pigments. The transparency is wonderful and the washes remain vibrant and luminescent. These colors have excellent staining, opacity and granulation as well. There are so many colors to choose from. Winsor & Newton is my number one choice.Thank you,Robert
This is my first tube of Winsor + Newton Professional series watercolor. I use other professional brands and am well used to them. But when I first touched my wet brush to this paint, I was blown away by the explosion of color. This Indigo is absolutely GORGEOUS and is now a staple on my palette!!
