This is a good start for anyone beginning to aquire a real set of knives. The Chef's and the pairer are probobly the most used knives in any kitchen. And Wusthof is unmatched in quality. You can get more expensive small manufactuter "boutique" knives, but Wustof is a great choice in my opinion. I have been using them for years. This set was purchased as a second pair to keep in my my knife roll for traveling.

Beautiful knives to use, very well balanced and heavier duty than the WUSTHOF "Gourmet" line I was replacing. Razor sharp straight out of the box. For longevity, hand wash and dry, do not put in dishwasher! These knives also fit in the Gourmet knife block. At the time I purchased these, Dillards was $15 less expensive than buying directly from WUSTHOF or from Williams-Sonoma for the exact same two knife set. I wish Dillards carried more of the Classic line of knives. I highly recommend these knives.

Very disappointed the Wusthof knives are blunt out of the packet. It makes me wonder if they are genuine or fake. I have a Kitchen Devil knife costing £5 that does a better job.
