Instead, what you have is a very involved story that...just isn't a Xeno____ game.In fact, it fails to do anything to really expand upon what we received even in Future Connected (XBC1), so that whole segment is essentially now a plot hole. So, if you're new to the series, none of that will bother you, but you'll definitely sense the blandness of characters eventually and if you played Tales of Arise, you'll see the obvious parallels, down to swords being pulled out of whatever. If you're not new to the series, I'll put it this way. Is it better than...Xenoblade Chronicles 1? YES. By far.Future Connected? NO. Future Connected was WAY better than the base game.Xenoblade Chronicles X? It's subjective. I thought X was terrible, but it has a following for its "freedom". If freedom is what you like...then no, X is better because 3 gives you very little freedom for at least the first 10 hours of the game and even then, all but two maps are late game, basically fancy corridors like Final Fantasy XIII, but "outside".Xenoblade Chronicles 2? NO. Battle engine is better, chain attacks are better, it's longer...but it's not a better game.Torna: The Golden Country? NO, absolutely not. Some complained about the "forced" quests, don't see why that's worse than XBC3 having too many quests and basically requiring you do half of them. Torna is easily the best of the series at this point.Also...the cover art is grossly misleading.

Incredible JRPG. I have many fond memories of playing classic JRPG’s growing up, however, in recent years I feel like JRPG’s, in general, haven’t matched the quality I remember. The Xenoblade Chronicles games have been an exception to that, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has become my favorite in the series, and also one of my favorite JRPG’s EVER. The story is sooooo good. The characters are all extremely well written, and I loved every single one. The combat system is one of the best I’ve ever experienced in a JRPG (similar to the first two games, but refined). The game easily clocks in at the 70-80 hour mark, but offers dozens more if you’re into side quests. The soundtrack is also one of the best I’ve ever heard. Xenoblade Chronicles is such a special series. The first is one of my favorite games of all-time. I had some issues with X on the Wii U and with 2, but they are both incredible games in their own right and I love them. Xenoblade 3 though? The more I think about it, the closer it gets to dethroning 1 as my favorite in the series and one of the best RPGs I've ever played. That's why it pains me some times that the series seems to be chronically (see what I did there?) overlooked. It doesn't have the mainstream, family-friendly, pick-up-and-play appeal of many Nintendo franchises. Since it is on an under-powered Nintendo system it doesn't get the acclaim that many other deep, story-driven games do on something like Playstation. But these games are incredible and 3 might be the best one yet for series veterans and newcomers alike. The gameplay feels more beginner friendly than it ever has while not feeling dumbed-down. The story gives enough callbacks to satisfy most series fans but can also be understood disconnected from previous games if you have never played a Xenoblade. The sidequests entwine with the story and themes of the main quest and combine with the huge, beautiful world to make going off the beaten path well worth your time. Everything else --the world building, the characters, the voice-acting, the music, the technical design -- is all among the very best you can find on the Switch. If Xenoblade only ever sells enough to justify being able to make more of them, I'll take it. But Monolith Soft is one of Nintendo's best developers, Xenoblade 3 is one of the best games on the Switch, and what is now the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy is possibly my favorite trilogy in all of video games. To miss out on this journey would be to do yourself a disservice. If you've never played one before, give Xenoblade a shot!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an epic conclusion to the story started in the first game, and even carries on the themes and parallels the original Xenogears. The combat is the best the series has had, and the world is vast and beautifully designed. The main six cast are all incredibly deep and human, while also retaining the comedic charm of past Xenoblade party members. I should also mention I felt the Hero system was a vast improvement over the Blade system from 2. It allowed much more character depth than the blade quests, and the heroes all had enough side content, including their ascension quests, to make them feel like real characters in the world. The plot was gripping, with an intense emotional climax in the fifth chapter. Some elements of the last two chapters did feel a bit weaker, but they still delivered satisfying callbacks (in the inclusion of Nia and Melia from previous titles) and a tearjerking conclusion. I'm excited to see where the additional story in the expansion pass will take us.
I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced, and it's been all I'd hoped and more so far! I'm 40 hours in and just started chapter 4, it's definitely a Xenoblade game as I've been enjoying side questing and exploring just as much as the main story. As well as the gameplay, the environments and music are top tier as expected (part of why I love exploring). The characters are all amazing: great designs, voice work, and of course the dynamics between party members really make them feel like a great team as well as friends. The class system is also really interesting and is fun to customise and experiment with!Overall, if you're looking for a nice long JRPG to get stuck into, I'd recommend this 100%. If you've already played them, pick this game up and get started - you won't regret it.
Definitely the best game in the series but also a great jumping off point for new players. This game gets right into it with the story compared to the previous games which had a slower start. It expands on both game's combat while having far better tutorials than the previous titles and introduces features step by step but unlike Xenoblade 2 it's done very naturally and doesn't feel like a hinderance. Build crafting is incredible also. The Heros also come with higher qulity side quests which were one of the weaker aspects of the series. While there are still many basic fetch quests overall each colony's quest lines have more defined arcs and completing them will reward you by unlocking some of the more higher production value quests. This is the game I wanted Final Fantasy 15 to be. Open world JRPG done right. The way the gameplay mechanics and the exploration and the character interactions and story all come together, is incredible. Like other games in the series story and characters are the best part of the game. I completed the story last night and it was jaw dropping good. It will stay with me for a long time and was a fitting end to the trilogy. Xenoblade chronicles 3 is going to be my personal favorite game of the year and possibly one of my favorite of all time. Absolute incredible journey from beginning to end. I clocked in 80 hours to roll credits but their was probably at least 50-70 more hours of side quests, bosses and places to explore. I never quite clicked with all the previous games in the series. Some of that was timing, some of it was the hardware and some was just the previous games never quite say smooth with me as a veteran gamer.Xenoblade 3 though, so far has been superbly designed. It's finally a bit more grown up with English voices (not American) although the original Japanese voice overs are here too.It maybe on Switch and that's quite the steep drop technically when playing on a SX and PS5 but somehow X3 works so well on Switch. It feels good, looks good for the hardware and sounds incredible...no surprise with Mitsuda's involvement in the soundtrack.I am nowhere near to completing the game. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a phenomenal game. It takes all the best parts of previous entries and expands and improves upon them. The story is great, the soundtrack is superb, the gameplay is fantastic, and the voice cast is the best in the series. If you're a fan of Xenoblade you are definitely in for a treat. And for those who have yet to play a Xenoblade game, here are a few tips. Don't rush the story, do as many side quests as you can (they are a big focus of the game), and don't give up early. Heed that last part especially. It may feel a bit slow at the beginning but as the game progresses it opens up tremendously and becomes mega fun.Oh, and don't be intimidated by that 3 in the title. Xenoblade 3 is about average at best and it's all thanks to the terrible subtitles for those that like these games with Japanese audio. Commander dying and have the character screaming out their name? Instead of the clearly said name of the Character dying they instead use "Ma'am" as the subtitles! Sounds like good solid subtitle work right? Seriously the game mechanics are fun and overall the game would for me be at least a 4/5 but the subpar subtitles holds it back a lot along with the game stuttering and glitching 3-4 times.Comparing this game to the last title also let's it down in my opinion. While not nearly as let down by it as by the subtitles the way the game handles fan service takes a nose dive. I have no problem with this to an extent but I wish they ... MoreXenoblade 3 is about average at best and it's all thanks to the terrible subtitles for those that like these games with Japanese audio.
