I'm not a runner but walk a LOT with an unrepaired torn ACL and the 1080 was recommended for the extra support. They've been fantastic until now...While these have more cushioning, they have less stability which is a problem for the torn ACL. The cushioning makes it feel like your heel sinks with every step. My foot slides out of step causing an over-pronation; that and the increased "squishy" factor has changed my gait. It's not me, it's the shoe and I wish I could return them.If you're looking at these, expecting the amazing 1080 fit and feel that NB has put out in previous versions, this shoe does not have it.

Lacks grip, balance, support

The outer upper body feels wonderful. Soft, lightweight and pliable. The overall weight is also very low, just 202 grams, which is great! However the sole is too high from the ground and way too soft. Being higher up from ground makes it difficult to gauge earth underneath. Thus proper grasp and balance becomes an issue. The thick sole is so soft that one feels like kneading a dough with one's feet while walking or running with these shoes. As a result, I developed bad backpain after using these shoes for a couple of times. This makes this design the worst NB shoes I have ever bought. NB must make proper research while designing the next version of Fresh Foam Women's 1080 shoes. Neutral shoe doesn't fit all feet
30 August 2024

I purchased the 1080v13 shoe as a substitute for the 860v14 stability/pronation shoe that had rapidly sold out of my size and width, and planned to make the 1080 my indoor-home shoe (not for high activity). I had worn the 1080 several years ago, and tried and moved to the now defunct 1260 or current 860 at suggestion of a sales person. The 1080 marketed as a "neutral" shoe suggested to me that it would fit a wide variety of feet. It was immediately clear that was a bad conclusion and that the 1080v13 did not offer a workable substitute for me; the sides of the 1080 shoe painfully dug into the ankle bone. I can't speak to whether or not this particular ill-fit results from a recent a design modification or a more distant modification. I recommend trying on the shoe ... MoreI purchased the 1080v13 shoe as a substitute for the 860v14 stability/pronation shoe that had rapidly sold out of my size and width, and planned to make the 1080 my indoor-home shoe (not for high activity). I can't speak to whether or not this particular ill-fit results from a recent a design modification or a more distant modification. I recommend trying on the shoe at a store, if that's an option for you. In my many years of experience with NB shoes, a new version of the model does not always fit. The NB store in my metropolitan area doesn't stock or sell narrow widths, and advised that NB doesn't allow their stores to special order shoes for customers to try on in the store and so trying NB shoes on prior to purchase is not an option for all. This review system requires assigning a quality rating, which I can't sincerely offer since the shoe does not fit, and so I've selected the middle rating of 3 stars. Of course, the 1080v13 might be a fabulous shoe for another person!

Run away if you want a 1080 feel :(
16 January 2024

Very loyal customer here (3-4 pairs of 1080s per year for over a decade; my family wears only this model too). This shoe is NOT a 1080. It doesn’t feel or respond like a 1080 at ALL. It should have a different model number altogether. My teens saw how unstable and how oddly bouncy these were without me saying anything to them. There is literally so much bounce that my core is activating to diminish its effects constantly (this is oddly fatiguing). I cannot walk in these, and jogging is no better. They feel like moon shoes, especially if you tend to heel strike (there is no solid support at end of heel, but rather the most spongy, squishy foam that collapses downward if you put pressure on it. Put your weight there while standing and you will want to fall backwards.) ... MoreVery loyal customer here (3-4 pairs of 1080s per year for over a decade; my family wears only this model too). I’m not sure what to buy now, but this failure is being sent back. So very disappointed. This would be 0 stars if available.

Terrible Experience After 10-Year-Loyalty
21 September 2024

I ordered the 1080 v13 from New Balance online. I have worn New Balance for over 10 years. I am 6'1" tall, 169 lbs, and size 13 M women's shoe. I complete 450,00 steps a month in addition to other aerobic activities. Therfore, I have high expectations for my footwear when it comes to sneakers/gym shoes. These 1080 v13 are the first pair that I hate. These shoes make sounds like there is water or some crunchy something in them.At work, we can wear jeans on Fridays, so I wore these shoes to work on a Friday, and my colleagues and I had to hear this noise all day long.I did not recognize this when I first wore them at the gym because the music is so loud. I clicked one star since the shoes do fit my feet. However, poor quality and noise makes me say: No way. I am so disappointed 😞. While this might not be a big deal for New Balance, for a person who has to search for an extended size for my activities means more money spent for the trial and error process. I do not recommend these 1080 v13 shoes.

Talk about a new balance!! These may take some getting used to for some, it definitely did for me! I often felt like I was wearing shoes with springs on them. Haha! They are very comfortable, may have you feel like you're walking on clouds. I have not had a chance to wear there's for extended hours, but I have worn them for a hour or two at a time, while on my run. I have had a great experience with comforability during this time frame. As mentioned earlier, I did have to get used to these shoes, I believe because of the sole. I am used to my sole being virtually flat to the ground, whereas these are not. I do wish the appearance there the shoe meets to sole was a bit better looking, as it honestly looks the shoe was spray painted and there was overage. I'm also not a fan of how thick the soles are, but I have gotten passed that aspect. For comparison; I am typically a size 6.5ish, I went with a 7 and they fit perfectly! All in all, very comfortable shoes.

V13 is not the same, worst version so far.
19 June 2024

I’ve been buying the 1080’s for several years now. Each new version has been a little different than the last. This has to be the worst version I’ve had. I absolutely love the 1080’s and have a minimum of two pairs at all times to wear to work since they are so comfortable for all the walking I have to do. I have two pairs of this version and I’ve tried to wear them over the last few months but they rub too hard on my heal area; to the point my foot hurts for a few days afterwards. I was lucky enough to find a pair of the V12 so I could wear them instead. I’ve tried to alternate between the V13 and the pair of V12, but I’m just not able to keep wearing the V13. These are such wonderful sneakers! I am so glad I finally decided to try the 1080 sneakers (I also love the 880s and 860s!) They are SO comfortable and have LOTS of cushioning and are perfect for someone like me with a high arch and outward rolling feet (supinator) I also love the color I bought - they are white with violet outlining and green neon touches with green neon stripes at the heel (the neon stripe is especially good when taking walks while it is dark outside). I also tried for the 1st time, the Extra Wide instead of the Wide, and even though they do look larger from the extra width, they are still SO cute on! I also love the other beautiful colors of New Balance sneakers like the pink ones! Thank you, New Balance, for these fantastic, comfortable and beautiful sneakers!
