I already had the long handle with the saw on the end, but needed to cut a load of smaller branches on a big tree. This works really well and went through branches up to an inch thick with ease. It is very well designed and I found it a pleasure to use. I do suggest wearing a hard hat.

I would have prefferd a lopper with a hooked jaw but i didn't concider this when buying only after using it. The open ended jaw means that when trimming on flexible parts of a tree (near the top of younger trees) all but the smallest branch push out when cutting and slip from the cutting endge. One solution I found was to cut as close as possible directly inline with trunk this way branch is less likely to move away.

Did cut some dead branches of our palm trees, the rope drive allows relatively low pull forces. For thicker branches I bought the saw in addition.4 stars only because I have no long term experience with that tool.

It's really pleasing when replacement parts can still be obtained years after the original purchase was made - a benefit from buying good quality products in the first place.
Like I said above...Best lopper on the market! Solid construction... The easiest to remove from the pole...Just a push of the button! No nuts and bolts to remove (drop and lose) when changing your lopper for the saw attachment. Bought to replace my original looper which broke after some 15 years. Amazed that the design is almost completely unchanged, except for a separate cable guide which has been addedusefully. Good value, very happy!
Excellent quality. In my experience, the ability to successfully cut thicker branches (up to the 38mm claimed) depends on type of wood being cut. The thicker the branch the more effort required. The block and tackle system helps but there are limits. Thicker branches are better tackled using the excellent Wolf saw. Overall I'm very satisfied and the tools work well.
The Wolf Garten range of tools are well made and will last a lifetime if cleaned/looked after. They are easy to store, as they use a click system for a range of handles to suit the task in hand. German engineered, they are above the usual standard of available garden tools, but don't let me stop you buying British post EU referendum!!!! Best for.... Storage if you have little or no space to hang tools
Wolf kit is very easy to use, versatile, and robust. This pruner is no exception, once I bought a couple of other accessories it has been a pleasure to use. Reach will be down to the extension pole you buy, 3 or 4 metre type? I have acquired many Wolf Garden items over the years and the rakes and shears are amazing, This now is a great addition to them and is helping carefully prune trees in an easy and effortless way.
