Liked the taste, will buy if on special. I did like the taste of this bread and ate 3 slices with spread and Vegemite after dinner because it enjoyed it. As far as taste goes, this is pretty good for GF bread, though my personal preference is for more chewiness and seeds. It is not my favourite but I would buy it again if on special. At $6. 50 a small loaf I find this overly expensive, but then GF breads are more expensive than normal bread. As for the packaging, there was a small peel off corner that was helpful in opening but not strong enough to seal on its own, so I put the bread in another plastic bag and froze it, which is what I normally do to preserve taste and texture. I did enjoy the bread more than I thought I would. Edit: I note from the other reviews ... MoreLiked the taste, will buy if on special. I lived in Melbourne briefly near a boutique supermarket which had plenty of GF bread, and wheat-free bread, so tasty and reasonably priced, not previously frozen. It would be nice if Woolies could do the same but I'm not holding my breath.

Gluten free bread. I've never tried gluten free bread before, so I was very interested to see what it was like. It took me a few goes to find the wholemeal variety which I took as a good sign that it was sold out the first few times I tried to find it. Once it was in stock it was easy to find on the shelf. The price of $6 for 450g was very expensive but I do understand it is more expensive to produce gluten free products. I didn't like the packaging at all. It tore when I opened it and even if it didn't there was no way to reseal it. Adding the ability to reseal would be a huge improvement. I had to put in in another plastic bag to keep it fresh. As a fresh sandwich I found that it was soft to touch but was quite dry to eat. I'm not sure if this is how most gluten free breads are normally though. It did however toast up well. I also found it very sweet tasting which I don't like in a bread. I don't eat a lot of bread so ended up freezing most of the loaf, which as it had already been frozen once by the store, I wasn't really keen to do but Google said it was ok to refreeze bread. It defrosted well to be toasted but not to have again fresh. I did blitz a few pieces when I needed breadcrumbs for meatballs, and it worked really well for this. As I'm not gluten intolerant I would have no need to buy this but if I was, I think I would go without because of the overall texture when fresh but mainly due to the high price.

Thanks So Much @BunchTeam for the Gluten Free Wholemeal Bread is found in the Bread Aisle of my Local Woolie's, it's a very popular bread and hard to find at times. Shelf Price $6. 25 for a small loaf of Gluten Free Wholemeal Bread which I find to be quite expensive because of being Gluten Free. The Bread itself was Soft and didn't look like Wholemeal Bread because it was a much lighter colour, looking very much like white bread it was delicious too eat and would be very nice Toasted. For those People who are Gluten Free this Bread would be great for You myself personally I will stick to the Wholemeal Bread that I buy on a regular basis. Would recommend this Gluten Free Wholemeal Bread for those People that have Celiac disease. It would be great Bread that is very soft and has a high top on the bread giving, the Bread that Country Style look and Taste.
Wholemealy. I was not excited about this product because I love gluten and I have always thought gluten free products tasted awful. But, I cant pick and choose what I review here so I started with the crust with a bit of butter. The first thing I noticed was the bread did not look like a normal wholemeal loaf as it was much lighter in colour and with the addition of the seeds, looked more like a multigrain. Taking the first bite, I was surprised at how nice the bread tasted. No weird flavours, nice and soft, I would not even know it was gluten free. I also toasted a piece and added butter and vegemite and again, was very surprised at how this tasted like bread. My only complaint was the price. I am glad I can tolerate gluten but feel sorry for those who need these products and have to pay such a premium.
Wholemeal Gluten Free Bread. I do prefer wholemeal gluten bread and was happy to try this. Slices are the right size for either toast or making a sandwich. I normally have toast in the morning and top it with boiled egg. It was quite nice comparing it to the other name brand gluten free bread. It doesnât crumble like other bread when buttering either toasted or fresh. The bread is soft also to make a sandwich and it has a good amount of shelf life but I store my bread in the fridge. This will definitely be enough for me this week. My only negative is about the packaging. Once you get to pull the seal off there is no way to close it back up. I normally try to close the packet with a rubber band around the loaf and store it in the fridge so it doesnât go moldy or dry ... MoreWholemeal Gluten Free Bread. Most gluten free bread is sent to supermarkets frozen and they are thawed out before placing them on their shelves. I know there is bakeries that sell fresh loaves. This loaf is expensive at $6. 50 to throw out. Probably you could still use it if it dries out by making bread crumbs or soaking the bread in milk and adding it into meat balls or meatloaf. Thank you Bunch. I did enjoy the loaf and will buy again.
