The GEL-Nimbus has always worked for my foot, not against it - like other brands I've tried. I like that this neutral sho works with my wider toebox. That's why I stick with it - even through the design iterations I don't always like. This latest model is ok. I was worried the cushioning would be too much. It took some getting used to but isn't a detriment. The woven upper is too stretchy; my toes will break through much faster on this model than the older ones. The shoe looks good. I like the monotone color which is a neutral gray and goes with everything. And FINALLY - the shoelace length is appropriate to this shoe. I vowed to never by another ASICS shoe if they once again gave me an one-size-fits-all lace that is feet too long. Overall - not perfect, but my feet ... MoreThe GEL-Nimbus has always worked for my foot, not against it - like other brands I've tried. I like that this neutral sho works with my wider toebox. Honestly really great shoes. I have between standard and wide feet and at first I thought they were too narrow but after the first 2 uses, they loosened up a bit. I don't run more than 5 miles at a time currently but even then I have always struggled with shin splints and calf cramps and these shoes helped a lot. Yes, most every running shoe needs breaking in so expect that foot pain but remember to walk or jog through it and apply pressure. Wear running socks, they prevent moisture and provide cushion to avoid blisters and if you know you are prone to blisters, wear a band-aid for the 1st and 2nd use. Do dynamic stretches before a run and static stretches after a run. Great! A few differences between the 25 model
3 July 2024

I first tried the nimbus series 25 and I absolutely loved it. I use them for running occasionally but mostly I use them for work. I stand for 12-14 hours a day during my shifts, with my flat feet you can imagine that gets pretty painful very fast. The nimbus 25 was a god send, it felt like standing on a cloud and it came in handy whenever I needed to sprint. I bought the 26 so I could cycle between the two of them and for a change in colors. What I can notice is that the size remained the same, the fit on the 26s is a little tighter around the tongue and the heel collar and it feels a little firmer in comparison to the 25s model. I find these differences work well for me, now I tend to use the 25 when I know I will stand for longer periods and the 26s when I will be ... MoreI first tried the nimbus series 25 and I absolutely loved it. Overall I love the nimbus series, they’ve helped with my pain and allow me to do my job more comfortably.

I miss gel nimbus 23 and prior!
16 March 2024

I bought these with high hopes after I had to return the 24s because the tongue was irritating my ankle. Big improvement on the tongue’s cushioning (as advertised), but now I’m experiencing chafing /blistering on my heel that is intolerable—even with high socks. The back of the shoe goes too high. I’ve never experienced such a hard break-in period with Asics. I’m 33 years old and have been wearing the gel nimbus model since freshman year of high school. The 24 model and up have been giving me problems. Please bring back the magic that was the gel nimbus 23! I’ve had to buy them on second party websites and there are not a lot of 23s left. I might just need to try another model sneaker from ASICS or switch to a new brand altogether. I wanted to love these so much. Disappointed.

I wanted to love these so much, but it's the worst feeling Nimbus I have ever tried. This is the tightest 4E shoe I've ever put on my foot. The "sock-like" liner is a not-so stretchy material that squeezes the entire foot. Even with the laces removed, it's still a VERY tight fit. I know it is a new shoe, but I don't know if mine was a factory defect and they sent me a D width with a 4E label, or what? Also the ankle collar is an odd design. It's like it clamps the back half of the ankle, but then there is nothing holding the front part of the ankle area. I've had other Asics that have a form fit cushion around the ankle, but this would not let my foot sit low enough to wrap around the ankle - Almost as if the measurements were for a size 9 or 10, but left the same ... MoreI wanted to love these so much, but it's the worst feeling Nimbus I have ever tried. It you are the slightest bit claustrophobic, pass on this shoe. If you can try it on BEFORE ordering a pair sight unseen, I would 100% recommend doing that. I'm going back to the Brooks Ghost.

Nimbus 26 IS BETTER THAN the Nimbus 25!!!

