Tasty ! This product was easy to find in the chiller section alongside other ready-to-heat meals. It seems quite expensive for a small portion of food. It is made in Australia with at least 50% of Australian ingredients, and has no artificial colours or flavours. I heated it as per instructions, and although the film was a bit difficult to peel back, I didn't have to use scissors. The chicken component was on the small side but was more than the beef casserole sample. The creamy sauce tasted very nice with a hint of spices. The rice was cooked and complimented the chicken. Hubby added some roasted peppers for extra flavour. This product would suit people who are dieting, but I found it wasn't enough for a sit down meal. Not normal Butter Chicken. This did not taste like any butter chicken i have had before. It had a taste I couldn't quite distinguish but after reading the ingredients it may have been the red lentils. There was a lot of rice to sauce and, other than a few tiny bits of chicken, the sauce had no other distinguishable ingredients. It just seemed like a mild Indian flavoured red sauce. Looked nothing like the picture on the packaging but rarely does anything anymore. I don't know how the 398 calories compares to regular butter chicken or home made but I would rather buy the curry paste and ingredients and make myself. That way it has a lot more chicken and less rice.

A good work lunch. This butter chicken with rice was easy to find in the chiller in the fresh meal’s section near the meat. It comes in a recyclable tray but care needs to be taken when removing from the microwave as it becomes very hot and tray is not very strong. The butter chicken was a good size for a work lunch good balance of rice, sauce and chicken with nice flavour. The rice was soft and fluffy. A good quick meal easily microwaved in 4 minutes. As the meal isn't frozen but chilled it was easier to store at work until lunch time. I will purchase occasionally for work lunches but not regularly due to price.

Convenient but flavour could be better. Found this easily amongst the quick meals section. There were a few flavours within this product line but it was fairly easy to identify the one I needed. The packaging is simple and has all the necessary information. Colours look vibrant. Instructions were easy to follow. 4 mins in the microwave was enough to make the meal steamy hot. No mess in the microwave :D The flavour of the dish was average. There were three pieces of small chicken, could see some green capsicum. lots of sauce. The flavour of the curry was too sour in my opinion. Flavours were not too balanced. Not enough chicken. The rice was hard despite being warmed up completely. I also did not feel the meal size was appropriate. I would need to eat something else ... MoreConvenient but flavour could be better. Found this easily amongst the quick meals section. Having said that, making this meal was quite convenient. It would be good to have as back up for when you are short on time. It is also 3. 5 HSR, which is decent for prepared food, with 1 serving of veg a day. 50% Aust ingredients only At $7, this meal is slightly pricey. I'd probably just opt to get a warm meal from a restaurant.
Disappointing. Well I was delighted to receive this sample, and looked forward to trying it! Into the microwave it went and it smelled divine. Had great difficulty in getting the plastic off- elderly people would struggle to do so. So I managed to get a corner open and tipped it into a bowl. Well there was a lot of sauce…. And very little chicken. I can see why it’s calorie controlled.. there wasn’t much protein in the whole thing! The rice was good and the sauce tasted nice, but as a regular consumer of lite’n’easy, I don’t think this will take much of their market share away anytime soon. It felt like an entree, I was still hungry afterwards
Small portion of butter chicken. A great small portion of butter chickenThere is not a lot of chicken in the dish but plenty of sauce to mix with the rice. The butter chicken is a simple version- not spicy or authentic in flavour, it’s more of a standard light meal RSPCA chicken portion controlled meal. Great if you need lunch on the run and have access to a microwave or you need some quick dinners and don’t want to eat take out. St $7. 00 per tray it is rather expensive if your on a budget. Over $20 per kiloA little too steep for me in price but if it was on special I might purchase this for some late night dinners.
Quite delicious. This is one of the best in a series of calorie-controlled meals I have tried. To heat up just pierce the film in both compartments of the chicken and rice and Microwave for 3 minutes. Peel back the film halfway on the sauce side stir and re-cover loosely and heat for another minute. Stand for 1 minute, and voila dinner is served. There was plenty of chicken and you can see the capsicum. The sauce flavour was quite nice and the chili was not under or overdone. The rice was nice and plenty of it. I couldn’t eat all the rice actually because the portion was plentiful. There was loads of sauce as per usual in these Woolworths calorie-controlled meals but in this instance, I didn't mind the extra sauce. It was a great opportunity to mix it in with the rice and give that flavour too. The RSPCA-approved chicken is 20% and capsicum 13% so not too bad. Three are no artificial colours or flavours and it is made in Australia from at least 50 % Aussie ingredients. This can be frozen within the use-by date. This is one I will definitely be repurchasing if the need arises for a quick meal for one during the hectic season.
Good lunch size meal. I probably should’ve put this aside for lunch but had it in the fridge ready for dinner one night when I didn’t have time to cook. Having tried previously the calorie controlled beef and mash casserole, I was pleased to see this had a little bit more meat and extra veggies, and a thicker sauce. I did upsize the meal however, mixing the two halves together then plonking it onto a large wrap. The spices were tasteful, albeit mild as to be expected with a butter chicken curry, so I also added to the flavourIngs topping it with mango chutney, Greek yoghurt, some cayenne chilli and coriander. In the end, it made a rather large meal and I struggled to get through it. At least I didn’t need dessert I don’t expect I’ll be buying this again unless it’s ... MoreGood lunch size meal. Good (small) convenience meal. I had this sample for dinner tonight and while I rarely have a need for convenience meals it was useful tonight as I have a zoom meeting shortly. I will also add up front I don't really know what authentic butter chicken is like. That said, this tasted like a well-balanced chicken curry. I liked the not-too-warm (okay, mild) level of heat. Very quick to prepare and eat from the provided tray so no washing up. I'm missing my greens, will make up for that tomorrow I guess. I was aware most of these meals usually have little protein content and slid back the cardboard sleeves on a few to choose one that seemed to have some evidence of chicken. Good tactic, I got one with probably 70g of chicken. Most looked like just sauce. RRP is $7. 00. ... MoreGood (small) convenience meal. I could make a batch of 4 meals from scratch for that price and I like to cook so this is not for me but it would suit the time-starved, as long as they remember to get their greens as well!Unfortunately only (at least) 50% Australian ingredients.
Easy lunch option. While butter chicken is not something I eat too often I enjoyed the option to try this one. The instructions for heating were very straightforward but I did have trouble peeling back the clear film especially halfway through the heating process as per the instructions and nearly burning myself. It certainly smelt spicy as it was heated up and had a bit of a spicy bite when eaten. I felt there wasn't enough rice, but I guess it was calorie controlled so probably for that reason. Overall, while I enjoyed trying it, I probably wouldn't buy it for myself again as I don't eat much spicy food.
