As a long time lover of sneakers, I didn’t think I would come to enjoy the nike air max portal. At first glance, the air max portal did not look the most appealing shoe to me. However, how it felt and looked on my feet completely changed my whole perspective of the shoe. The fit was incredible comfortable with a lot of room for my foot despite not having a wide foot. The material made the shoe very light and the cushioning on the bottom of the shoe was amazing. I would have slept with the shoes on, that’s how amazing they felt on my feet. The show is very well made. I feel the shoes are true to size. I love how springy it feels. I feel like I could wear these to Disneyland and walk around all day and my feet wouldn’t be tired. The days I tested the shoes out my feet felt energized with minimal fatigue.The cushioning is pure perfection for comfort and there’s a springy-ness to it like there was a bounce back. However, after taking a closer look at the sneaker, the only flaw is from my personal preference. I’m not a fan of the super thick sole. It’s somewhat bulky and that reason alone would be why I wouldn’t purchase these in store.

I have a condition on both of my feet called Hallux rigidus which requires an operation. As I am in constant pain and was looking for a pair of comfortable shoes to be able to wear to the gym and for everyday use for going out. I would highly recommend these shoes. They are so soft, comfortable and make walking easier and less painful for me. I feel like I am walking on a cloud, as they are soft, light, stretchy and don’t put any pressure where my painful lumps are on the top of my feet because the laces start quite low. This is a great revamp of the classic Nike Air Max 97 with the addition of a thicker and more futuristic sole. I like to wear these with semi-casual outfits to the office or jeans for lunch dates and weekend outings. The style is sooo sleek, I got tons of compliments! They’re also very comfortable, but maybe a tad narrow in the toebox. I give them 4 stars because being almost summer they’re not super breathable, but they are definitely shoes to wear all year round. I also like the minimalistic swoosh, that makes them wearable with both sporty and more “dressed up” outfits, and the laces lenght and material is perfect.
The Air Max Portal has a cute design and details like the multi check placements and the air max 97 body going for it. The insole also forms to your foot with each wear which was a nice surprise. The only thing I really don’t love is how chunky the sole is despite it being light. Just a personal preference. For sizing I choose to size up to the 10.5 since I am in between sizes (10 & 10.5) and the 10 at Nike tends to vary. so I have a little space but the arch support falls in the right spot for my foot. Overall it is a great functional design!

I cannot stress enough on how much that means to me as a consumer. Being in my early 30’s comfort plays a big impact in my day to day footwear. The only suggestion that I would have for the Air Max Portal is if there was a carbon fiber plate on the button arch of the foot to help enhance the running experience as it helps to compress and expand the midsole. Overall I am very impressed with Air Max Portal and it continues to blend together futuristic style and performance.

While extremely comfortable, the cushion bottom is so thick it pushes your feet forward as you walk. Not sure if sizing up half a size would help with this, but I think it couldn't hurt. With that being said, I do have to be specific about when I wear them. There are certain days at the gym I know I shouldn't wear these, because they are quite unevenly elevated and clunky, but for everyday errands this is an easy pick. Now because I am tall, I have bigger feet and when I put these on they made my feet look even bigger. The chunky bottom sticks out on all sides and I still can't decide if its very flattering on me. I think if I could change anything it would be to find a happy medium between the over pronounced bottom against the thick quilted black design. This together makes the design as a whole very puffy and round in its entirety. Overall, the comfortability in this shoe still makes it a shoe I will continue to gravitate towards.
The women’s Nike Air Max Portal is a good every day shoe. The height of the shoe made it feel like a platform, offering more style than a basic sneaker. The fit was true to size length wise, but feels a bit narrow compared to similar Nike styles. The primary black silhouette with white swoosh and white sole is boring, but makes for a good everyday shoe. The materials look and feel nice and like they will last a long time. The best part of the shoe is the air technology and platform feel. The part of the shoe that could be improved is how narrow it feels. I would by the shoe again maybe in a half size up and more exciting colors.
