The Prio Neo is a great choice whether you want it for athletics/fitness or just an all-around sneaker, or both. I was sent a complimentary pair in Asphalt/Black to check out and give them a try, and then provide honest feedback about my thoughts and experience. These are really nice looking, comfortable sneakers that offer critical minimalist-shoe features such as a wider toe box, low stack height, zero-drop, flexible, and light weight. The mesh upper is breathable and pliable, and the collar is nicely padded with good achilles and talus notches allowing the ankle to bend and function comfortably. There are adjustable straps designed into the lacing system so you can fine-tune the fit to your personal needs/preferences by how much tension you use as you lace them ... I left mine "loose" and went for one of my typical 6-mile runs and I did not have any issues (other than it was exhausting...I am [almost] always barefoot - ANYTHING on my feet is noticed, particularly when I run, even something as incredibly comfy and minimal as the Neo). It was windy and snowing that day and the hilly asphalt and chipseal country roads I ran were soaked and puddled. The shoes gripped great, I did not slip on the wet or gravel surfaces, I felt stable the entire time. I did not wear socks and these sneakers were extremely comfortable with no rubbing (and considering that I ran for six consecutive miles, it was wet weather, the shoes were brand new, and I don't usually wear shoes at all, this is quite impressive!). Given the weather conditions at the time, I was also really grateful for the extra visibility provided by the vibrant neon yellow hi-viz accents on the black shoes. Overall, I was extremely impressed with these sneakers. While running barefoot (no shoes) is still my top choice by far, I could wear these if I needed shoes, and that's saying a lot as a barefooter. I foresee many will find the Prio Neo as a near-perfect running shoe, or do-anything shoe for that matter. Highly recommend!

The Prio Suede is a nice looking, inconspicuous minimal sneaker. The suede and mesh upper with the tan gum rubber sole makes these reminiscent of sneakers I wore and loved as a kid (when I was lucky enough to have them). The difference is, these are not pointy-toed or cushioned and restrictive! Oh, if only I had *these* back then! The tensioning straps at the midfoot and instep allow you to adjust the snugness to your personal preference, for a more custom fit. While I very vey rarely wear shoes myself, I realize not everyone can or wants to be barefoot, and I think Xero Shoes are a great alternative so I am thrilled to try them out and give feedback. I wore the Suedes all day straight out of the box and with no socks, doing house chores - moving around, changing directions, squatting, getting on the floor and getting up, going up and down stairs...just a day in the life at home. Other than my feet got sweaty (I sweat in ANY footwear, even sandals, so I can't judge), I had absolutely no issues with them. Next day, I took out the removeable insoles for even more roominess, flexibility, and ground-feel. Certainly not barefoot, but if you want/need to wear shoes, I think these are an overall great choice for every day comfortable wear, from home, to school, to errands and more.

Immediately, my gait was strong and steady. No wobbling, off-balanced steps, or limping. No listing or leaning to one side or the other. Just even, well-balanced steps. I could feel my hips were more in line and more engaged than they have been in a very long time.My hips and lower back have suffered through a lot of pain over the years. Walking in my Xero shoes made a lot of that pain go away. I also have neuromas in both feet and the small, narrow toe boxes were causing so much more pain as they squeezed my foot bones together, squeezing down on those neuromas. The relief from that alone has probably slowed my heart rate some. Pain is exhausting and elevates the heart rate. Walking without pain is energizing.I also shoot competitive archery with a compound bow and balance is everything if you want to be successful. It was really hard to achieve a peaceful balance with my old shoes. I had to open up my stance in order to counterbalance the unsteadiness but it still affected my accuracy. The first time I shot with my Xero shoes on I had a steady, well-balanced stance that allowed me to focus on other parts of my shooting process to improve my accuracy.Buying my Xero shoes was one of the best decisions I've ever made and I'm excited to see how much better life will be as I navigate it in my Xero shoes!

