This is the first pair of Keens' I have purchased. They won't be the last! This show was comfortable right out of the box and needed no break in time. I also purchased a competitor's show at the same time and these are by far the most comfortable. plenty of room in the toe box and comfortable on the sole. I have painful feet and it is hard to find a shoe I can wear for more than a couple of hours and so far I am wearing these all day.

My old pair (15-20+years) finally began to leak after years of barn work and hiking. With difficult feet I was delighted to find the same boot still available. These feel exactly like my comfy old boots which have been retired to dry days in the garden or barn. Glad to have a waterproof pair. Having also replaced my winter boots (with another brand, sorry), I now appreciate the laces on my Keen boots which are easy to tighten and tie and then stay tied, thanks to the type of weave.

I needed to replace my previous pair of Targhee's. These seem a bit heavier than a few years ago but the same stiff sole, good arch support and nice waterproofing. I prepared for my 2 wks long distance walking in the UK with good training, gradually increasing my mileage and going out daily. No problems with the Targhee's until I got to the UK and developed blisters with bruising on 3 of my toenails within 2 days on the trails. Only diffierence was more irregular terrain. This had happened with my previous pair and I had written it off to being a 1/2 size too small. I guess my feet don't like Targhee's. They also did show more wear on the soles than I would have expected with my 6 wks of training.

I have wide feet with a high arch and toes straightened through hammertoe surgery (which doesn't allow my toes to grip naturally). I know - too much info! I've never had an easy time finding comfortable, well-fitting shoes. However, the Targhee surpasses my expectations. When ordering this time, I compared the II with the III & IV and decided I'd stay with what I know works for me. One more thing - in the past I've had to buy men's size 8 for the width (instead of women's 9.5). This time I got a pleasant surprise right out of the box - the women's 9.5 regular width fit like a glove!!
For walking, hiking, backpacking, or whatever heavy athletic activity, I only wear Keen shoes. I also have the Keen whisper sandals for whatever activity that involves walking including hiking,. They are waterproof and amazingly comfortable. I have a slightly wider foot, the toe-box in the Keen shoes, compensate for that. Also, if you are going to wear a liner sock and your main sock, there is room enough for both socks, including on a long walk/hike when your feet swell there is plenty of room for swelling feet. I have never had a blister with my Keens, and never had to break in a Keen my shoes. I have gotten about 10 pair of women's Targhee II shoes over the past 20 years. Have loved them. They always fit just right, were sturday durable and had good traction. But the last 2 pair I've bought were too big. My foot slipped out of the back even if I wore 2 pair of socks. In addition, with my most recent purchase I noticed that they came up higher on the ankle than they used to and caused me discomfort. I'm sorry to say goodbye to KEEN, but looks like I've got to move on to find another brand of hiking shoe that fits.
I got my first pair of Keens 15 years ago and they were the most perfect shoes I have ever worn. I wore them till the track disappeared and replaced with the same design (presidio). The last time I replaced the design of the toe box had changed and the shoe squashed my toes while I walked. I got the targhee II on advice from the customer service as the only hiker with the original toe box. So now the toes are okay, but the back of the shoe is wide and my heels pop out. I’ve tried everything, tongue inserts, heel inserts, fit is not right. No other Keen shoe left to try.
I have worn this style of Keen for years. My old pair had seen better days and I was excited to get these. However they seem to be considerably larger than my old pair. One of my feet is slightly smaller and that has never been an issue. With these running large my heel almost slips out on the one side.I am hoping when they break in maybe I can tie them tighter? I wish I was closer to a store so I could try on a half size down and see if that works. I held them up to my other pair and they look the same size, so maybe it could be the insole or something is updated. I have had 3 pairs prior and never had this sizing issue.
Super comfortable right out of the box. Good support. Reasonably long life. I’ve been wearing these shoes for years of volunteer field work with state and federal agencies, hiking, snowshoeing, casual wear, and even to the symphony during the winter because my dressy shoes and sandals don’t do well in snow or ice. That said, my only concern is the shoestrings on this newest pair won’t stay tied even though I have them in a fisherman’s knot and double knotted. So when we get home from where we are right now, I’m going to have to get a piece of wax and wax the strings so they’ll stay tied.
Since 2018 my favorite and only lace-ups. Keens just fit my feet, the wide toe box is the best shoe feature I've ever found, especially as I get older. Comfortable, super cute and supportive. For hiking, working and just for everyday and all day on your feet. I ordered a half size larger to wear thicker winter socks, though my last pair kept my feet warm even in thinner socks. I absolutely recommend! Only wish the insert was firmer like my last pair.
