Okay, this is actually a cool scale! I’m not usually one to keep a scale in the bathroom, but this Withings Smart Body Scale is not your average scale! Not only does it tell your weight, but it tracks your weight and health trends in an app on your phone! It also tells you the weather, air quality report, body fat, and other health insights! It’s pretty cool! If you’re into monitoring your overall health, not just the number on the scale, then this is for you!

Decent Scale, No So Decent App

I have had this scale for a month now and used it daily. I feel as a scale, the device functions as it should and provides mostly accurate information. Weight seems to be accurate compared to another digital scale I own, but the calculation for my personal BMI is not correct. The scale will not allow for full on-screen weather information unless you allow it to connect to your wi-fi, which makes sense but I feel is unnecessary. As for the product's construction, it feels sturdy, with a glass top and plastic bottom case. I question why the glass top extends beyond the bottom casing, and feel if the exposed glass edge bangs up against something, say the wall it sits next to, the top could break. I do think an app for a scale in my bathroom requires using my phone's location at all times. It also required connecting with another health app to enable step tracking. I also experienced occasional sync issues between the phone and the app, or the server and the app.Overall, it is a nice looking and functional scale, but the digital experience felt lacking. For now I plan to use it as a non-app connected digital scale, and maybe will try the app again in the future to see if it has improved.

Once that is set, you just … step on.Like most smart scales, you should take your BMI, and the percentages of muscle, bone, water, etc. with a bit of a grain of salt. They won’t be all that accurate. You can, however, track changes over time pretty effectively, so you can see your own trending as you go on your health journey, even if the raw data is slightly inaccurate. It handles multiple users (each person must have the app and pair it to the scale), so the entire family can use it.Withings is no longer owned by Nokia. The original owners bought the company back, and so some of the issues that were introduced as Nokia tried to integrate the Withings products with their own apps and products are no longer present.

Surprisingly easy to set up, but does default to KG so once you've passed through the initial profile creating you can go in and change to LBs.It had a hard time deciding what my weight was.... doing measurements for 10 times resulted in 10 different results. I wanted the wifi scale to easily update my Apple Health and MyFitnessPal apps to simplify the task in the morning. But reading other reviews that this scale is glitchy, inconsistent and cannot rely on the body composition measurements, its just not worth it.The morning after the first day, it could not recognize me, and the get the "X". Because the weight change was 4 lbs, it thought I was someone else. When I tried again after coffee and water, my weight was different, it recognized me. Nice looking, poor at connecting to wifi

Purchased this as it was also available on the Apple website and I wanted to integrate the scales into the health app. Great looking product with and quite proactive Customer Support (online), let down by the sub standard interfacing. Couldn't connect to wifi until I reduced the security level of my whole wifi to connect the produce, then re established the higher security level and since then it has connected well. Bizarre. This gives a poor experience and only resolved after contacting the help desk. I've given up trying to resolve some of the reading issues (bodyfat) as I've spent too much time sorting out the connectivity issues without going down another rabbit hole. Not accurate

I originally bought this because reviews said how accurate it was. Well save your money. Could only get it to connect to my phone. Wouldn’t connect to my husband’s phone even though it said on his phone it was connected. Had to google instructions because it doesn’t come with detailed instructions on how to set it up. Ended up finally getting my husband added to my phone as an extra family member which is not convenient for him using my phone. Weighed and then weighed again the next morning as I like morning weights. The percents when broken down after losing 2.9 lbs overnight say that I lost 4 lbs in muscle and gained it in fat. Overnight!!! Really? This clearly isn’t accurate and also said I lost 2 lbs in bone mass overnight. Review of WITHINGS BODY+ Smart Scale - White

Good Points: In 18 days I have lost 1st 14oz by using these scales. They have helped me monitor my weight loss in conjunction with their free app. I've been able to see both my muscle mass and my fat mass together. So the days where you seem to be gaining weight you can assess this in detail and see whether you've actually lost fat, but gained muscle. Having these scales has made me challenge myself. It's the only item I have ever used and been able to lose some weight. I usually give up after a couple of days and think the scales are lying. I have also combined this with their Pulse HR watch which monitors my calories, heart rate and steps. Rubbish Scales

Real review rather than a 5-star review from people getting freebies.These scales give inaccurate results. Weighing yourself 3 times in a row will result in 3 very different results. If accurate weights are important forget it.The withings app is mediocre at best and connection issues are common. Just had to reset my scales after they vanished from the app after an update. Now continuously get an unexpected error at the configuration stage so the scales having to be factory reset are now unusable. You can't use these scales standalone until they have successfully completed initial setup.To make this worse the customer service is terrible. Scale highly inaccurate

You would expect that the one thing a smart scale should do is to measure weight. This seems to be beyond the capability of the Withings Body+. It worked for the first week or so, pending a bit of learning how to balance properly for the measurement to settle. It then became less and less accurate, displaying weights 5-20 lbs higher than other scales. It now can only take a 396lb reading, which I can assure, is well beyond my range. Body comp readings also seem off.The scale seems slick, the setup with wifi works pretty well. The app is pretty intuitive. All very good. But a scale that can't take an accurate weight reading is useful only as a door stop.

I bought this device in 2023 and it is crippled by old tech WIFI. It requires an old fashioned WPA2 personal only SSID in order to work over WIFI. Radio bandwidth also needs to be 20 MHz. So Withings forces usage of insecure WIFI configuration. In my case I was able to give this scale its own isolated SSID instead of returning it.Funny thing is the Withings junky scale we had in 2014/2015 had similar old days WIFI shortcomings. Withings has demonstrated ZERO innovation in the past 9 years. In the Android app the location map feature isn't working right either on the latest Android devices.Withings is a sub par junk company that does not abide by modern day security best practices.
