Good shoe with room for improvement

Overall it fits well and true to size. I have a medium width, lowish volume foot with a narrow heel, and a Plateau2/Orient toe shape. I use it for pickleball on a hard court surface. It feels fast, stable and mobile. Laterals and quick sprints feel good. Stops and direction changes I slip inside the shoe a bit causing occasional toe bumping the end of the shoe and some friction under the ball of my foot. I get this in other shoes and think part of it is the roominess I like from the wide toe box and midfoot-instep design. Most shoes do this where the sole is held to the foot by the upper, but a few treat the foot as a 3d object and hugs the midfoot-instep securely; I’d prefer the later. The lace system holds securely to the sole platform, but I do use the heel lock ... MoreOverall it fits well and true to size. I might have preferred if the heel collar was a bit more plush and the cup of the heel counter was a few mm deeper. Overall I like the shoe enough to get a second pair and am tracking wear to see how they hold up (2hr pickleball session seems to yield roughly 3miles depending on downtime of course).

I love them with a caveat

They did very well with these shoes.Secondly, the support and feel with these shoes are great. I primarily use them for pickleball which requires a lot of lateral movement. I never feel like my foot slides or shifts. The shoe is a bit narrower than other shoes I own, like my Lems Primal. The 360's, according to my measurement, is 107mm vs the Lems which are 117mm. While they are narrower, they don't feel too skinny. I have even read reviews of peole complaining they are too roomy. As someone with very wide feet, they feel great.Along with the durability of the uppers is the way they costructed the soles to connect with the upper material. I have often times had shoes (including other Xero shoes) come apart at that area. I have never had an issue with these shoes. Well done Xero!I also think they look great. I have had more compliments while wearing these shoes than any other shoe I've worn. Now to my complaints with the shoes. My issue with the shoe lies in the soles. To be clear, the soles lasted about about 6 months before I burned holes through the toes of the shoes (I have had 4 pairs and this has happened with all of them). Like I said, I only play pickleball in them. I play, on average, about 3 times a week and 2.5 hours each time. If, for example, I am running the equivalent of a 10 minute mile the whole time I'm playing (which I DON'T think I am, I am just being VERY generous with my numbers) then I'm going about 170 miles in a month while playing pickleball. If the shoes last 6 months then I'm getting just over 1,000 miles in each pair of shoes. I would have to multiply that by 5 before I even get to Xero's 5,000 Mile warranty. To summarize, I am blowing through the sole in a fifth of the time that they say the shoe's soles should last. They need to work on the construction of the sole. I wore through 3 pairs of Xero's Prio shoe and the sole was better constructed than the 360's sole. I never got through the sole of the Prio before the upper fell apart. From what I've seen, I believe they changed the construction of the sole of the 360's compared to the Prio. The other thing that I wish they would change with the 360's is the thickness of the sole. With it being a court shoe it is a little too thin for my liking. I have hurt my heel a few times with these shoes just because I need a little more padding. I know that people say that you just need to strike differently with your foot (Don't heel strike). But when playing a sport like pickleball, or tennis for that matter, sometimes to get a ball, you're foot strike isn't ideal. I hope that in the future they experiment with a little bit of padding for court shoes. I think even just 4mm would help a ton.In short, I love these shoes. They are comfortable, durable (except for the sole) and they look good. It's a great shoe. If they kept everything, the zero drop, the minimalist look, and the fit, and added a few things to improve it, such as a little extra padding (4mm) for court shoes, and a better constructed sole, it would be a 5 star shoe for me.

I love wearing them, but please bring them to life with color!

