Very nice for a great priced fakeaway meal at home :). We really like these fish fillets and they make a really cheap and fast meal at home when we are on the go. Usually we cook these in the slow combustion oven we have with chips and in summer add some salad or in winter some nice steamed vegetables is lovely. These are an occasional addition to our household menu for something a little different from red meat or chicken dishes. 14 fish fillets per pack with 2 fillets per serve per person, a good price of $10 compared to other more expensive brands, the fish is Alaskan pollock which is sustainably sourced, a 3. 5 star health rating, no artificial colours or flavours, packed in Australia from at least 40% Australian ingredients and the box is recyclable. Yes I would recommend these to others as a nice cheaper meal alternative at $1. 43 per serve and to have as a quick backup meal alternative in the freezer. We would buy these again.

Just Right. I have been lucky enough to receive two samples of fish in the last couple of weeks. The first box was the crumb fish from woolies. Then last week got offered the Battered fish box Woolies brand. I am a huge fish eater, more the fresh fish than the frozen fish. But as with the crumbed fish, i am just as impressed with this battered fish as well. On a plate with a bit of lettuce, cue, tomato, red onion and a dash of lemon on the batter, this we so nice. I thought the batter would be thick but it was just perfect with the amount of fish. 2 pieces of fish in the oven and on my plate in a very short amount of time with the salad was the perfect lunch time meal. Will definetly buy this again.

Delicious taste and quality! After cooking it in the air fryer, then under the griller for a couple of minutes to crisp up any soft areas of batter, it tasted as good as (and even better than) battered fish from a "fish and chip" shop - crisp on the outside with a nice texture and delicious flavour of fish inside. I also seasoned it lightly with salt. My usual, favourite frozen battered fish has been I&J's 1kg pack for $13, but this Woolworths brand is $2 cheaper (at $11/1kg) and tasted just as good - it's like they were made in the same factory using the same process, just a different shape. This will now be my new favourite purchase for frozen battered fish! The only problem is that I could not find this in my local Woolworths store (Findon, SA) - they only had ... MoreDelicious taste and quality! Not bad, just not our thing. Battered fish is a regular purchase in our household, though not from this supermarket, so we were excited for the opportunity to trial this product. We were also fortunate to also be offered the crumbed variety to trial, so we were really able to evaluate this thoroughly. THE GOOD:* The ingredients are mostly natural. * My daughter loved the flavour, and preferred it to the crumbed variety. * Quick and easy to cook. * Considerably cheaper than the name brand alternatives. * Box is recyclable. THE BAD:* Could be made from Alaskan Pollock or New Zealand Hoki -- they don't specify which, and both have considerable food miles. * Although each fillet is quite small, they still manage to pack 17% of the RDI of fat into each one. Seems a lot. ... MoreNot bad, just not our thing. Battered fish is a regular purchase in our household, though not from this supermarket, so we were excited for the opportunity to trial this product. Seems a lot. THE INDETERMINATE:* Each fillet is quite small compared with the brand we would normally purchase. * Unlike the crumbed variety, milk is listed as a potential allergen, alongside gluten and (of course!) fish. We don't have issues with these ingredients, but others are definitely not so fortunate. THE CONCLUSION:If we are unable to buy our regular battered fish from our usual supermarket, I might consider this as an alternative. Unfortunately, the high fat percentage, small serving size, and inconsistent fish component prevent this from being a regular purchase for us. As always, we remain grateful to Bunch for the opportunity to try new things.
IDEAL QUICK MEAL FOR A FRIDAY NIGHT IN LENT. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of portions in the 1kg box. The portion size was ideal for our adult family of three (my husband having two, and my daughter and myself settling on one each). Popped them into the oven on a Friday night, together with a generous serving of frozen chips and voila, a nice quick and easy meal with very little washing up. I liked the batter coating (usually I buy crumbed - its healthier :)) but when I bit into the portion I encountered some 'creaminess' so not sure whether I would perhaps cook them for a few more minutes next time, than the 18 minutes recommended. When this offer dropped my Woolies didn't have any in stock so I thought I would miss out, but lo and behold there in the ... MoreIDEAL QUICK MEAL FOR A FRIDAY NIGHT IN LENT. Well done Woolies and thank you for the opportunity to try another Woolies brand product.
