The frozen vege challenge. OK I have to admit this one challenged me on many levels. Growing up, the youngest of 4, my gorgeous Mum was often on autopilot by the time dinner preparations came around. Meat and 3 veg... three frozen veg became a staple and as a result, it's one of those things I avidly avoid now as a mother of two. So deep breath and a quick google search for inspiration and enter my creation of curried vegetable turnovers. My two teenage boys got pulled in for moral support and between us we made a vegetarian batch for me and one batch with meat for the teen boys. They came out of the oven smelling fabulous and became a satisfying dinner with loads of left overs for freezing and school lunches. Simple recipe - caramelise fresh garlic and a red onion on a slow heat with a little butter, add a handful of mince (optional), some thinly diced potatoes - brown in the pan before adding the frozen veg straight out of the pack, your favourite curried spices (we used garam masala, tumeric and cumin - but a regular curry paste would do the trick just as well). Add some puff pastry and bake until golden. Yummo.

Great for a curry, casserole or stew. This was easy to find on the shelf and says what it is. The packaging and price is good for what you get. I had it in a slow cooked lamb curry and added some pumpkin. Was delicious. And will do it again. We are lucky enough to be on a property and have a great vege garden, so other than peas we do t get a lot of frozen veges. These are a good option for when you want something not in season. With the ever increasing prices of fresh veggies this is a great fall back in the freezer

Just as good. We'd never really noticed this product in the freezer section before, and this offer made us look for it during the next shopping trip. Used the mix during a number of our meals (although one of the children pick out their cauliflower because they don't like it) and found it as good as any other brand of the same mix. We'll continue purchasing this mix in the future

Convenience. I do prefer fresh vegetables from frozen, but gave these a go. First observation was that there were a lot more carrot slices than anything else in the packet. I boiled these according to the packet instructions and they were fine. The kids weren’t overly keen saying they had a different taste to usual which they do being a frozen vegetable. Would be handy to have in the freezer as a convenient back up but I will stick to using fresh vegetables.
Value and convenience. Having a bag in the freezer means you always have vegies on hand. The preparation has been done so all that's needed is a few minutes in the microwave and you have a healthy accompaniment to any meal. One of the easiest convenience meals that's even faster than takeaway is a cooked chook and a side serve of these vegies. Whip up some gravy if you are feeling extravagant! It'll save time and money and frayed nerves after a day of WFH (working from home)Handy large bag for a family or just grab a single serve out for a single household. I would like the bag to be resealable but realise this would probably impact on the price. This size bag represents value for money and I'm really pleased that they are Aussie vegies (as they should be).
Handy. This was not a sample. 100% Homegrown in Australia. A 5 star Health star rating. I purchased these as a back up, in case I needed a quick meal. I, needed to make a quick soup, so cooked them up, and blended to puree and it made a delicious soup. I recommend these vegetables. The bag is return to store, for recycling.
Cheap Veggie Option. This was not a sample I claimed.. but we have had this in the house a lot. We now just buy it to go in our homemade dog food. I wouldn’t get it for my human family. Many times the carrots still have the hard green end bits cut up in the mix and the cauliflower isn’t great. It is a great option if you are on a budget and can’t afford fresh or a better quality frozen veg though.
Great staple to have in the house. We love our winter veg mix. So versatile. The size of each vegetable is good for all ages. The crinkle cut of the carrot make it interesting for kids to eat. Love that it’s all Australian veggies - we have the best. We always have a bag in our freezer. Highly recommend to everyone wanting to increase their veggie intake.
My go-to frozen vegetables. I always have frozen vegetables in the freezer because I live alone and there's no waste this way (and minimal preparation time). This product is my go-to frozen vegetable mix, because it's tasty, not too watery when cooked, and grown in Australia. I try to avoid mixes with peas and corn because they're too sweet for me, and this is a good alternative with plenty of other green and orange vegetables. It is a good blend for curries or casseroles as well as eating as-is (or with some herbs and lemon). The bag can be recycled in the Redcycle bin at the supermarket. This product is usually easy to find in the freezer. The packaging is clear. The price is also excellent value.
Value and convenience. The photo on the packet may not be telling the complete truth?I do always prefer the taste of fresh steamed vegetable. The snap frozen are ok. Not quite like fresh. The texture isn’t the same as fresh, they tend to be a little softer. But, that aside, for convenience, I still have frozen veggies in the freezer for the times when you can’t get out to shop or just can’t be bothered . They are still good value, even though they do contain a lot more carrot and beans than broccoli and cauliflower. I usually buy a packet of frozen veggies when shopping and will grab one of these again.
