They feel great for mostly walking which I did that day and it felt AMAZING, for once! THESE SHOES REALLY MADE IS POSITIVE DIFFERENCE!Would I recommend these to others? YES! If you’re not picky and looking for the most comfortable shoes on the market, I think these are it! I don’t understand why some women are complaining?! (THINK THEY CRAZY TO?! LOL) but these are JUST PERFECT, for every wear (walking, or light jogging but idk about running tho) if you need more comfort due to weight issues/medical or low-impact exercising like lots of walking! I wouldn’t judge them by based other reviews but you must try them first before you do cause everyone may have personal level comfort, style and sized difference! I’m REALLY HAPPY n SO THANKFUL to have a pair of these! It’s my 1st time owning a pair that I just LOVE THESE SO MUCH…I got myself a 2nd pair that same day I bought my 1st!THANK YOU SO MUCH…CHAMPS & NEW BALANCE for thinking of women like us who looking for comfy for us to wear so we can enjoy getting our job well n more exercise (low-impact walking for now) , too! I'm not a runner but walk a LOT with an unrepaired torn ACL and the 1080 was recommended for the extra support. They've been fantastic until now...While these have more cushioning, they have less stability which is a problem for the torn ACL. The cushioning makes it feel like your heel sinks with every step. My foot slides out of step causing an over-pronation; that and the increased "squishy" factor has changed my gait. It's not me, it's the shoe and I wish I could return them.If you're looking at these, expecting the amazing 1080 fit and feel that NB has put out in previous versions, this shoe does not have it.

NB 1080s are miracle trainers for long hikes!!!
22 June 2024

This is my third pair of 1080s - so easy to see I LOOOVE them. I wore my first pair on the Camino in Spain, form Sarria to Santiago, walking 10-16 kilometres per day. I had some sore muscle/intermittent pain in my right knee, from a ruptured Baker's Cyst, which was a niggle, but not too sore. The 1080s made walking the distance each day a breeze. I had no more pain from my knee, and my usual slightly sore hip after walking for more than an hour also didn't happen. I spent time in Madrid before and after my Camino walk, often walking 10-13 kilometres a day sightseeing, and, once again - no leg or foot fatigue, no sore muscles.Quite amazing!!! My friend who walked the Camino with me also bought a pair of 1080s, and loved her walking experience as well. On the Camino, Hokas were the most common trainers, and I had a pair of them too, but they are not nearly as springy as the 1080s. Once word gets out, I am sure the NB 1080s will become the trainer of choice for hiking anywhere!! P.S. I am 70 years old, and reasonably fit.

Neutral shoe doesn't fit all feet
30 August 2024

I purchased the 1080v13 shoe as a substitute for the 860v14 stability/pronation shoe that had rapidly sold out of my size and width, and planned to make the 1080 my indoor-home shoe (not for high activity). I had worn the 1080 several years ago, and tried and moved to the now defunct 1260 or current 860 at suggestion of a sales person. The 1080 marketed as a "neutral" shoe suggested to me that it would fit a wide variety of feet. It was immediately clear that was a bad conclusion and that the 1080v13 did not offer a workable substitute for me; the sides of the 1080 shoe painfully dug into the ankle bone. I can't speak to whether or not this particular ill-fit results from a recent a design modification or a more distant modification. I recommend trying on the shoe ... MoreI purchased the 1080v13 shoe as a substitute for the 860v14 stability/pronation shoe that had rapidly sold out of my size and width, and planned to make the 1080 my indoor-home shoe (not for high activity). I recommend trying on the shoe at a store, if that's an option for you. In my many years of experience with NB shoes, a new version of the model does not always fit. The NB store in my metropolitan area doesn't stock or sell narrow widths, and advised that NB doesn't allow their stores to special order shoes for customers to try on in the store and so trying NB shoes on prior to purchase is not an option for all. This review system requires assigning a quality rating, which I can't sincerely offer since the shoe does not fit, and so I've selected the middle rating of 3 stars. Of course, the 1080v13 might be a fabulous shoe for another person!

