Great Basmati Rice. I love Basmati rice, and have been purchasing another brand for years. It was great to try this, it was light and fluffy and I couldn't tell the difference from my previous one. I made a butter chicken last night and it complimented it greatly. I would definitely purchase this again, great price as well.

My favourite basmati. I really love rice. I’ve tried quite a few basmati brands. This is a firm favourite. The other favourite I get from an Indian grocer. I particularly like this brand as it is consistently clean. Many of these I have tried have to be washed for a long time to remove the excess “rice flour” which leads to gluggy rice. I find soaking it for at least 20 min prior to cooking gets me lovely long grains like in restaurants. I cook it two minutes high pressure in my pressure cooker.

Lovely Rice to use for Asian dishes. I have used this rice when cooking any Asian dish that is served with rice. The grains are long and slim and cook perfectly. The rice has a nice taste and smell and doesn't clump up. I notice that it is grown in India. It is now hard to find rice grown, packed and sold in Australia. I grew up on a sheep, wheat & rice farm in the MIA. Back then rice grown in Australia was packed and sold through our local Rice Growers Sunwhite Rice company. Now if you look at that label, the name is the same but the rice is grown in Thailand???Go Figure??

Beaut Basmati. Tried the Woolies Chicken Jalfrezi meal and the recommended rice was basmati. Why not give the Woolies basmati rice a go? It's worth it as it is quite economical in comparison; keeping in mind that it is a product of India (for those who prefer Aussie grown) - but I'm not sure that we have Aussie basmati? It is not as aromatic as other basmatis I have tried but is a good everyday staple. I used the simple absorption method after giving it a rinse, but as I love to read other reviews here on Bunch there are some great tips and suggestions to really enjoy this rice so much more. The package is simple robust (I hate packaging that rips too easily) and there is a re-useable sticky strip to keep the plastic folded shut (for those who don't decant the product into pantry containers). I also like that the packet has a recipe at the back for inspiration. I think a loose internal, keep-able, wipeable recipe card inside the pack would be a great find. Sadly the great 'chicken biryani' recipe on my plastic bag is headed for the RedCycle bin. A good, economical basmati rice that went very well with my Woolies Chicken Jalfrezi meal.
Excellent daily use rice. The Woolworths Basmati rice is excellent everyday rice. Basmati rice is meant to be separate, non sticky light and fluffy. Once you boil some water and then add rice to it - the Woolies Basmati cooks in precisely 11 minutes. Every single time. Been using this for years now and highly recommend it over some other more expensive brands especially if you are eating it as just plain white rice with curries. It's not as 'fragrant' as some significantly more expensive basmati rice but has excellent texture and taste. Highly recommended!
Why pay more for other products? The woolworths basmati rice has been a staple in my cupboard for years asking with the woolworths Jasmine rice. The rice always cooks well, I've never found any unwanted items or pests in it, and it tastes delicious. Due to the fact that the bag is not resealable I use the empty containers from flour such as the healthy baker (also available from woolworths) - I husk use these containers to store my other Woolworths flour I buy. ;-) https://www. healthybaker. com. au/products/plain-flour/. I use the rice for Indian cooking but also for other dishes such as Mexican.
Very Nice Rice! I used to buy the big cloth bag of rice at half price but switched over to WW Basmati when I'd run out (and the other wasn't on special) and thought I'd try this one. The price was right and always the same low price of $3. 30and I didn't have to buy such large amountswith a 4 health star ratingAnd it cooks up beautiful light and fluffySo I now store my rice in that same cloth bag so it stays in good condition. Basmati is our favourite rice and makes fabulous Kedgeree and Fried Rice and is a great side to have with curries. I use a rice cooker to cook my rice. I first rinse it and then soak it in cold water for approx 15/20 minutes before popping it into the cooker. We both enjoy the flavour and the long grains of WW Basmati Rice and recommend this ... MoreVery Nice Rice! Not a big rice eater BUT…. After really only eating rice during the day’s Survivor is on as to immerse myself into the show as much as possible, I’ve really struggled to find a rice that cooks up fluffy and tasty, that is until I got to try this rice. Price is fantastic especially for a 2kg bag and with no rice cooker and having to cook it on the stove absorption way, it turned out fluffier than Satan my cat and he’s one hell of a fluff monster. This is a definite pantry staple worth having in the cupboard.
Great value for money. I love this rice!! I can not tell the difference between this basmati rice and any others which are sold at a higher price point. Why pay more for a household staple if there is no need too?!I love the large 2kg bag which is great value for money. We used the rice as the perfect accompaniment to home made stir fry’s and curry’s but also most recently to make a delicious Mexican rice!!
Good Grain. I loved this rice. It had such a great texture and flavour. I have about five or six different rices in my pantry from time to time - arborio, brown, jasmine, basmati, wild, sushi ....... rotating and probably others as well - I love cooking. This rice had a lovely light texture and after enjoying my trial I went to re-fill my rice jar and found other lucky people were going to enjoy this as well - all sold out!!! Just waiting for it to hit the shelves again. Sorry I can't add a photo - it was gone too fast but I'll try to snap it next time before it's all gone :)