Transitioning to such a minimalist shoe was weird. I was having such bad foot and back pain from 16 shifts (walking 10+miles on hard floors). I needed something I could wear my toe spacers in as needed to help correct some foot and posture alignment. These shoes helped with the wide toe box (working with the elderly and seeing how our shoes squish your toes over time was eye opening, so this is my favorite feature about this shoe). How lightweight they are helped with fatigue. The lack of heal is my next favorite feature, I hate inclined heals in shoes as it hurts my knees and feet and can cause flare ups in my plantar fasciitis. These minimalist shoes however don’t help much with shock absorption or protection from hitting the sides of your feet, so my feet do feel ... MoreTransitioning to such a minimalist shoe was weird. The lack of heal is my next favorite feature, I hate inclined heals in shoes as it hurts my knees and feet and can cause flare ups in my plantar fasciitis. These minimalist shoes however don’t help much with shock absorption or protection from hitting the sides of your feet, so my feet do feel beat up at the end of the day at times (and also can flare up my plantar fasciitis). I have finally (after years) found a shock absorbing shoe insert that finally makes these my favorite shoes! (Wish you guys at zero shoes made your own just for these shoes so the fit is perfect. could help with transitioning to a minimalist shoe or people with other foot issues?!)These have off and on been my go to shoes for I think 4+ years (for work or for outside walks/biking/errands etc, can’t do hiking the terrain is too rough for me in a minimal shoe my feet feet like they’ve been in a boxing ring). I finally have to retire them after all this time (falling apart in places and I could glue it back together but they have seen so much sweat and puddles and hours of wet feet inside them I can no longer get the stink out even after a baking soda and vinegar bath this time around. Sure beats other shoes where the heals wear down and that creates more foot, knee and back pain. I really appreciate how long these lasted and how much of a beating they took as I don’t have a lot of disposable income. Buying shoes every 6 months for work was killing me, some I was ripping holes in within a month. My biggest con (only other one is the hard impact of these shoes does cause me foot pain without a shock absorbing insert) is sometimes I cannot stand driving in them or any activity I roll my foot back on my heel. The seam of the sole to soft upper part of the shoe just really irritates my back heel and becomes at times very painful! (even without the inserts I put in) Especially for something I have to hold that position for like driving. Maybe something to work on in future designs to help protect the bone and sensitive area there when it is rolled back on the heel? I seriously can’t wear these on road trips if I’m driving because of this and even sometimes switch for my commute drive home. Maybe it’s me (I’m maybe just not there with the flexibility and strength for this level of minimalist shoe?) or daily abuse of my feet cause otherwise these work well for everything but rough/rocky hiking trails.
I have tried three models: Prio, Speedforce, and Neo. Of the 3, the Neos are the best for working out inside on a carpet with Hi-Lo aerobics, aka Zumba, aka Fitness Dance. My workouts involve dancing to youtube videos I have trimmed and burned to a DVD to avoid the advertising at the beginning or end of videos. I follow a number of channels like FitDance, Fitness Marshall, Akshay Jayne (Indian), Kalyan (Vietnamese?), Ilovezumba, DanSa, etc. These give me a world of different exercises to follow in short 3 minute sections. I love that. The variety is endless.I started dancing for fitness after I fell a few times while running. I love that. The variety is endless.I started dancing for fitness after I fell a few times while running. I don't know what to blame, whether being underweight or malnourished, having two different feet, or what. As for the feet, my right foot is flatter and wider than my left. My left foot fits 8.5 and my right fits a 9, most of the time. Buying shoes is a nightmare, or a doubled expense. Plus, only recently have I discovered that my outer toes have bunionettes from the narrower Nike Free Flex shoes I have loved...and now have abandoned. All these led me to my neighbor recommending Xero shoes, and anya's reviews recommended by Reddit forums. I tested out other brands, too, because apparently sole widths can differ by manufacturer. I tried Lems and Freetshoes, too. The wider toebox on the Freets didn't actually do any good, but they were the most comfortable. The Freet shoes, however, emphasized the bump on the sides. The Xero Neros, in contrast, may not be as comfortable and have more grip to the soles (they tear up my carpet), but they hide the bunionettes better. I ended up choosing the Neros for daily exercise, and boy are they great for weight-lifting, too! ❤I bought another pair for my husband, who was also complaining about foot pain.
