LOVE IT - GREAT ALL ROUNDER. I love custard, brings back a lot of childhood memories when our mum had time to make it from scratch and eating the skin from the top once cooled down (with 3 kids you had to make sure you were johnny on the spot to get it or war world III broke out). Enough from memory lane. I don't buy a lot of custard, only the custard powder because I use it to make a custard cake and make the odd jug for sweets. We have banana with custard for a quick easy desert. Goes really well with ice cream as a topping also. Great coming into winter to have with the self sauce puddings and of course you have to have it at christmas time with plum pudding, it is just one of those products that goes hand in hand with certain items to make them taste even ... MoreLOVE IT - GREAT ALL ROUNDER. This pre made custard tastes great and is very convenient I was just having it on its own for something sweet after dinner when you just feel like that little bit extra. All I can say is YUM YUM YUM get it into my TUM.

Convenient, Creamy Custard. Living in a house full of custard lovers, this sample was very enthusiastically received.... thanks Woolworths! This product was easy to find in the refrigerated section of the store, along with the other custards. A sturdy carton ensured that my sample made it home safely and intact but also made the product easy to store in the fridge and easy to open. I love that this packaging is recyclable too!I served this custard alongside a simple fruit crumble for dessert and it was delicious. Sweet and creamy with a good vanilla hit. All the adults were extremely happy with their dessert and enjoyed the custard thoroughly. My two munchkins also gave the custard a huge thumbs up by happily consuming it all on its own. A great sized package for families. We used ours for dessert over two nights, feeding a total of 5 adults and 4 children with a little still left over. At $3. 10 for a kilogram, this product is great value, especially when you compare it to its name-brand competitors. My only suggestions would be that the sugar content could be lowered just a touch (it is a very sweet custard) and that it could be just a tad thicker too. The custard pours well but doesn't really 'sit' on a dessert effectively. 97% fat free with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Australian made from 94% Australian ingredients Simple, eye-catching packaging but has the potential to be easily confused with another brand which also has a yellow carton. Overall, a winning product in this household and one that I am likely to purchase again - particularly when a quick, no-fuss dessert is needed.

Love this Custard! This is one of my favorite instant custards. I have bought it before and will keep doing so as well. I just love that it isn't overwhelmingly sweet but the texture and consistency is just about right for what I use it for. This time around I made a fruit salad and poured some custard with that when serving. The flavor of the custard with the fruit just complimented each other. I love the mix. I also had a piece of cake and added some custard to the cake and it was delicious. This custard is a definite add to my monthly shopping list and I recommend it highly.

Good To The Last Drop. The first thing I noticed when looking in store for this custard is that the size, shape and colour of the recyclable carton are very similar to the Paul’s brand of custard. I can appreciate that the colour yellow is used because you immediately associate it with the colour of custard, but to me it didn’t make the product stand out in the refrigerated section, potentially making it easier to mistakenly put up the wrong carton. I also think the 97% fat free wording could be made more prominent, it’s too small and could go unnoticed by consumers specifically looking for this type of product. This custard is so versatile too, it can be enjoyed hot or cold on its own, incorporated in a dessert, paired with fresh or cooked fruit, or you can, like we did, pour lashings of it over homemade apple crumble. Once you start eating this custard it’s very hard to stop, so needless to say it didn’t last long in my fridge. It’s nice to see it’s made in Australia from 94% Australian ingredients as well, and it comes with a handy Trifle recipe on the carton for good measure. The health star rating of 3 is not too bad but, for the health conscious something to consider is (purely because it does taste so good) while the custard is low in fat, it’s sugar content is a little high at 14. 1 grams per 100 grams. We really enjoyed this delicious custard and priced at only $3. 10 for the 1 kilo carton I know I’ll definitely be buying it again and again and again...

Nice for the price. I am a big custard lover often having it with jelly or banana as an after dinner snack. My love for custard also means I can be a bit of a snob opting for the more fancy varieties that sling the old "made with real vanilla bean". I have never tried the Woolworths brand custard before but I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted pretty good, however, there was a few notable differences. It was definitely a lot sweeter than its competitors and had more an artificial vanilla taste, similar to the homebrand vanilla icecream you'd remember from when you were a kid. It was also not very thick (a similar consistency to pouring cream), which I think would go better with something that would soak it up, like an apple pie, compared to eating it as I normally ... MoreNice for the price. One thing I would be curious to see was how "97% fat free" the product really is compared to its competitors especially how much sweeter it is

Had this Xmas Day but will now be an all Year for Us. Wow bought this for Christmas day to have with the pudding and Ice Cream but once I tasted it I snuck a bit extra on its own. It was really really nice custard. Everyone at my house agreed. Great flavour, great price will become our staple custard. If you love custard give it a go and 97% Fat Free guess what I couldn't tell but to me that is a bonus. Only wish is came in a 2litre size as I often buy the other brand in this size when Custard becomes a dessert cycle for the house so everyone gets some for a couple of days.