Overall, I am a complete convert to ASICS! 55 yo marathon runner who just ran her 18th marathon at Disney World (Dopey Challenge) in the Nimbus 25 after wearing Hokas for years. ASICS Nimbus are the superior shoe. They are not clunky at all and I feel faster when I run in them. I al also a physician and I wear them for overnight shifts. My feet feel fantastic in this shoes. The Nimbus-26 are an improvement from the Nimbus-25. Same amazing support without the pillowy, slightly bouncy feel of the Nimbus-25. I hope ASICS will over more colors in the ASICS Nimbus Wide 26. I have broad metatarsals but an otherwise slender foot. The Nimbus -26 wide is an improvement from the Nimbus-25 wide. Plenty of room across my metatarsals without looking bullky. In summary I highly recommend the ASICS Nimbus 26 for distance runners and for all healthcare workers who work long shifts. You won’t think about your feet at all! They are truly amazing and a substantial improvement from the 25! Thank you ASICS!!!.

Not a Neutral Shoe
9 September 2024

I need a comfortable shoe for working on concrete floors 10 hours a day. Nimbus 26 cushioning felt great on my feet. However, I underpronate, i.e. supinate, so the outer edges of my heels and outer balls of my feet hit first while running or walking. I purchased the Nimbus 26 based upon Asics’ website recommendation for underpronation. I expected my feet to feel neutral in the shoe while standing such that the inner and outer edges of my feet are level. However, while standing in these shoes, the inner part of my feet (the arches) were tipping upward at an angle rather than sitting level. The fact that my arches are tipping upward exacerbates underpronation, rather than provide needed support. For $160 the shoes should come with laces long enough for proper heel locking.

Not a great update

Ugh. So sad about the changes made to the Nimbus. The 25’s were perfect and I actually ran my first marathon in them just last month. Since I loved them so much, I went ahead and bought the 26’s and they’re… not good. For me at least. I’ve worn them on three runs so far and on all three my pinky toes have gone numb in the first two miles. It’s not a size issue. The length and width are perfect and the same as the 25’s. If anything, the 26’s are a touch bigger in length. But I believe the problem is either the new lacing structure or the firmness in the forefoot or a combination of the two. The new lacing structure puts added pressure onto the top of the foot and no matter how loose I make the laces, I can feel the laces on the top of the foot. I’ve never even given ... MoreUgh. I’ve never even given any thought to the laces on the 25’s. You couldn’t feel them at all. And yes, the 26’s are firmer which isn’t necessarily bad, but there’s some very firm areas in the forefoot that just plain hurt once you’re running. Wish ASICS had a better return policy because I would definitely return them if I could. It’s hard to know if a shoe is going to work until you’ve run in it at least a few times, but then you can’t return them, so it’s frustrating. I’m definitely going to be sticking up on the 25’s and keeping my fingers crossed that next year’s version goes back to the previous lacing system and back to the soft cushion in the forefoot.

After running around 60km with them, I have found a few major changes to this shoe in comparison to the Gel-Nimbus 25, although overall they’re very similar. As a neutral shoe, aimed for longer jogs, the Nimbus 26 pretty much guarantees max cushioning and comfort for miles on end, whilst keeping the bouncy and comfort. With both shoes having the Pure Gel in the heel area, there’s plenty of comfort in the heel and a super enjoyable landing for anyone running with a more heel pronounce technique. The upper mesh and knit tongue is an absolute highlight of this shoe, and I am very glad they kept using this feature; it provides comfort whilst still allowing breathability. The addition of rubber to the outsole seems to be adding durability and grip, with a very minimal weight gain. The most noticeable change is that the bottom of the lace throat loses the “W” shape and is now a “V,” the lacing system gets more built up with wider straps over the arch. I find this extremely helpful as my ankles tend to become unstable after a few hours running, and so this new, simple feature has been really welcomed. The most significant changes are the firmer midsole, helping them become considerably more responsive than the Nimbus 25, but also keeping a very similar soft feeling.Apart from those improvements, overall, it’s a very similar shoe form the Gel-Nimbus 25, and if you enjoyed the previous model, you will certainly enjoy this one. It really feels good to run in and it’s a much more firm shoe and definitely up there as one of my top pics for longer runs.
