Must come from a "no smoking zone"!! I love smoked oysters - fresh or tinned. I almost did not even try these as they come from China! Surely we have enough oyster farms in Australia to meet demand without importing them from of all places, China. I decided I would at least give them a taste and was totally disappointed. If they were in springwater, they were swimming in a lot of oily substance as well. The taste was bland and they were really chewy. I will not be revisiting the shelf for these I am afraid Woolies. Thanks for the opportunity to discover what is out there.

Smokey Oysters. The smoked oysters in spring water were enjoyable to try, however they tended to lack that distinct Smokey flavour. Oysters can be an acquired taste. These oysters were in spring water rather than oil, which was a nice change. The majority of the oysters were plump and a good size. The oysters were nice to try with a little olive oil and fresh herbs. This added a little more excitement and flavour. These tined oysters provide a convenient alternative to fresh oysters. The price point is reasonable and would consider buying these again. Thanks for the opportunity to try this product.

Taste Better Than They Look! Let's be honest, a tin of smoked oysters does not look appealing, but this is definitely a time to not judge a book by it's cover. I decided to just grab a snack and eat these straight out of the tin, as I was busy and needed some protein. And it did the job. The smoky flavour was quite subtle, with the oyster disintegrating slightly, before a chewy finish, which was not unpleasant. You could top crackers with these and add some sauces or some herbs and cheese, to make it a really tasty snack. These were very easy to find. Top shelf in the tinned fish aisle, next to the sardines. I probably wouldn't buy these myself, but if someone asked me if they liked fish and smoked meats, should they try it. I would say yes, you should give it a go.

Quite salty. Full disclosure, I am not someone who eats oysters, let alone smoked ones. However, I gave this a go. The can of Woolworths Smoked Oysters In Springwater was generous, with the oysters packed in with a small amount of spring water. The smoky flavour was pretty subtle, almost undetectable so if this is your thing you may be disappointed. The oysters were pretty chewy texturally, but not unpleasantly so. The main issue I had with the Woolworths Smoked Oysters In Springwater was the level of salt. They were just too salty for my palate and I really struggled to eat them. If you're a fan of tinned fish, you may find these just the thing for added to your dishes.

70's classic. Woolies smoked oysters in spring water did bring back some memories - They were served at my parents dinner parties back in the 70's. Of course the kids were sent down stairs to eat fish fingers and wonder what oysters on crackers would taste like. Well I've had the opportunity so here goes... Not so nice. They say fresh is best for a reason. I didn't find the flavour so bad but they did have a fair bit of chew. I would say that the canning has keep them fairly fresh but the disappointment was that they were a product of China when we have great oysters right here in Aus. Compared to fresh oysters, the price point was amazing though.

Tasty On Top of a Biscuit. When I received this sample, I knew my husband would love to try these as he loves eating them as a snack especially when he's out on the water fishing. The blue packaging is quite attractive and made them easy to find on the shelf. The serving suggestion pictured on the front is spot on as my husband always enjoys his smoked oysters on a dry biscuit too. The can was easy to open with the ring pull and the oysters were nicely packed. Although my husband prefers smoked oysters in oil, he said that they were tasty and that they had the right amount of smoky flavour. He also enjoyed how they were plump in size and not small like other brands he has previously tried. Disappointed . I was very disappointed in these oysters I was thoroughly looking forward to eating them. I have a fantastic smoked oyster soup which is so delicious but these oysters just didn't crack it. first of all I could find when they expire just random numbers on the tin, then I read they were imported from China. Why? We have perfectly fantastic oysters in Australia. Why are we importing these? And the taste was just average, they tasted metallic like the tin they were in. I would not recommend and I will not purchase this again

Woolies, you are testing my limits now! Okay, so product of China is my first issue. We don't produce oysters in Australia? I do eat fresh oysters so I was prepared to give these a go. I can imagine some people may see them as a great "snack" and may even go to the trouble of presenting them beautifully on a mini bread with sauce and a sprig of something green (as per the picture on the front of the product) however I took the plunge and tasted them direct from the can. Okay, so it took a bit of Dutch courage and I had a glass of cordial at the ready (just in case). Feeling like a contestant on a game show, I ate one.... even chewing it before swallowing. Not that flavoursome, not that fishy, no squidgy bits, basically quite rubbery.... not quite what I was ... MoreWoolies, you are testing my limits now! Okay, so product of China is my first issue. The rest of the household ran away when I offered them one though so the presentation is an issue. Overall, not likely to buy this one again.

Hubby was very underwhelmed. Tiny box was not easy to spot on the shelf, even though it is bright blue in colour. I am also lucky to be able to reach the top shelf easily because that was where it was located (too tall for some to reach, especially being such a small box). Hubby mentioned that the Smokey flavour was nice, not too overwhelming, but the oysters had quite a chalky texture which was quite unpleasant. We'd never purchase these, especially being an imported product that is clearly far less superior than the fresh local produce that we can and do get here. Fresh is best, no comparison on this one - would rather pay more for the better quality.

Smokey. So full disclaimer, I've never tried oysters before. I've been working myself up to trying these for about a week. Only after talking to someone who eats smoked oysters all the time, I was convinced they would be good. I've learned there is another food I do not like. Smoked oysters in springwater, paired with a lovely quinoa water cracker.... ended with me eating half a jar of the pickles my wife doesn't like, to get the taste out of my mouth. I will say though, they did have a lovely distinct smokey flavour to them and their texture was firm, (similar to that of an olive). Without anything to compare it to, I decided to give these 3 stars, on the account of how many oysters were in the package, their smokey-ness, and their country of origin (China), and ... MoreSmokey. I can confirm, however, that Labradors enjoy smoked oysters.