Inconveniently Defrosted. Woolworths Free from Gluten Wholemeal Bread 450gPrice: $6. 25. Very expensive for its small sizeInstore Location: The Bunch info said this would be in the Bakery section. Not a good spot for someone as tall as me. If I hadn't been told it was on the very bottom shelf, then I probably wouldn't have noticed it there. Product of: Made In Australia from at least 44% Australian ingredientsGeneral: - When I picked up this package in the store, it was covered in moisture and quite cold. Sadly, this is a frozen product that has been pre-thawed ... apparently for 'my' convenience.... but having it pre-thawed was NOT convenient at all. I would much rather have grabbed this out of the freezer and thawed each slice as I needed it. Once opened, the loaf is supposed to be used in 3 days.... and I am guessing you can't refreeze any of it. Because I can't refreeze it, I am going to have to throw at least half of this loaf away. For $6. 25... that's a huge, sad waste of food. - Despite the slices being cold when I got the bread home, they were sufficiently thawed. I immediately buttered a slice and ate some of it. - The texture was very different to the bread I normally eat, but it was not objectionable. - The flavour was quite mild. I can't believe I am saying this, but it almost needed a little salt to give it a lift I think. Eating the bread plain.... it could only be described as plain and unremarkable in flavour. *Bottom *Side *Slice - The size of the loaf and size of each slice was quite small compared to my usual bread choice. - I decided to make a cheese and pickle sandwich. My first bite was too cold, so I put the whole sandwich in my microwave for 10 seconds just to take the chill off. It was much more enjoyable after doing that. Obviously it hadn't been thawed for long in the store. - The bag was impossible to close up again. I slid the whole loaf into a large magic seal bag and as directed, placed it into my fridge. I hate cold bread. I'm going to have to remember to take out some slices and leave them to sit at room temperature before I next use them. Overall: A little plain by itself but quite a suitable flavour and texture for a sandwich. Once it had toppings, I didn't feel the bread itself needed any extra ingredients. I remain very disappointed that I can't freeze some of the leftover slices and will have to throw them into my compost bin. Why oh why can't Woolworths leave their frozen bakery products FROZEN for our convenience, not thawed?Whilst I recommend this as a nice bread for those who need to, or prefer to eat GF, I give full warning that you will need to be able to eat the whole loaf within three days. *One star off for the high cost. *One star off for poor instore location of a defrosted product that needs to be sold with haste. * One star off for being defrosted, not still frozen. Fresh would have been even better. This will not be a repurchase for me unless I can get one still frozen.
Great Option. We don't need gluten free food; however, have tried different kinds of foods in the past, so I was interested to try this bread. The bread was easy to find in the bread aisle. At $6. 50 for the 450 gram loaf, it is on the expensive side and comparable to "branded" versions as they are bigger in size with an increase to the price. The plastic wrapping was very hard to open and ripped. We had to put the rest of the loaf in a zip lock bag to keep it fresh on the benchtop. My previous experience with gluten free bread was dense, small, square slices, which I didn't mind the texture and taste of. This bread was much closer to a non-gluten free bread - I couldn't tell the difference. My husband tried using the bread for a peanut butter sandwich and he said ... MoreGreat Option. Frozen then Thawed. One star off immediately for this being frozen and thawed - honestly if someone in the household needed gluten free bread the rest of the household would be hardly likely to eat the gluten free too as it's much too expensive so being unable to freeze any is ridiculous. For gluten free diets it is possibly a good but expensive alternative. An interesting sample but something I personally don't need. I do feel for those who need gluten free products as they are expensive.
Good alternative but dry. This wholemeal gluten free bread is a great alternative for those that are gluten intolerant but found it a bit dry.
