I bought my prio neo in the blue color way in January 2024 after many hours of research and reading reviews. I am a nurse and work at a busy infusion center. I am on my feet sometimes the entire day and work on hard unforgiving floors. I wore hokas before this and never thought that all of the support and cushion were actually detrimental to your foot and overall health. I went the opposite direction with xero shoes and have not regretted it at all. These shoes were extremely comfortable out of the box and are some of the most flexible and lightweight shoes I’ve ever worn. I am almost always a 9.5 with fairly narrow feet and got these in 9.5. They fit well and I have plenty of room in the forefoot to let my toes spread and flex freely. The shoe still feels secure in the midfoot and heel areas which makes the shoe feel like nothing when you wear it. After walking in them the first week, I noticed I could really feel my foot striking the ground and my heel would let me know when I wasn’t waking with good form. I find that I walk ā€œlighterā€ now if that makes sense and my stride has shortened. Heel striking has become a thing of the past now and I find myself landing more on the mid to forefoot after some retraining. Funny how even as a nurse, I had to relearn how to walk properly!! The shoes have plenty of grip and although I don’t run/workout in these, I could see them being great for those activities. No durability issues so far, they hardly show any wear after wearing them every mon-fri for over 8 hours. I get plenty of compliments on the eye-catching blue shoes and have had good conversations with coworkers and patients about my barefoot journey. One patient even went and bought a pair of xero mesas after chatting about it! I have since bought a pair of HFS 2, pagosa, prio, ztrek sandal, and daylight fusion hiking boots from xero shoes and I love each of the purchases. Great company, great message and great shoes! Thanks guys!!!

It's awesome not getting blisters until you step on a super sharp rock and it leaves your super strong buff foot brused for two weeks. At some point, our feet are not the same as goat hoofs and we need a bit more protection on the bottom with the same shape and fit of the shoe.2. A court shoe with more sole. It doesn't need to be rock protection, but if you've ever played tennis or pickleball for 3 hours in these, you won't get a blister but you will have a real issue with heal spikes or taking other damage on landings. I could sell an unlimited supply of these at the courts if they just had 1/4" of cushioning.I'm a savage and I had to break down and buy from another brand for court sports. I use these for lifting, sled pushing, etc.If the 360 covers this base, let me know and I'll gladly try a pair and report back on how long the sole lasts on a court.Again, great company and great product. Just make sure you have the right use case and understand that what makes these great for some things makes them hard to use for others.

Great shoe for healing and happiness.

Xero Shoes sent me a free pair of their new Spring ’23 shoe, the ā€œPrio Neoā€, in exchange for an honest review. The Neo is an all-around training shoe that is great for the gym, going for a run, or comfortable for all-day wear in a non-formal work environment. It has colorful designs that pop, but aren’t too loud for khakis. They are very lightweight, flexible, comfortable, and freeing – in any ways feel like being barefoot. They have a durable welded construction the high stress locations around the toe box and the lace holes, and that signature Xero tensioning system on the outside (the neon green and black strap shown in the picture) that holds your foot into the heel of the shoe as you tighten the laces. They have a durable welded construction the high stress locations around the toe box and the lace holes, and that signature Xero tensioning system on the outside (the neon green and black strap shown in the picture) that holds your foot into the heel of the shoe as you tighten the laces. Like all Xero shoes, this model has that wonderful wide toe box, big enough for fully splayed toes, but not so large that it looks funny.I really think the best way to review these is to compare them to two specific pre-existing Xero models. I know that’s not super helpful if you don’t know them, but if you’re familiar with the classic ā€œPrioā€ from Xero Shoes, this is obviously a variety of that shoe, but I’d say with some improvements for durability and aesthetic, borrowed from another Xero model the ā€œHFSā€. If you are set on some Xero fitness shoes, but can’t decide between the popular HFS or the classic Prio, this is a nice merge of the two. If you’re not sure if you want your tensioning straps hidden within the walls of the shoe, or external, the Neo has one of each. The second set of straps lower on the foot are internal, like the HFS model, but that main one that goes around the heel is external like the classic Prio (and also the iconic look to most Xero shoes). I think this differentiation is mostly for looks, as both systems function well, but I like the compromise.Additionally, the Neo has a welded construction around the toe and near the laces, giving it that sleek glossy look shared by the HFS, but also extra durability. This is my favorite addition. Much like me, my 12 year old son also started with the classic Prio, and when he grew out of them he switched to the HFS. We found that for his all day school wear and playground razmataz, the leather front on the classic Prio wore out much faster than the welded construction on the HFS. However, when he switched to the HFS, he complained about the lack of a finger loop above the heel for quickly putting them on (which the Prio has). For those two reasons alone, I have a feeling his next pair will be the Prio Neo. Lastly, this shoe has the classic chevron sole pattern that is on most Xero shoes and the original DIY sandal kit – which is another thing differentiating it from the HFS, which has a tire-tread inspired running sole. I have not found either sole pattern to be better or worse for running or training in the gym.I try to be well rounded in my reviews and talk about the downsides. This is a solid shoe, and the only negative I can think of would be the lack of color choices. I don’t usually buy black shoes, I’m picky with the colors, and I’m looking forward to seeing this line take off and have more colors available in the future.

