Good burgers or patties but these are not schnitzels. I picked up this sample pack of chicken schnitzels and it they were priced at $9 for 4 weighing in at 600gNow straight up these are not schnitzels. Technically a schnitzel is a thin slice of meat whether veal or chicken etc. However, they looked quite nice and lightly browned even though you could tell they are obviously pre formed due to their uniform appearance and they are quite thick unlike a schnitzel. I followed the instructions and heated them in the pre-heated oven on baking paper for the recommended 20mins. They browned up and had a nice crispy coating. I put them on a roll with mayonnaise and salad. It is good they come with a 4 health start rating but they are made up of only 50% chicken breast and interestingly the 2nd ingredient on the list is water. The rest is panko crumbs and fillers. A negative is they are unsuitable for freezing, who are they kidding thawed for your convenience. These are probably the best pre-made and pre-cooked BURGERS from Woolworths I have tasted but wouldnât it be better if they were marketed as BURGERS or patties as that is what they are.

Looks tasty and generous, but texture not right. in short I would have called these large chicken âpattiesâ rather than schnitzels. On the surface, the chicken âschnitzels, â looked delicious. They were golden brown, moist (we cooked them in the air fryer), they were flavoursome and plump (looked generous). But the TEXTURE of the chicken schnitzel was NOT right. Ok, so to me a chicken schnitzel is a chicken breast that has (generally) been pounded (flattened a bit) and then crumbed. So normally eating a chicken schnitzel there is the fibre associated with the chicken breast meat. Sadly, in eating this chicken schnitzel, there was no âfibreâ to the meat like you get when eating a piece of chicken or chicken breast. The texture was more of a soft âcompoundâ texture (eg. chicken meat patties). It looked white like chicken breast meat, but there was no fibre, so it clearly wasnât an unprocessed chicken breast. It is interesting that it wasnât till after I was eating the chicken schnitzels, that I went back and properly read the actual product description, and I noticed it says chicken breast âmeatâ. Which one would âassumeâ is a chicken breast, but I can now see by say breast âmeatâ, technically it could be used to describe processed breast meat. So then I started thinking what else has been added to the chicken Breast meat? I turned the packet over and saw water was the second largest ingredient (even before panko crumbs), plus flour, wheat etc etc. I understand âprocessingâ the breast âmeatâ enables each âschnitzelâ to be a consistent size, weight etc, but personally I think it would be more accurate to describe the product as a CHICKEN PATTIE not a schnitzel.

Average Chicken Schnitzels. From the outset of opening this packet, I was a little dubious about these schnitzels. They did not smell very appetising and I found that they had a tangy taste, although the ingredients do not list lemon of any kind. The ingredients state that it contains 50% chicken breast, which means that the remainder of the 50% is made up of more than 15 other ingredients. It states "juicy Australian chicken breast meat", but if this were truly the fact, then it would consist of more than just 50% of chicken, as the ratio of chicken to crumb appears to show otherwise. I think that the meat inside is more processed than what it is advertised as. Unfortunately the panko breadcrumb looked better than what it actually tasted. At $9 for 4 schnitzels I think that it is well-priced at $2. 25 per schnitzel. The meal cannot be frozen for those who like to keep such meals on hand, as it has already been thawed. However for me there is nothing better than the real thing, pure free-range or organic chicken breast with panko breadcrumbs, which always adds the desired crunch and texture, which was a missing element here. I understand for the time-poor this can feed a family, but I would much rather freeze my own and enjoy this as a clean meal with just a handful of ingredients, rather than the concoction of ingredients used to create this product. As this product stands I would not consider purchasing again.

