Indescribable Taste. Thanks Bunch for my sample, Mr was looking forward to sinking his choppers into this one. Sadly for us this tasted like nothing we've ever had before, I took one bite and seriously could not get it out of my mouth quick enough. Nothing beef tasting about it, hard and just g#d awful yucky. Mr on the other hand persevered and chewed thru his piece, pack had to be consumed within 3 days or there about. Told Mr that the pack was his and he could live out his dreams of being an old Cowboy in a western, have to say the Jerky looked like a dried up old cowboy. Needless to say the pack ended up being binned. I know some will enjoy this but not us, we like our meat to be pink and juicy and oh so tender. Moist & More-ish. Woolworths Beef Jerky Original is a moist & flavour filled jerky offering. It has a current shelf price of $10. 00 per 180g resealable bag. The bag contains many irregular shapes and sizes of jerky, and I would have to say that it is the softest and most moist jerky I have ever tried. The flavour ingredients combine garlic, coriander, pepper, ginger, celery and nutmeg to name a few. It is quite salty and very, very sweet! Interesting Snack. I wasn't sure where to locate these so had to ask but when I found the location indicated it was easy to spot the pack on the shelf. The large clear lettering made it stand out. I've not had beef jerky before and wasn't sure what to expect. I will admit I expected the worst. And $10 for the packet I thought was quite dear so hoped for that price they were going to be good. While I understand meat isn't cheap these days and there's obviously a bit of a process involved it's still a lot to pay for a 180g bag. The pluses and big ones at that are it's a resealable bag which is very handy, there are no artifical colours, flavours or preservatives, the bag is fully recyclable and it's made in Australia from at least 95% Australian ingredients. When I opened the bag there was a pleasant meaty smell. As I went to eat it though my initial thoughts weren't that high. I found it quite chewy and hard to break off a piece. But quickly learned you need to place the whole piece in your mouth. Once I did that it was quite tasty. There was a good marinated flavour and it was a lot easier to eat. This unique and new food for our family was a pleasant surprise. A great idea for camping trips and hiking/tramping when you need the extra protein and are not in a position to cook meat. A good substitute for a BBQ or cooked meat meal. However it's unlikely I'd buy these again with the dear regular shelf price. I can't see a need for them at home at the price and the fact that they wouldn't last long for the small size bag. However if you are a jerky fan and the price isn't an issue then I can definitely recommend these.

Not too bad but a bit weird for us... The first time I had jerky, I was not impressed. That was when a colleague gave me some of his home-made ones to try. I remember sitting in my office fearing that I was going to pull my teeth off. When I finally got a small chunk in my mouth, I remember chewing, and chewing, and chewing... and it was still in my mouth after 15 minutes. I could feel the fibers from the meat and all the flavour had been sucked out but I still could not chomp it down. In the end I just spat it out. So you can imagine my horror when this sample turned up in my blue trolley, but my wife wanted to try it as she's never had jerky before. I watched her eat the first piece while I resisted as I didn't want to lose my teeth. She made some funny faces but was able to chew and swallow it. She said it was a little weird, but it wasn't too bad. Curiosity got the better of me - so I tried a piece too, then another one, and another one. Luckily it was nowhere near as bad as my first encounter. It was slightly chewy but it was manageable - definitely no risk to the teeth ! The flavour was savoury with a slight hint of sweetness. Not sure that this is a snack that we would go for though. Would rather be eating smoked or cured meats than this type of meat...

Something different to a usual snack. I have not tried Jerky previously so was quite happy to try something new. The product was not that easy to find, and I had to ask a staff member where it would be. To my surprise it is in the confectionary aisle, and not all stores stocked this "original" product I was looking for. Finally found it at another store, and so now for my verdict. Well - it is not something that I will rush back for. As the packaging states is a beef jerky, and the flavour is true to that description. I thought it might be a little less chewy, but that is only my assumption as I have not had this before. The texture is firm and has a good flavour (being marinated), but not much more I can say for this product. The quantity within this "share pack" ... MoreSomething different to a usual snack. The quantity within this "share pack" is exactly that, as I will be sharing it over the coming few weeks as an ongoing snack with other family members. Again I find it hard to quantify the price ($10) as I can see that it is not a snack that you keep going back for more, so it will last some time so it may be value for money in the context of how long it takes to eat/share. It is not something that I would buy again, but I really appreciated the opportunity to try it.