I wear these for perhaps one of the more challenging footwear environments. Specifically, hardcourt tennis. The sport is absolutely brutal on shoes (and feet) because it's played on concrete that's essentially coated with sandpaper. Most steps are sudden, violent changes in direction with lots of pivoting on the balls of the feet. These shoes are the first that haven't destroyed my toes every match. They are absolutely perfect because they are tight enough to not move and cause blisters, but loose enough to not jam up your toes and causes bruises under the toe nails. I do admit that I use a pair of gel inserts because the hardcourt is a bit too much if you slam down on a heel by accident. You can choose between, "my feet are looking to be ignored forever more" and "my feet seem strong and alive, but might actually be zombies." I say this because everyone loves my colorful HFSs. They ask about them all the time. But when people see my 360s, they seem to want to say something, but then say nothing because they feel my feet just need some space right now. I started wearing these to the gym the day after I received them. So it’s been a few weeks doing a variety of workouts 5 days a week. The quality of construction is excellent and the break in period was almost non existent. It took almost no time at all to acclimate to this style of shoe and they are surprisingly comfortable and give good support and stability. I have only two minor issues with the shoes. First is that for a wide toe box barefoot shoe, the toe box is not very wide. Compared to a standard width running shoe it would be wider of course but it’s about the same width as my Hoka runners in a wide width. I don’t have wide feet at all so, this was a bit disappointing. They do fine on wet concrete walkways and rubber tracks but, most any other surface is more like walking on greased sheet metal. With that being said, I do recommend this shoe just, keep in mind it’s shortcomings.

Now everything from her casual shoes, dress shoes, Sandles and sports shoes are all barefoot. We have since purchased xero shoes for ourselves and our seven kids. Here’s a picture from when we were sorting through and cleaning the shoe rack the other day. Surprisingly there are still some that are not included in this picture. Xero needs a shoe that can handle sports like pickleball. The lateral movement and hard courts are very hard on shoes. My 12 year old wore completely through his 360’s in 5 months. He plays about once a week. Also developed several holes in the outside mesh. The mesh did not affect the shoes as there was other support under that layer. I would love to see a regular layer of rubber like they have now with the addition of a harder layer of rubber that can handle outdoor courts like pickleball and tennis. That would give a little more foot protection for the hard courts and better durability. Even before they wore though the combined insole and sole were almost like being barefoot it was so thin. When the court is hot, that heat can be felt in the shoes making them very warm on sole.Waiting for a true court shoe to round out our colection of xero shoes.

My new go-to all around trainer...
24 September 2024

I am always looking for great trainer for lifting, agility work, jumping and sled pushes, etc. and this fits the bill. When I wear shoes, I'm looking for something that is flat, wide, flexible, and as low to the ground as is comfortable for a given activity. If that activity is a very controlled, non-reactive environment, like going for a run on the street, I will generally go barefoot or with as little shoe as possible for the conditions. Fortunately there are multiple natural foot shoes out there that serve this purpose, including Xero.If I'm playing hoops, which is very reactive, has a lot of contact and you cannot always control your ground contact, I will wear more traditional basketball shoes with lots of lateral reinforcement and more cushion. ... MoreI am always looking for great trainer for lifting, agility work, jumping and sled pushes, etc. and this fits the bill. When I wear shoes, I'm looking for something that is flat, wide, flexible, and as low to the ground as is comfortable for a given activity. Unfortunately, none of the major basketball shoe brands have the wide toe box that is comfortable for me, so I sometimes losing toenails.Where I believe the 360 stands out is a great all around trainer, including lateral agility and jumping. It is flat, wide, and flexible, but unlike many fully minimalist shoes, it does have enough lateral stability for cutting, and just enough cushion/stack height to reduce lateral sheer stresses on the balls of the feet that can occur with some of my other shoes. For example, I have Vivobarefoot shoes that feel great on, and with inline activities, but will roll under my foot with hard lateral work, and generate hot spots with agility drills. The 360's do it all well, and are my new go-to all-around trianer.

