What is going on with the colors of the women's trail running line??? It's impossible to find a nice colorway. These all look like men's. I love my Mach 6, Clifton, but wanted to replace my Torrent for a long time and I can't find a colorway that I can look at it for longer than 2 seconds without giving me eyesore. We want neutrals, black upper on light midsole and feminine colorways! Thank you.

I wanted to love these. They're rad. I've heard such good things about other versions of the speedgoat. I bought these for a mountain race and wore them on a short hike to break them in. They dug into my ankle bones on any slight up or downhill and often even on the flats. I tried tying them different ways, nothing relieved the pain. It's like they forgot to cut out a slot for your ankle bones or something. Grateful for the free returns.

I've been wearing Speedgoats since the forth iteration. It seems every new version is basically a downgrade. This one feels a little smaller and has less cushion. It's a very different shoe now than it was a few years ago. With all the accolades of the Speedgoat 4, why or why change it so drastically. I now believe the heel pain that started last year was due to the changes made in the 5th version and the Speedgoat 6 is no better. On the bright side, the return policy is very generous and I am thankful for that.

I absolutely loved the Speedgoat 4s. Yes the tongue was an issue, but overall it was a great shoe for me. The 5s were awful. You can fold them in half. Pick up a pair and try. I like more support underfoot and the 5s were way too soft. The 6s are great and closer to the 4s than the 5s. The traction is super secure, similar to the Mafate. I will run in the shoe because it works for me, but I absolutely hate the colorways. Obnoxiously overdone. I wear an 8.5 street shoe. I always wear a 9 in Hoka and it's the same for this shoe. I like a bit of extra length and have never lost a toenail.
I've been using the Speedgoat since version 2, skipping the year of the slicing tongue, loved the 5s. The 6s are a complete overhaul and it's not a good change. Most important is sizing changed, I was a 7.5 in previous Speedgoats, so that's what I ordered, they are too short. I should have gotten an 8, my toes hurt. Second, the tongue, why do you always change the tongue? Now it has an elevated/thickness right where you would tie the shoe, then the tie will slip unless you tie it very tight, then it feels like you are bruising the top of your foot while running. I don't understand the purpose of this change.I ordered Gull/Stormy skies color, it's interesting, wouldn't have selected if I saw it in person, I think it has snowflakes. Some positives: I like the heel ... MoreI've been using the Speedgoat since version 2, skipping the year of the slicing tongue, loved the 5s. The improved grippiness of the soles are good. They are grippy.I'm really bummed with the changes and in the market for some new trail shoes.I think I waited too long to return so will probably have to sell them, unfortunately.
Horrible design. People have been complaining about the tongue for the last 2 iterations of this shoe and Hoka clearly doesn’t listen to customer feedback. Now they still haven’t fixed it but there’s somehow less cushion. The tongue stitching hurts my foot so much it’s hard to get through a trail route without wanting to throw these shoes off a cliff and hike back in my socks. Not to mention it’s too short, so lacing up high leaves the laces directly cutting into your foot. The tongue is also so thin it hurts to tie them too tight anyway. What a trash design. Do better, hoka.
I heard the new Speedgoats went down in quality but i ignored the complaints. I needed new fall trail running shoes so took a trip to R.E.I. to try the new Speedgoat 6, being a fan of the 5s. I was expecting to walk out with a pair of 6s, but the complaints were valid! They were shockingly uncomfortable! They are stiff and run small. They still had the Speedgoat 5s in the store so my friend and I put them on side by side. The 5s are roomier and the material is much softer. The material on the 6s felt like cheap plastic and when I sized up they fit the toe box but then rubbed on the heel. I tried on the Stinson 7 instead, which also didn't workout. They're plush on the foot, but stiff around the ankles and way too heavy and stacked for a trail running shoe. I was so disappointed.I ended up with the Challenger 7s, which are very comfortable, but I was hoping for a more technical quality trail running shoe. I feel like I should backstock the Speedgoat 5s...otherwise I might need to switch to a different brand. 😢 Hopefully the quality improves next time!
Pros: Vibram sole feels strong and gives a sense of security. The color gray and green looks nice. Also this shoe is not as bulky as others which often make my legs look like stilts. I liked the gray/green color though. Cons: The insoles are thin and flimsy providing little to no comfort. For the price and popularity, I think HOKA could do better than that. Also, I need space from my orthotic and due to the dual sided gusseted tongue the shoe fits much tighter and hurts the top of my foot where I have a surgical scar. I also ordered the Stinson 7 and can say the Stinson toe box and mid foot provided me with the space I need for my orthotic. Unfortunately and sadly, neither this shoe nor the Stinson 7 (which is hard as a rock) provided me with what I needed. Overall ... MorePros: Vibram sole feels strong and gives a sense of security. I'm a reluctant convert to HOKA. Honest, I wanted to not like these shoes. I was given a pair to try and wore them on a 8 mile trail run right out of the box. I fell in love like a besotted school girl. Grippy, responsive, cushioning but not too much so you still have ground feel, no hot spots, no sloppy heel fit, a toe box wide enough but again not sloppy. I guess this trundle donkey is now a speed goat! Oh, size down 1 size. I wear a 10 in almost every shoe and in HOKA a 9 fits like a glove.
I really wanted to love these! The cushioning is great, the tread is super grippy, the stability is great! However, I definitely had a fit problem with the heel which caused a lot of pain in my right foot. I think if the heel fit was just a little wider these would have been a keeper for me! Really tried these for a good three weeks of hiking and everyday, general wear.