Great Jerky if you LIKE Jerky on a BUDGET. My partner and I eat jerky and biltong throughout the year but it is limited to once a month or special occasions as I am cheap, not just cheap but so cheap that I feel bad spending more than $2 on a snack and that $2 better cover 2 people!Firstly if you don't know the process of how jerky is made then please read up before complaining about the product being too expensive. Typical jerky requires around 3kg of fresh good cut meat to create 1kg of dried meat then we factor in the time it takes to prepare the product to dehydrate, the herbs/spices used, the man power and of course packaging etc. Most jerky out there does not use cheap cuts of meat as it just doesn't work well and tastes disgusting. The Woolies Beef Jerky is perfectly well priced for the amount you are getting and in jerky loving communities they would say it is a bargain. I am a part of a jerky loving community and let's just say that the typical member spends more money on jerky a week than a typical heavy smoker does on cigarettes. If anyone is seeking a business opportunity then making jerky is a lucrative business with great returns. There are jerky and bilitong subscriptions out there so yes there are "crazy" customers who are happy to continually get their hit of jerky on a very regular basis with a lot of money to fork out. Enough about all that ramble.... moving on. The product is a lovely large pouch of jerky. If you eat enough jerky you know you get super excited when you see a large pouch at a good price or when someone gifts you a large pack you literally jump for joy and feel like you won the lotto. The packaging is simple and it seems to be the key these days with higher end jerky brands that are not found at Woolies. Inside you get a nice aroma it smells sweet, it smells slightly spiced and slightly salty. It looks and smells rather perfect for a homebrand jerky. The pieces look in good condition with minimal random "crumbs" at the bottom. It is not heavy on the smokey side which is typical of a jerky. If you need that heavy smokey taste and smell you will be disappointed. The texture is typical jerky but I found that it steered towards the middle of being some jerky and some bilitong chewiness. Jerky tends to be more hard and drier while bilitong is softer and chewier which makes me think that with the Woolies version they used a meat cut that had more fat on it than the typical jerky meat would. This would turn off a true jerky lover as that is a big no-no. Jerky tends to use meat that is super lean with very minimal fat that is why it ends up being so dry and hard. Bilitong uses different cuts and fat levels that is why bilitong products tend to differ between brands and probably between batches. If you want a proper jerky that has the hard and dry texture then stay away. If you eat more bilitong then you might appreciate this product a bit more than a jerky addict would. The taste is nice and acceptable. I have tried plenty plain jerky from expensive brands and they were boring or tasted like pure sugar or just weren't tasting like jerky. I tend to prefer peppered/spicy varieties as I like a good kick but this jerky actually had a nice taste that I could see myself buying and eating again if I wanted to save money. My partner and I were both happy with the product and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes jerky and bilitong but probably not just a pure jerky lover and is looking to save some money by not always buying their favourite brands. I would be happy to purchase this product again. My only suggestion is to bring out a peppered version so I can get my spicy fix but in the large pouch please. Sorry for all my random facts and lectures. I don't want a product like this one to be taken off because it is deemed "expensive". It is what it is. If you like jerky and bilitong then you understand the costs and processes involved to create the product.

Not to my liking. We were excited to sample this big bag of beef jerky, we’ve been long time purchasers of the Jack Link’s brand and haven’t yet found anything better. Sadly for this sample neither my husband or myself enjoyed it. The first few pieces were too soft and very sweet, I could actually taste golden syrup. The following pieces were tough and chewy and far too salty. The bag contained many pieces of different sizes and thickness and I noticed that many of the pieces had fatty bits to them. This bag had a weight value of 180 grams and cost $10 which is pretty good value considering the 50 gram bag of the Jack Link’s beef jerky cost $5, however, taste is more important so for that reason I’ll be sticking with our usual. Yum! But mind the sugars. As we follow a largely low-carb, low sugar diet in our home, meat snacks are routinely on the grocery list. The jerky aisle is a regular target of our shopping trips, but I hadn't bought this product before due to the sugar that is typically used in the BBQ flavourings. So it was a diet cheat, but the guilt in eating it was pretty low - it was delicious, and still primarily made of Australian beef. The jerky is cut into fairly ideal sized pieces. It was tender, flavourful / tasty and not too salty. I'm actually glad it had sugar in it because otherwise, I'd have had far less conscience about eating more in a sitting. The large pack provides a fair bit of temptation - but would be good for sharing. It could also be a good snack while camping ... MoreYum! But mind the sugars. Awesome but I can't afford to spend money on this. Woolworths Beef Jerky Original 180g was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender and had a great smoky flavor, and the seasoning was perfect. The only downside is the price, as beef jerky tends to be an expensive snack in general. While I enjoyed it, I don't think I would buy it again due to the cost. Nonetheless, it was a satisfying treat and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves beef jerky and is willing to splurge a bit for a high-quality product.