I’m not a runner but I am daily active in yard work, gardening, large dog handling , food production , house work etc…. I’ve had several foot and ankle injuries over the years and have worked hard on my feet in kitchens .Life changed and I found myself working at home , mostly wearing a soft sole slipper moccasin . So I got use to the no shoe type feel over the years by not needing to wear them much . When I would put my shoes onto leave, even go outside to do work I realized how much they hurt my foot and the injuries felt aggravated . I described my shoes feeling like bricks my feet were locked into and couldn’t move my toes or balance or I found my self using my toes to try to grip the shoe while I walked to compensate for how the shoe fit with injuries .This ... I described my shoes feeling like bricks my feet were locked into and couldn’t move my toes or balance or I found my self using my toes to try to grip the shoe while I walked to compensate for how the shoe fit with injuries .This year I started off the garden season having no idea what I was going to wear on my feet . Shoes are like tools you need to do a job and at points I was in tears because I had terrible tools that hurt and couldn’t do my job . I had to move a truck load of wood chips , a truckload of compost and the yard was a wet mess ….not the type of work like inside where I can just wear slippers …..though I have mowed the yard in them. I struggled through the early spring with rain boots , hiking shoes , closed toed sandals , trying whatever I had but it was stressful and frustrating to not be able to do the work I wanted because I didn’t have the right shoe and some of the days I’d cut short since my feet hurt so bad .I had got some new shoes last year hoping they would be well enough for casual activities and light work at least but I kinda hated them all and couldn’t make it a full day of outside work in anything . I would try to do all the work I needed shoes on for at one time so I could take the shoes off sooner .I knew a needed a wider toe area to spread out and be able to balance and I needed the shoe to stay secure on my foot so I didn’t need to walk weird to keep it on .I had been looking at Xero shoes for awhile thinking that’s what I’m looking for .I absolutely love them . As much as I didn’t want to take a brand new pair of shoes and go move a bunch of compost in them that’s exactly what I did the first day I got them. It is such a huge difference in my ability to do work . I can’t thank you enough for making a shoe that actually fits feet! My feet are protected but almost like I’m not wearing shoes. My feet are actually working with me instead of against me in everything I do because I can use them and balance with my toes. My injuries are not aggravated , even my posture and position is better when I move and work. One of my injuries actually feels better walking outside in these , like things are moving back into place . Since getting these I’ve been able to put in more work and I actually look forward to putting on these shoes to go outside. I’ve gotten them pretty dirty so far but I’m also surprised how they clean up . Seriously, I got a bunch of compost, grass clippings and bird poo all over them one day and wiped them off with a wet towel and they look like new.I kinda wanna sell all my shoes and replace everything with Xero shoes. I love that you have a variety of shoes ,boots and sandals because I need things for all types of weather . These shoes are kinda like freedom for me to be able to go out and not be in pain and just wanting to go home to my slippers. It’s not just physical freedom , being in pain has effects mentally and emotionally , thank you so much ,please never stop making shoes.
I always had trouble with shoes. I'm an woman who's shoe size is 10Wide and only a few brands ever carried my size. I could only find sneakers in my size but even then, the shoes would squish my pinkie and big toes. Basically leaving them red and sore to the touch after a day out. I even had to stop exercising due to the pain my feet were in constantly. Even a 30 minutes trip to the grocery store was enough for me feet to feel sore. The only time I was ever comfortable was when I was just lounging around the house in my slippers. As for these shoes, they're amazing. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the fact that these do not have a wide width sizing like my previous shoes I've had over the years did. I basically went a size up just to be cautious and I'm glad ... MoreI always had trouble with shoes. I'm an woman who's shoe size is 10Wide and only a few brands ever carried my size. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the fact that these do not have a wide width sizing like my previous shoes I've had over the years did. I basically went a size up just to be cautious and I'm glad I did so. My toes just almost hit the ends of the toe box. I have a little bit of room to move my toes around and it's the most comfortable feeling ever. These shoes make me feel closer to the ground because they don't have that 2inches of thick heels on the bottom. So when I walking on rocks, I can feel every little texture I step on. It's as if you're walking barefoot but you still have a little protection. You can definitely count on me being a loyal customer from now on. It's going to be nice being able to wear winter boots and flats without the consequences of my feet getting skin irritations.