I wanted to wait until I used the 360's long enough to warrant an honest review. Now, I have. I have been running in minimalist shoes for about a year, but just discovered Xero shoes. Wow! I'm sold. I don't have pain of any kind in my joints or legs/feet generally, but now when I put on a "comfy" pair of dress shoes that includes a butt load of cushioning, my knees hurt. So, no pain with barefoot shoes or going barefoot itself, but discomfort with "protective" shoes. Go figure.I purchased the 360's and HFSII's in size 12. I love them both. The 360's are a bit roomier, while the HFS II's are a bit snug, though not uncomfortable. I use the HFS II's for road running, sprinting and distance training. The 360's are my gym shoe, however, I love them so much I find myself always putting them on for anything casual as well. I need a good dress shoe and casual shoe from this company! I wouldn't wear anything else honestly. I see reviews about about people having like 12 pairs of Xero shoes, which seemed a bit extreme at first, but now that I have joined the club, I understand! That will likely be me over the next few years, funds considering.I use my (Asphalt color) 360's for: Powerlifting, tabata/tempo workouts, Kettlebells, CrossFit/functional fitness workouts, sleds and tire flipping, strongman type workouts...pretty much anything in the gym that covers a broad spectrum of function and form. They are grippy, very comfortable, no lateral slippage or heel sliding - a fantastic shoe. I don't even notice I am wearing them, which means they are doing their job, and means more focus for the task at hand.I also use them for boxing. They are great for heavy bag work, footwork drills, one-on-one coaching sessions with focus mitts, and great in sparring matches. I have used them in the ring for sparring and I am quite pleased. Obviously, consider your ankle strength and needs for low-cut vs full coverage gear, but for me I don't have problems with low-cut footwear. Didn't for football either, so these shoes are light, grippy, and super flexible, which is a feature I LOVE. Great shoes! And with the 5,000 mile warranty - Highly recommend! Go get a pair now - seriously. Try them out for yourself. I researched and researched other people's opinions, but after actually pulling the trigger for myself I'm glad I did, they are in fact that good.Whether you want a casual gym shoe, a serious workhorse gym shoe, stable lifting foundation, or a boxing/martial arts flexible and grippy shoe, this pair will serve you well. Looks good too I think, though I understand that is subjective.

Great ground contact feel with my 360s. Stable on my foot while walking, jumping, stepping, weight training, etc. Great construction.Unfortunately, I don't really consider these a full featured barefoot shoe and they miss the mark for me.Botomline is that Xero Shoes are too narrow in the toe box. They are wider than many typical non-barefoot shoes, but they are not cut to the shape of a human foot adapt(ing) to barefoot. The width accross the ball of the foot for my slightly wide feet is great. However the toe box itself is too narrow for a barefoot shoe.I think they are an okay transition shoe to get there, but once your toes adapt to having extra room, these shoes are still **much**too narrow at the front.I believe my Keens may have a more natural tow box ... MoreGreat ground contact feel with my 360s. However the toe box itself is too narrow for a barefoot shoe.I think they are an okay transition shoe to get there, but once your toes adapt to having extra room, these shoes are still **much**too narrow at the front.I believe my Keens may have a more natural tow box shape than these. (?)I'd like to see this company shape their sole last to a natural human foot adapted to barefoot v. one already squeezed by typical shoes. They are an okay starting point. Cheers!

These Are Great!
18 November 2023

This is my first pair of minimalist shoes, and I'm so glad I took a chance on Xero Shoes. I'm no super athlete, just a guy who's trying to get moving again after a few years of working at the office. Over the last decade, I have hated shoe shopping. I go to regular shoe stores and nothing works. Those "normal" shoes are too narrow, nothing has enough volume, the arch support is awkward, and everything feels bad. I finally watched the Xero Shoes add and started doing some research on minimalist footwear. I bought a pair of 360s in September and was blown away by how good they felt. After wearing these for a few hours, I nearly lost my balance when I put my old shoes back on. These are so much better. I have been wearing them to work out and to walk around town. Even on a rocky hike, they performed really well although I have since purchased a pair of Mesa Trails II which was slightly better suited for the task given the lugs. I'm a fan, and I purchased a second pair of 360s in another color this month. I also like the Denver Leather Boot. Hope this helps someone!

Xero 360 Great for Pickleball!
25 November 2023

I happen to see an advertisement on Facebook of a gentlemen saying he used his Xero 360 cross-training shoes for pickleball. I immediately told my wife about it because she was in the market for that type of shoe for pickleball. She ordered her 360 shoes and loved them, so I ordered some for myself. Let me just say that I absolutely love these shoes! The fit is perfect! I ordered my natural size (9.5), and the fit was spot on! Plenty of room in the toe box area, and plenty of room between my toe and the end of the shoe. I have other dedicated pickleball shoes from other companies, but after a two-hour session of playing pickleball, I would go away with foot pain, knee pain and shin splint pain. Not with my Xero 360 shoes though! I’ve played numerous two-hour or more pickleball sessions wearing my Xero 360 shoes, and not once since wearing them have I experienced any foot pain, knee pain or shin splint pain. It’s amazing! With these shoes, the pain is simply gone…non-existent! I’m so happy with my Xero 360 shoes for pickleball, I recently ordered a second pair! Thank you Xero shoes for making pickleball enjoyable and totally pain free!
