I bought this sander based on existing reviews and also the very mixed reviews of the Ozito. The XU 1 works like a dream. I used it for a good 8 hours over two days and it did nit miss a beat. The only minor negative is that it came with just one sheet of sandpaper. The Ozito came with 20 but based on previous experience, the quality of sandpaper disks included withe both both Ryobi and Ozito sanders is very poor. I try as much as I can to buy sandpaper from specialist suppliers where disks are typically half the price and last much longer.

The fabric bag to catch the dust doesn't do a good job as it lets a lot of dust through and fills the whole room with dust. After a few minutes of use the sand paper stops sticking to the pad even though the sandy side looks like it's been barely used.

I used to sand dried putty of the wall, and it broke after using one time! No more than 15 minutes of use, and it would only go a slow speed and ultimately never turned back on. Poorly made, and if I could give this product a 0 star, I would.

Honestly for the price point what more do you want? This sander works very well, used it when building a guitar and to sand back a few doors around the home that needed painting, the inclusion of some sandpaper too was an added bonus. I've had zero issues to date.Xu1 are starting to give their big brother Ozito a run for their money.
I tried using it twice. The sandpaper comes off it about 2 seconds if you put ANY downward pressure on it. Save money and get a better quality machine. You’ll thank me.
This sander is good value for money. We used it to strip paint and sand down some plywood. It's powerful enough and easy to hold in the palm of your hand. The sand paper adheres really well without falling off and given the price, can't complain at all!
To be fair i have used it extensively to renovate my house in last 6 months. Motor is getting starting to flutter. Have cleaned it but the brushes are probably on the way out. They look like any easy item to replace by design so was hoping i could buy a set. Nothing found so far.
Bought this yesterday, great little sander, and loved it when I first started using (sanding small hall table) however after 4 hours use the backing pads flick off especially when trying to get into corners/edges. Not sure if replacement backing pad is readily available, but shouldn't need to replace so soon. Would have given 4 stars otherwise
I bought this after being thoroughly disappointed by the ozito sander and I am completely impressed, especially for such a cheap price. It uses the same sanding discs as the ozito so they are easy to get.I’ve been using it to restore and renovate furniture where it’s able to get into a lot of the fiddle bits whilst also being able to take on bigger open areas. I’ve used it to remove paint a d to sand back stain and create smooth surfaces before painting and have been thoroughly pleased with the results.Highly recommend
Bought it a year or so ago. The backing pad soon stopped working = the sandpapers virtually fell off. It lay in my workshop for most of its life as I couldn't find a source for replacement backing pad. Funky I glued a 80grit paper to the pad, ofused that for a while ... Then dropped the XU1 into the bin.
