Convenient but... A few weeks ago through Bunch I was given the opportunity to sample the Essentials Crumbed Nuggets, which I was not a huge fan of. This product is of a more superior grade than the Essentials brand, however although I like that this product contains Australian RSPCA Approved Chicken 59%; there are additional ingredients in this product that I do want to necessarily eat or give to my family members. The amount of chicken portion in this product is 59%, and I am also unsure about feeding kids this product as it states that bones and bone fragments may still remain in it. My preference at home is to buy free range chicken breast fillets, cut into small cubes and crumb, then freeze so as to have a quick meal ready and on-hand with 100% ethically raised chicken, rather than a products such as these nuggets, being how much processing has been done to create this product. This product is also made using chicken breast. At $10 for 1 kg of ingredients including only 59 % chicken I think that this product is expensive, and would not consider purchasing again.

I am starting this review by disclaiming that I have also tried the Woolworths bulk chicken schnitzels, and as I was eating these chicken tenders I couldn't help but feel that they were very similar to the chicken schnitzels. So, my review for the schnitzels is largely the same, in that you will never be able to achieve anything near as good as homemade from a pre-prepared frozen crumbed chicken fillet. These are great value, especially with the amount of schnitzels you get, but they don't hold up to homemade. In this case, I would say the extra effort of making your own is worth it. I served these in a wrap with aioli and a lot of salad. As they were lacking flavour, they were drowned out by the other stronger tasting ingredients. Next time I will probably just have them with chips and a dipping sauce for an unhealthy meal. Overall, not too bad for this kind of product.

It contained a large amount of tenders which is great for a large family. As for taste, they definitely compare to the more expensive brands. I get that they are not the most healthy meal for kids but when you are in a hurry and dealing with fussy kids fed is definitely better than not fed. THE VERDICT: We'll still be buying the rival product. Miss 6 prefers it, and it's 40% cheaper. However, if I were buying for myself, then I personally preferred the texture and flavour of these Woolworths nugs.

When getting the bag of nuggets all was good until I got home and went to unpack the shopping and found a nugget in the bottom of my shopping bag. It was then I noticed that the seam of the bag had split wide open. I am going to assume this happened after it was scanned and put in the bag as I would have had nuggets in the shopping trolley, so I didn't return them, but it is a massive hassle now having a huge bag of nuggets that are wide open in the freezer. Perhaps this is a one off, but if it is going to be something that always happens then I will stick with getting the box.