Woolworths Frozen Fish Fillets Battered 1kg. Haven't tried this item previously but very pleasantly surprised. 14 pieces in the 1 kg box for $10 which makes it very economical for families. Cooked in airfryer and the batter was crisp while the inside was lovely and soft. Very mild tasting fish so well received by kids too. Only improvements I could suggest is a cooking suggestion time for airfryer on panel as had to guess cooking time and keep an eye on it as airfryer usually cooks quicker than the oven. Excellent product. 5/5 from us. Thanks Bunch for another excellent product to try and review.
A rather big box indeed. I picked this up today which I almost didn't as it was a rather big box indeed & there was no way it was going to fit into the freezer. I did take the one box that was pushed right to the back of the freezer as I saw lots of 'not available' or 'out of stock' stickers on a lot of freezer products. And once home I opened the box to put it into freezer bags to store in the freezer. Once the box was opened you could see a bit of space in the box so I would suggest to slimline the box by even just a bit as the box is way too big for the contents. The cooking instructions don't appear to be quite right as it states to pre-heat to 220 degrees yet it then has 200 degrees in the blue circles with the time & there is nothing about reducing 220 to 200 ... MoreA rather big box indeed. I just pre-heated to 200 to then cook on that & it turned out. Lots of grease/oil came out from the batter during the cooking process which was a tad off putting. Although the fish inside was a lovely light flaky fish which had a really nice taste to it. We had fish sandwiches for dinner & I removed the batter from mine to enjoy the nice flaky fish & my other half enjoyed his sandwich & then ate my batter. I've purchased the Woolies HB crumbed fish which is not as oily/greasy & I think I will continue to buy that over the battered one. I did really like the price of $10 for the 1kg box which is very economical especially for a family however if I buy frozen fish on the odd occasion I tend to buy the smaller box of 6 which suits us better.
Tasty fish. My family really loved this fish. Comes in a 1kg recyclable cardboard box containing battered fish fillets. 14 pieces, 3. 5 star health rating with no added colours or flavours, and sustainably sourced. Packed in Australia from at least 40% Australian ingredients. The only thing I wish was that sugar wasn’t added to this product-not necessary. Easy to cook at 220 degrees ceclcius convention oven or 200 degrees fan forced. I cooked mine on non stick baking paper for 18 minutes, and made home made potato chips, with a green salad. Priced at $10. 00. I will buy again.
Delicious. We normally buy crumbed frozen fish fillets but this was a delicious alternative. We cooked them in our air fryer and the batter was so crunchy. This was a great way to cook them as excess oil was drained from the batter which makes them a healthy dinner. We love this way of cooking our Woolies frozen fish fillets with different veges or salad. My favourite is microwaved kumera, mashed with butter, salt, pepper and a little finely grated ginger. My husband is watching me write this and he (the occasional sous chef haha) wants to make it known he makes incredibly delicious kumera mash and loves the crunch of the battered fish on top - positioned chef style on top while I add my mandatory greens on the side. Oily. I usually prefer crumbed fish, so regularly buy that, but I have picked these up once before by mistake & found them so oily that I actually felt sick after eating them. However, my usual method of cooking is just in the oven. Another Bunchee recommended that I try them in the air fryer instead. I’ve had an air fryer given to me and it’s just been sitting there waiting to be used, so today was the day! First time using our air fryer and I chose to try out these fish. As expected, a LOT of oil dropped out of these during the cooking process. The end result was still a little oily (but much less so, thanks to the excess draining out) and nice and crispy! MUCH better result and definitely how I’ll be cooking the rest of these fish portions.