Crunchy chicken schnitzels. I was excited to try this sample as I enjoy schnitzels, and especially since Iâve been making my own crumbed chicken (thanks to @@claudie13âs recent recipe). The 4 pack schnitzels are 600g and cost $9. I think the price is okay when you are in a hurry and need to make food quickly. I was planning to pan fry them but was roasting some veggies that day, so I cooked them the way they recommended on the pack, by cooking in the oven. I turned them over halfway at 10 minutes. In the above picture, hopefully you can see that they puffed and flattened a bit, which was a little strange but interesting to watch. Once done, I tasted a piece because I planned to have them for dinner, so I just tasted a little piece. The coating was crisp and crunchy ... MoreCrunchy chicken schnitzels. The schnitzels are a formed product, so itâs not the same as making it at home and not the same as the schnitzels I buy from the deli department. The product is Made in Australia from at least 92% Australian ingredients, so yeay for that. I like that itâs chicken breast, and itâs coated with Panko bread crumbs. The ingredients are RSPSC chicken breast (50%) Panko Breadcrumbs (10%), so remaining ingredients are flavourings etc. I think they didnât taste too salty, and flavouring were good and made a nice meal. Since there were 4 in the pack, my plan was to cook all of them and then freeze the remaining 2 for later. The packaging says Not suitable for home freezing, but Iâm happy to cook and freeze it. I also had it in a toasted sandwich the next day. I would consider buying these again if I wanted to have some schnitzels quickly or to make a nice parma. The BB was quite good at 11/08 when I bought it on 01/08, so I kept these in the fridge until needed. Thereâs plenty of options for crumbed chicken including the Woolies chicken nuggets, and the fresh deli schnitzels, so this product would compete with those for me.
Really good! I recently tried the bulk pack version of these and thought they were pretty good for a quick meal, but these are so much better!Easy to find in store in the chicken section, we cooked these in the oven as directed and served them with coleslaw after a hard day in the garden (major overhaul going on). I would probably cook them for a little longer to make them a bit more crisp, but they were still moist and delicious. Made from RSPCA Approved chicken breast rather than the general chicken used for the bulk pack, these are a thick piece of chicken coated in panko crumbs. There is 50% chicken so obviously it is not an actual piece of chicken breast, but the texture, flavour and mouthfeel is very realistic. Obviously an actual chicken breast cooked to perfection is even better but when you are time poor and want something quick, having this on hand would be great. There was a good ratio of chicken to crumb coverage, the tray was recyclable and the plastic film was washed and returned to store for recycling. Made in Australia from at least 92% Australian ingredients including RSPCA Approved chicken, which is great to see. Will definitely be adding these to the shopping list while we are in need of quick and easy meals!
Versatile, convenient and tasty. These chicken schnitzels tasted much better then they looked. Sitting in the white container, they looked fake and processed, something that would not taste that great at all. "Look wise" the only thing they had going for them was the labelling showing the health star rating, panko crumbs and Australian chicken breast meat. However they were surprisingly tasty. Tasted them on their own and they were yummy, very juicy, moist and full of flavor. We had them in burgers also, which was great, as the burger was not dry, remained juicy, which we loved as hate it when burgers end up being dry and getting stuck in your throat. Excellent there is no artificial colors, flavors or preservativesI probably will not buy these regularly, however we did enjoy them and they are versatile so will purchase when in need of a easy quick, tasty, convenient, mess free meal.
Easy Japanese Katsu Curry. I felt creative today but also lazy. So I bought these schnitzels along with S&B Golden Curry, Sun Rice Jasmine Cups, Shallots, a fresh chilli and some fresh green beans. Easiest dinner in the world but felt like an expensive takeaway. It was sensational. I shallow fried the schnitzel in a fry pan with extra virgin olive olive for 5 mins each side on medium. I dissolved a full packet of the Golden Curry in 400ml of boiling water in a jug. Blanched the beans in salted water for 2 mins so they were crunchy but not raw. And then serve!
5 star schnitzy goodness. Having tried these and many other schnitzel varieties from woolies, I was ecstatic to receive this bunch sample!Easily located in the meat cooler section of woolies. The tantalising image on the pack of a schnitzel cut open certainly gets your mouth watering I like that the tray is clear so that you can get a good look at the quality of the schnitzels before you buy them. Routinely we pan fry our schnitzels but these ones advised to cook in the oven. So we panned ahead and bought some roast veggies to make turning on the oven worthwhile. Pleased to report that the plastic film on the meat tray peeled away very easily Placed the 4 schnitzels on a lined baking tray and cooked in the oven for 20 minutes as per instructions. I like that I didnât need to use any oil to cook them as well. They were a nice size and thick compared to other Woolworths schnitzels Iâve had. Cutting into them, they were juicy and tender. They had a soft consistency and slightly mushy which lends itself to the idea that theyâre made from processed chicken. But they tasted amazing probably owing a bit to the Panko crumb. Didn't seem like proper chicken meat to me. When we picked these up, both my wife and I commented that the schnitzels were 'of a decent size', and they looked like they should make a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, we were both wrong on that call. We have since eaten them on two separate occasions for dinner; the first time plain (with salad), and then the second time (tonight) with some Neapolitana sauce with some melted cheese to try to make it into a pseudo 'parmi'. On both occasions, the schnittys were edible, but neither of us would go much past that with our comments. Probably the biggest disappointments were that on neither occasion were they perticularly tasty, and the 'meat' in the schnittys appears to be 'minced chicken' that has been reconstituted into ... MoreDidn't seem like proper chicken meat to me. On both occasions, the schnittys were edible, but neither of us would go much past that with our comments. Probably the biggest disappointments were that on neither occasion were they perticularly tasty, and the 'meat' in the schnittys appears to be 'minced chicken' that has been reconstituted into schnitzel shapes and then crumbed. We have two or three eateries down by us that feature 'schnitty nights' on their specials menus, and all of them use proper chicken breast meat in their schnitzels. All of the schnitzels in these outlets are both delicious AND filling, but a definite downside in this instance is that it makes 'processed meat schnittys' hard to swallow. Sadly, such was the case with this Woolies product.
Where's the chicken? Crunchy? Yes. Filling? Yes. Tasty chicken? Not so sure. With processed chicken only making up 50% of these schnitzels, its flavour doesn't really come through. Too much filler (rice flour, soya protein) to be a good choice for chicken. The crumb is just regular/traditional breadcrumb, not really panko which would be much coarser. These do make an okay sandwich or wrap filling with lettuce/cheese/tomato/mayo. The schnitzels are easy to cook in oven or air-fryer. Not great value when compared with the deli options, and like-wise are a thawed product (so shouldn't be re-frozen). Recyclable packaging and 92% Australian ingredients.
