Pretty entertaining despite some silly tropes and overall corn. As a fan of the WWZ book, I can't say this film is perfect. However, I can tell you the movie delivers in blockbuster fashion an entertaining zombie film. Sometimes you lament when Hollywood gets a hold of fan favorite IP, but other times you can be happy they at least tried. Supposedly has a sequel coming some day? I will watch that too for sure.

I enjoyed this movie. I liked the beginning with a lot of action and still a lot of action towards the ending of the movie. It feels like the world we live in now that anything can change. I was thinking what if this will happen someday. The traffic scene seems to start the movie off with a great domino effect of action. The virus has infected newyork city and keep me guessing as the action stirs up the pot. Brad pitt with the government went through a lot to investigate the truth and what is happening all around the world. The movie has bits and shows a lot of action around the world. The book is a good book also. This zombie movie is very cool and it had included a global scale virus zombie world war. The ending was very great. Having loved the story telling of the book I believe it was smart to change up aspects of the novel to fill into a movie. Smart and suspenseful the movie functions marvelously. Great directing and acting seal the deal.

While I do like the gore in a zombie film, this movie proved you don't need it. The zombies were frightening, the realistic science was there, warfare is taken into account, and overall it just felt like what would really happen if the zombie apocalypse happened. Marc Forster's directing was superb, showcasing both the epic scale of a global panic and war, while showing us the smaller battles and struggles that are happening everywhere else. This movie has the perfect transition, going from the massive blockbuster to a classic zombie movie setting. When it comes to acting, it was great. There were only two moments where the dialogue didn't quite match (when Gerry talks to Warmbrunn about the wall in Jerusalem), and even though there won't be any Awards the acting was still great. The visuals were happily polished, being more realistic, especially having both CG and practical zombies, with amazing make-up. You can see my review of the musical score on the soundtrack's page (by Marco Beltrami). But then there is the cinematography. Words cannot describe how impressive it was to see all the locations and sites, especially Jerusalem. Plus, this is only the start. WWZ kick-starts what should and can be a trilogy, just showing us the outbreak, spread and beginning struggles with the undead. There is so much more to come. World War Z is not for everyone, but anyone who appreciates well-made action movies, a thrilling epic, or some good freak-out moments, this is your treat.
I love this movie! My review is about the Blue-ray edition: after watching the movie in the movie theater, I was so anxious waiting for the DVD, but when I got it and watched for the first time, I realized that there was some footage missing, probably not a big deal, but those 18 or so extra minutes includes some really intense and thrilling scenes at the beginning of the movie in my opinion. I got this Blu-ray a few days ago and I got so excited to find out that those missing scenes are included on this Unrated version, besides the picture and sound quality is way much better than the DVD and the digital copy included is a plus. Great upgrade to one of my favorite movies!!!
Great movie! I just watched it for the 100th time on a well-known streaming channel. I bought the bluray/dvd/digital for the unrated version that contains extra footage. It came in mint condition.
The zombie movie of the year for 2013 and it still holds up as quite an action paced flick. I think Brad did a great job for his role and in fact, the cast did as well. There were no slow spots in this movie and if you are a horror fan, I think you will like this one.A ravaging virus has taken control of the Earth's population with tragic results, but Brad Pitt, who is one of the main characters, discovers it's weakness and must battle them to get to a cure of sorts.The package is good, we get the Unrated version on Blu-ray with a great menu, the DVD copy of it, and a Digital version.Find a good price for this one, folks. I got it for $4.99.