Not Lov'n design changes
14 July 2024

I loved 1080v12, which i wore in a 9 wide (D) to accommodate an insert. I thought that the v12's cushion & proportions were perfect for my flat, post-surgery wide feet. Unfortunately, the 1080v13's upper material is much stiffer, making the kick feel tangibly narrower. I am in the process of switching out the v13 to the next width level, "EE", which seems comparable to the v12's wide "D".Also, the increase in footbed cushion changed the ride of the kick - the heel area feels more bouncy & the extra midfoot cushion pronounces roll - at the expensive of distorting/eliminating the feel of what i thought was perfect midfoot placement in the v12. Hence the v13 rolls like the softer, older versions of the Hoka Clifton which is great for offsetting forefoot impact (or ... MoreI loved 1080v12, which i wore in a 9 wide (D) to accommodate an insert. Hence the v13 rolls like the softer, older versions of the Hoka Clifton which is great for offsetting forefoot impact (or for use as a recovery kick) BUT, makes it more difficult to use as a running kick if you like forward push off of your toes.Additionally, for some reason, v13 feels a bit longer in the back than its v12 predecessor, which in turn created a heel gap that isn't easily overcome by shoelace repositioning & effort to slide your foot back before lacing.Lastly, although I'm told that the 1080 is made specifically for each gender, it almost seems like New Balance completely disregarded where womens' ankles are located. The ankle cutout is abnormally close to the heel & v13's side slope back to the shoelace results in the side being too high, rubbing over my ankle.... even with the added height from an insert. Essentially, it almost seems as if New Balance made a unisex kick with mens' ankle & other dimensions, but changed the label. It reminded me of my first post surgery Mizuno that I needed to buy in a men's size to obtain the width I needed, but which also came at the expensive of having ankle rub from the sides being higher because it was a men's design.Hence, consider increasing the width level of your v13 to remain comparable to the v12.

Run away if you want a 1080 feel :(

Very loyal customer here (3-4 pairs of 1080s per year for over a decade; my family wears only this model too). This shoe is NOT a 1080. It doesn’t feel or respond like a 1080 at ALL. It should have a different model number altogether. My teens saw how unstable and how oddly bouncy these were without me saying anything to them. There is literally so much bounce that my core is activating to diminish its effects constantly (this is oddly fatiguing). I cannot walk in these, and jogging is no better. They feel like moon shoes, especially if you tend to heel strike (there is no solid support at end of heel, but rather the most spongy, squishy foam that collapses downward if you put pressure on it. Put your weight there while standing and you will want to fall backwards.) ... MoreVery loyal customer here (3-4 pairs of 1080s per year for over a decade; my family wears only this model too). I’m not sure what to buy now, but this failure is being sent back. So very disappointed. This would be 0 stars if available.

Terrible Experience After 10-Year-Loyalty

I ordered the 1080 v13 from New Balance online. I have worn New Balance for over 10 years. I am 6'1" tall, 169 lbs, and size 13 M women's shoe. I complete 450,00 steps a month in addition to other aerobic activities. Therfore, I have high expectations for my footwear when it comes to sneakers/gym shoes. I clicked one star since the shoes do fit my feet. However, poor quality and noise makes me say: No way. I am so disappointed 😞. While this might not be a big deal for New Balance, for a person who has to search for an extended size for my activities means more money spent for the trial and error process. I do not recommend these 1080 v13 shoes.

This is the worst 1080 they have made... they took the super soft and form fitting stretchy upper with the nice smooth pull on style heel and made the uppers on these v13s retrictive and bulky feeling. They do not move with your foot, they do not give your toes as much space to stretch. The foam sole is soft, but they took away some of the rocker aspect of the previous shoes... these feel like everything else on the market, stiff, stuffy, tight in the toesand the heel with the plastic "supports" is atrocious...how do you go from someting so soft and strtchy to something that feels like a cast on your heel? I feel like the v13s should have been released as a completely different model and the v10 and v11 should have continued on. Those of us who loved the v10 and v11 will be very disappointed with this version. they are completely different shoes. Why doesnt new balance offer versions with both uppers? Also, the color selevtion is absolutely horrible this year, shades of cream and boring beige. Where are the gorgeous gray and blue shades that previous years had? I am so disappointed in these shoes, I'm going to have to find another brand to wear now.

These are such wonderful sneakers! I am so glad I finally decided to try the 1080 sneakers (I also love the 880s and 860s!) They are SO comfortable and have LOTS of cushioning and are perfect for someone like me with a high arch and outward rolling feet (supinator) I also love the color I bought - they are white with violet outlining and green neon touches with green neon stripes at the heel (the neon stripe is especially good when taking walks while it is dark outside). I also tried for the 1st time, the Extra Wide instead of the Wide, and even though they do look larger from the extra width, they are still SO cute on! And my feet are 4" wide because I have tailors bunions! So, I am delighted to find such beautiful sneakers that also are Extra Wide! I bought the 9 ... MoreThese are such wonderful sneakers! I bought the 9 1/2 Extra Wide, and also like the 10 Wide (which I have a couple of pairs of already). Both work out well for me. I also love the other beautiful colors of New Balance sneakers like the pink ones! Thank you, New Balance, for these fantastic, comfortable and beautiful sneakers!