TL;DR - Buy these shoes, you'll love them!I just ordered my third pair of Xero shoes, so I figured I'd come back and write a review for the shoes that started it all. Like as the title states, Xero shoes have absolutely ruined me. I expect way too much from other companies, to the extent that trying to just buy a pair of slippers I'm happy with turned into a two week long ordeal.I got the Prios last summer as part of a weight loss effort. Just normal diet and light exercise, going out for walks or playing disc golf. I had heard of barefoot style shoes before, but I hadn't really paid much attention. But I needed a new pair of shoes, and I had seen Xero advertised online, so why not try something different? For those that don't know, the idea behind barefoot ... But I needed a new pair of shoes, and I had seen Xero advertised online, so why not try something different? For those that don't know, the idea behind barefoot shoes is that your foot is actually very capable of doing its own job: Providing proper support for the rest of your body. Pairs of shoes that offer ridiculously thick padding or arch support are actually preventing your foot from being a proper foot. Not to mention the cramped toe boxes that we've come to expect from modern pairs of shoes prevent our toes from spreading out and providing good tactile feedback to the ground and helping us to balance better.Like I said, I had never put much thought into barefoot style shoes, but I liked the design of the Prio, so I figured I'd try them out. The first day I got them, I decided to go out for a walk without the additional (removeable) insole that comes with the shoes. If I'm going to try something new, I might as well go all-out, right?I went out for a 2 mile walk that day at a local park, and it was a euphoric experience. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but hear me out! My walk took me down gravel paths, across wooden bridges, and through grassy fields. Being able to walk through those different environments and feel the different textures of the ground was such a unique sensation. I've never gone on a walk before where I felt so plugged in to my environment, and it's exactly as amazing as you might expect it to be.Remember that whole thing about modern shoes preventing our feet from being feet? After my 2 mile walk, my feet were super sore. Not in a "oh no, I've injured myself" kind of way, but sore like you just got done a good workout kind of sore. After about a week of wearing the shoes, my feet got used to doing their own job again. But that's also when I realized that these shoes absolutely ruined my expectations for other shoes. The nice waterproof hiking shoes/boots that I got for wet outdoor activities? I can't wear them anymore. They're too tight, too cramped, and the thick sole raises me off the ground in an unnatural way that throws off my balance. Steel toe work boots that are required by OSHA? So far I haven't found anything in the barefoot shoe industry that offers steel toes, so I'm stuck wearing super uncomfortable steel toe shoes for work. And I just ordered a pair of the Xero hiking sandals because I know I'm not going to wear the fancy new sandals I got last year with thick soles and arch support. I'm slowly replacing every pair of shoes I can with Xero shoes, they're that much better than everything else I own.One final note before I wrap up this overly-long review. I've seen comments online saying that Xero shoes have quality issues and that they don't last long at all. I put my Prio's through their paces in the first year. I've walked and ran in them (though I don't run much, so your mileage may vary there.) I have played plenty of disc golf in them, which puts a lot of torque through your hips/legs/feet when you're throwing. I've even thrown the removeable insole back into the shoes and used them as my primary shoes for riding my Onewheel. I still haven't managed to seriously damage these shoes, and I'm trying my best!Sorry for the wall of text, but I have a lot to say about these shoes. Give them a shot, you'll seriously love them!
My best friend recently told me about Xero shoes and I am immediately a huge fan. I live in flip flops whenever possible because when I have to wear "real" shoes I get very hot, and they squish my toes and often give me blisters on the little toes and the backs of my heels. I got the Prio Neos and they are incredibly light, they don't squish my toes or and they don't make me feel hot. I have had them for over a week now and have no blisters or discomfort of any kind. The most noticeable difference is they didn't make me feel like I am walking funny to figure out "how to walk" in shoes. That sounds weird, but I have always felt like I walk on different parts of my feet in different shoes. In the Prio Neos I just walk normally and it's very nice. I recently started ... I recently started jogging (aka shuffling around the block) and in these it feels "right" to run. I don't know how to explain that, but I think anybody who hates shoes would probably understand what I mean. I am by NO means a runner, but with these on it's actually more fun. They look and feel really high quality, even the laces are nice. In my opinion, Xeros are cooler and more interesting looking than everybody else's shoes with big chunky soles that all look kind of alike. I went for the black and tennis ball green on mine and I love the colors. I recommended these shoes to other friends and I look forward to trying other pairs too. Can't wait to visit CO and go to the retail store! Thanks, Xero crew.