Incredible upgrade over Prio!
27 January 2024

I've had the Prio for quite some time and really put the shoe through its paces! It was time for a new Xero shoe. Great timing because I saw that the Prio Neo was a thing. I bought a pair and the look of the black/green in person is amazing. I play arcade dance games (StepManiaX, Pump It Up, Dance Dance Revolution, etc) so being able to feel where I'm at on the pad is important and being able to move my feet quickly without them being weighed down definitely matters. The Prio Neo feel amazing and durable. I love that they have more mesh in them to provide airflow and less weight. I'd gotten so used to how to best tie the laces of my Prio and my HFS shoes. My concerns were put at ease though, the laces are incredibly able to remain tight for extended periods of time. This was not the case with my Prio or HFS, both of which I would have to tighten throughout my sessions. With the Prio Neo, I literally played for 3 hours yesterday evening and my shoes were exactly as tight as they were when my session started. That is no exaggeration. I love these new laces! The Huarache straps work as well as you'd expect them too, they do a great job of stabilizing the foot by providing a comfy fit. The Prio Neo also fits exactly the same as the size I wore for the original Prio. I'm very happy with my purchase and I bet you'll be as well!

Massively overpriced for Canadian buyers

If you’re considering this product from within Canada, please look elsewhere. The shipping fees, including the eventual duties which are not clearly marked on the website when purchasing, bring these to well over $200. Additionally, they do not fit true to size whatsoever. I bought my usual size and these are well over a size too big in length. The worst part about it is returning/exchanging the shoes from within Canada means paying for return shipping fees and losing the money spent on duties—also, if you’re exchanging the shoes, get ready to pay duties again on the new pair. Lastly, and what makes this such a tough pill to swallow, the shoes aren’t comfortable at all. Anywho, I want to stress that if you’re from Canada, it’s not worth the headache and risk to buy these. I’ve purchased other barefoot shoes before and this was by far the most disappointed I’ve been because there’s no way to get a refund without losing more than half of what you paid.

Neo but not really Prio
3 February 2024

Having happily worn the original Prios for a few years, I decided to try the newer upgraded version. My original shoe was a little too big, but provided room for my toes so I didn’t have a real problem. I went half size smaller for the Prio Neo. I was initially happy with the fit of the new shoe. After several weeks, I noticed the toe box wasn’t as flexible as the original Prios. It pressed against the outer part of my left foot causing rubbing and pain which never happened with the originals. I believe that this is the result of the ā€œimprovedā€ design of the new shoe. The adjustable straps in the fore foot of the original Prio are missing. In their place is a fully stitched-in panel which doesn’t stretch enough for the wideness of my foot. Going on from the pain issue, I believe the shoes are causing stress on my joints because of the lack of flexibility as I am wearing them while playing table tennis—the soles are ā€œstickyā€ but the material in the uppers doesn’t allow my feet to adjust to the twisting as I quickly move around. Final verdict: They just don’t feel comfortable and I wish hadn’t decided to ā€œupgradeā€.

Really Glad I Found These

For several years, I have suffered with painful condition in my right foot that actually was caused by custom made prescription orthotics. Whenever I wore closed toed shoes, it felt like the ball of my foot was constantly being squeezed. I've tried cortisone injections and PT for my foot, but nothing has given me any relief. My foot specialist recommended a very risky surgery. It was so painful that had to remove my shoe whenever I was standing. Anyway, I decided to try a wide toebox shoe and happened on Xero. They have made a world of difference. I can wear them all day and at the end of the day my foot is not throbbing. I don't know that my foot will ever fully recover from decades of being squeezed into narrow toed shoes, but my Xeros are definitely helping. But I'll have to blame my parents for that, not the shoes.

Overall I think the shoe is very good. I wasn't much of a fan of the original prio, but this could be my favorite Xero shoe for all around athletic wear. Unfortunately I wish I had gone a half size smaller. I ordered my usual size, which is what's suggested, and after wearing them for a few walks and runs I think they are a little too long. Feet are sliding around a bit much and it's hard to lock down my heels without the extra shoelace holes commonly found on running shoes. For pros, I think this is the best color lineup out of any of the Xero shoes. Big fan of the grey with black and red accent. Would love to see this style on other shoes. The base of the shoe is more flexible than the HFS II, which I found to be a little stiff. Upper material is nice and the shoe overall is very comfortable. The only cons I have are the size feels a little long, it would be nice to have the extra shoelace holes to help with the foot lockdown, and I'm not the biggest fan of the external huarache straps, though I don't think they look bad.
