Excellent value. I had tried the more expensive boxed fruit mince pies and thought they were pretty good. But I must say after trying these budget ones I would stick with these ones. I think these are better. They have a softer pastry and much more filling than the expensive ones. The fruit filling is really nice and tasty. Each pie comes in its own foil tray which it looks like they have been baked in. Then they are packed in a clear plastic tray with an outer plastic bag. You can clearly see what you are buying through the packaging. I think the lattice tops on these ones looks really nice. I served cold straight from the pack but there are instructions on the back to heat if you so desire. They are delicious cold. Price was just $2. 75 for the six pack. Rich and crumbly. Great packaging that protects the productSuch a shame it offers a 1 star health rating. 6 for the price is not too bad for a cheap snack / dessert. Ingredients list is a mile long, but the "best before" date IS far away so I guess that explains something. The serving size is just right, not too large. Each little pie is filled to the brim, no excess air The taste was extremely rich, I found it quite overpowering which left me with an aftertaste. But I have not previously enjoyed mince pies. The shortbread crust was just the right thickness for holding the pie together and crumbled perfectly. They are very high in sugar (what isn't at Christmas time? )Greatful for the opportunity to try, however I will not purchase these in future.

Searched high and low. Well it seems like these are either very popular or just not stocked everywhere. I tried several stores before I could find them. They are tasty and hold together well. Slightly hard pastry and maybe a bit too light coloured. They almost look like they aren't fully cooked. Which is an interesting point since instructions say to warm in the oven. I was actually confused as to whether they were cooked or I had to cook them before eating?? Maybe those heating instructions need to be clearer that it's just optional and not a necessity? You don't usually need to cook fruit mince pies. Warmed up they were spicy jammy in taste and consistency and a nice little treat with ice cream. Good price point at $2. 75 for 6. SWEET but TASTY. I warmed these up for about 6 minutes in the oven and served them with vanilla custard. Double the suggested heating time. The pies themselves were cute and came in their foil case. I put the pie and foil case in the oven on a thin tray. The pastry was nice and a good thickness. There was a nice flavour to the fruit mince but boy it was super super sweet. I think I will still make my zesty fruit mince bars (my bunch recipe) for Christmas. A bit more effort but a much better balance of flavours and sweetness. Great value treat. These were out of stock for a couple of weeks but are back in stock now. I usually try to resist buying seasonal treats like these until closer to the event but both my husband & I thoroughly enjoyed these early Christmas treats. We ate them straight from the pack without additional ingredients like custard or cream. We both felt that there was good quantity of fruit mince filling in relation to the amount of pastry & I prefer the lattice top to the solid pastry one. I was surprised that these were made in New Zealand & by the vast number of ingredients listed but most were natural without artificial flavours & coloursI will definitely be buying more packets of these closer to christmas as they are a great price to add to the festive dessert ... MoreGreat value treat. Surprisingly delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect with these budget priced mince pies. They were a little tricky to find in the bakery section, but they were in a box on the floor quite low down. 6 lattice style mince pies in the packet were nicely presented with each in a foil casing. The shortcrust pasty was a little dry, but probably because they were made a fair time ago. The fruit mince was a tad too sweet, but was plentiful in the pastry casing. Warmed up with icecream or by themselves enhanced the flavours and made the pastry less dry. A Sprinkle of icing sugar or sugar granuals would look good. As I make my own every year, I wouldn't have the need to purchase, but it's great to know these are available if I go on strike in the kitchen
Okay for the price. I don't normally buy these because they are Made in New Zealand, however, we did collect the sample to try. The expiration date was over 4 months away, which gives it a long shelf life but also given they weren't freshly baked - they had a dry pastry texture. The filling was more paste-like than chunky fruit, and was very sweet - overly sweet. It needed more cinnamon and other spices, combined with lemon zest, to balance what otherwise tasted like sugary sultana paste. The pastry was thick, dry and hard. When cold it was perhaps too hard, but warmed a little the pastry did soften. Not bad for the price, but would prefer mince pies with more butter pastry and chunkier fruit filling. I noticed the recommendation was to eat with custard, I think ... MoreOkay for the price. I don't normally buy these because they are Made in New Zealand, however, we did collect the sample to try. Lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed these Fruit Mince Pies. The Shortcrust Pastry was crispy and the filling was sweet and flavoursome and we found they were a perfect size to have with a cuppa. I personally like them slightly heated but did also try without doing this and both ways were delicious. The pack I had came with a lengthy expiration date which didn’t expire until February 2023. Easily found in the bakery section. This is a lovely treat to have for Christmas and works out economical at only $2. 75 for the pack of 6. I can see myself purchasing again and can recommend you try them for yourselves. Thank you Woolworths for introducing me to this lovely product.
Good value mince pies. Not normally a huge fan of the traditional fruit mince pies and usually pass them around rather than eating them myself but this year I tried and tested them personally. I found the short crust pastry to be a little on the thick side therefore also a little on the hard side luckily the top of them had a nice little lattice top through which you could see fruit mince of which there was plenty. The fruit mince was a little on the sweet side for me but the little tart was certainly not lacking in filling as you can see by the Photo. Easy to find in the bakery section with its very simple cellophane packaging with the Woolworths symbol and Cleary written next to it 6 short crust mince pies. Made in New Zealand. Value for money……. Excellent at $2. 75 for a packet of 6 making them less than 46 cents per tart.
Friends & hubby liked these. I really dislike fruit mince pies so when I got this sample (and the other Woolies brand one - see my other review), I decided to keep them for my friends to try. My friends and hubby enjoyed these pies. They said the pastry was nice and crumbly and the filling tasted as it should. I tried a little bit and didn't like it at all but I already expected that. To me they were overly sweet and the taste of citrus peels was too strong for me. Strangely, there was no mention of any fruit on the packaging. There was also no mention of any alcohol. My friends and hubby said they couldn't taste any brandy or rum, so maybe there wasn't any alcohol in these pies. Pretty little pies with a lattice top in a simple clear plastic packaging.