Really creamy. I really liked this custard. Its low fat but its full of flavour and custardy goodness. I have bought this again and will do so with the lead up to Christmas. I make my own Christmas puddings and love o smother them in the custard. Great taste and truly delish. Mind you I can quite easily open the carton and drink it straight! Is that wrong?

Nice vanilla flavour. I love custard so was excited for this sample as I typically make it from a custard powder rather than purchase ready made. I found it to be sweet but not over the top at all. I enjoyed it with fresh banana as a lunchtime snack. It coats the bowl and spoon well, however I found it a little on the runny side. I'm guessing this is for ease of pouring from the carton but I personally do prefer it a little thicker. It had a pleasant vanilla flavour which I likened to the taste of melted vanilla ice cream. It is creamy and smooth and I like that it is low fat, yet hasn't lost the creaminess. I would purchase again if I was short on time and wanted for desserts.

Visually identical, not so much with the taste. Custard is one of those things that I don't eat often but when I do, boy am I a fan! I think it may be partly why I didn't take to this one as much as I would the competing brands. If I'm eating something only occasionally, I want to know that the taste will be what I expect it to be. The colour, density and pouring consistency of the custard was what I expected it to be - comfortably familiar. I'm afraid though that this ended with the taste test. It left an aftertaste that didn't disappear whether you were eating two spoons or a bowl's worth. The taste of artificial vanilla and sweetness was quite overpowering. The custard was still fully eaten by my family but it wasn't as reached for as the one's we'd usually buy. ... MoreVisually identical, not so much with the taste. The custard was still fully eaten by my family but it wasn't as reached for as the one's we'd usually buy. It was fine to eat but not in the sense that I'd buy it again. I'd prefer to spend a little extra and get the taste that screams classic custard to me, not just the appearance of it. Was glad to see that the ingredients are 94% Australian. Like many marketing tactics you see in the supermarket these days, the box here proclaims that it's 97% fat free. This is true and it's also true that it's very high in sugar. Although I understand that many are trying to cash in on the 'healthy food' angle, there's always room for misinterpretation. This may be low in fat but it's still not an ideal option for everyday. This is where it pays to be vigilant in checking the ingredients and nutrition table to make a conscious decision about what's right for you, not based just on the marketing highlight reel. The packaging was fun, bright and sturdy. Was pleased that there's no artifical flavour, colours or preservatives in it. It was easy to find in store. Good value for money.

Sweet Treat. I’ve never purchased custard before, preferring to make my own (which admittedly I don’t do often) but I’m always looking for shortcuts so was really looking forward to sampling this product. Easily located in the dairy aisle, the bright carton was close in style to the other custards for sale which could cause confusion. Regardless, I liked the packaging which was easy to open and allowed for effective pouring. My husband (who LOVES store bought custard, a throwback to his youth) joked that he would happily drink it straight from the carton! My husband (who LOVES store bought custard, a throwback to his youth) joked that he would happily drink it straight from the carton! I served my sample for dessert following a Sunday Roast Beef dinner. I cooked a homemade Jam Roly Poly pudding (recipe pending publication - keep your eyes out) which was the perfect companion for this product. As expected for a sweet treat, this custard was sweet but not overly so - the perfect proportion of sugar. In addition, it had a mild vanilla flavour. However, it did taste like it came from a carton. Not in a really bad way, but it didn’t taste like freshly made custard. It was also a little too runny for our liking. Having said that, it was a huge hit with everyone and the kids asked for seconds! We only used about half a carton in one sitting yet the carton states it will last opened for a week, so it shouldn’t go to waste. One thing that surprised me was that there was no serving instructions (re: heating) on the carton. I’ve never had cold custard before so was planning on heating it. Yes, I can work out to put it in the microwave but I would have thought that would be on the packaging. Either way, I ended up serving this cold straight from the carton in an attempt to cool down our pudding as we didn’t want to wait. Would I buy this again? Probably not. It’s not the healthiest option (3 star rating) so it’s a definite treat - and one that I would prefer to make myself. Would my family want me to buy this again? Absolutely!
