It flops back and forth too easily. You install the dropouts of this thing in your current non-boost rack in an upright position. Tighten it up as much as you can. The dropouts seem thinner than a standard fork dropout and some of my Yakima rack skewers can't even clamp it tightly. I found that over the course of a long drive the bike moved forward and this flopped down. The bike stayed on, but it could have possibly marred my sliders.

Boost adapter works great with my bike rack. The first one that I ordered had a bent end that stopped the axle from sliding through the adapter, I notified Jenson and received a replacement the very next day. Thanks Jenson for the wonderful customer service!

Since I got a new bike with new spacing I had to get this thing. Works just the same as the old one. Pretty solid!
The width is a bit short so that both sides of my Surly Krampus axle did not rest on the lip. It is very hard to balance the bike with one hand and thread the axle through the fork and get it fastened. One side slipped off of the adapter and the bike just about fell on the roof of the car. There are other options where you re-attach the axle to the fork once the wheel is removed, and then lift the bike onto the car. This gives you a stable support for the front end when finishing the attachment. I returned this unit.Also, the width of the original adapter I purchased was miss labeled. I had to return that one to REI and purchased the correct width elsewhere. If you purchase check the width before you take it home.
I initially bought the 100mm adaptor and was bummed to realize I had bought the wrong size. Didn't even consider the boost spacing. So, I was excited to find this at such a good price. It would be better if it had some way of locking and not rotating front to back, but it has not caused a problem in the several times that I've used it. Easy to install and secure.
Not much to say here other than it gets the job done. Seems well-made. Like others have lamented, it's a bit pricey for what it is. That said, it allows me to put my trail bike on the same rack I use for my road bike instead of buying a whole new rig ($$$). I have two of these--one boost and one not. This one is boost spacing--make sure it matches your fork.
Not actually made by Yakima, it says hurricane components stamped on the inside. It didn't fit right at first either and required some "forming" from my shop press.
This product works great in order to adapt my Thru - axle bike to a carrier that is made to carry a fork. Be certain to check whether you need a 12 mm or 15 mm adapter.
Works as expected. Straightforward to attach and install. Held bike without issue.
