Deadbolt broke after 6 months, free spinning leaving me unable to get into my house through the front door and requiring me to disassemble the lock completely. I no longer have a paper receipt for my purchase, so Yale refused to do anything to help, despite me registering the product with them upon purchase. I’m perfectly happy to even purchase another deadbolt, but customer support wouldn’t help.Yale’s response: “like any other electronics these things can happen, and without proof of purchase we cannot provide support”This is a deadbolt. The weak, poor quality metal on the lock failed, not the electronics. Since when did Yale become an electronics company? Now I need to swap out the other lock in my house.

I have never changed a lock before and found the installation very easy to follow. You can follow the pamphlet instructions or use an app with visual and verbal instructions (which I used). I think I had it installed and working in under 20 minutes and have had it for a month now with no problems. I’ll probably change the batteries in a month in anticipation of cold weather so the batteries are fresh for winter (just in case, based on other reviews). No complaints. I’ll probably install another on my back door and garage door.

I looked at Kwikset and other brands of basic and smart electronic locks, and decided on this Yale based on its construction, quality, features and overall good reviews. It replaced the Kwikset deadbolt easily and I didn't even have to replace the striker plate. But I did have to make the bolt hole deeper because this Yale deadbolt extends in a bit further. Also, I don't particularly care that touching any key on the keypad locks the door. I wish it had a dedicated lock key. Just a nit, but inadvertent locking is too easy. Otherwise, we will adapt and it is a really good lock. And kudos to Yale for their packaging. All recyclable cardboard except for a couple of plastic bags to protect the shiny bits. No blister pack or shrink wrap.
I now own 4 of these Yale Assure locks, one for every entrance to my house. I got the M1 module that allows it to work with my Apple HomeKit automation. I have my doors lock at night before bed, and when everyone has left the house. I also like that I can go walk the dog with just my phone and no keys, and then unlock the door with my phone (or the passcodes). I was skeptical about smart home features, but the Yale locks are one aspect I’m satisfied with.
This lock gave us nothing but trouble. To lock the deadbolt you lightly touch anywhere on the touchpad, which means that the deadbolt was alway being inadvertently extended when the door was open. Then when you close the door with the deadbolt extended it causes damage to the deadbolt, door, and door frame.The deadbolt became bent and would not retract all the way electronically meaning the door would not open from the outside because there is no key to manually unlock the deadbolt from the outside.Our lock would not stay connected to our phones so Siri stopped working after the first few month we owned the lock.Eventually the lock started burning through batteries every 30 days or so and was constantly locking me out of the house. Solid lock from a trusted manufacturer. Easy to install but the unusual 2 1/8 hole can be an issue for previously drilled doors,,,,, not a showstopper though. I like the network module option rather than hardwired to a specific network protocol. Looks nice while not being bulky and obtrusive. Would only suggest using this keyless lock when there is more than one access point to the property. Love the ability to change options and set or delete access codes from a smartphone. Installed two in our residence.

It was sturdy and reliable without any issues (to this very day it works great) and it paired well with SmartThings. Since then I’ve become a convert to HomeKit for several reasons I won’t go into here. I have 4 of these for my house and they were worth every penny to automate those locks. TIPS: 1 - Always make sure you have an easy to access door into your house if you're going to go fully keyless. If these locks ever fail, the only way to unlock them would be to do so from the inside. If you have multiple ones of these that are easy to access, the likelyhood of all of them failing at the same time is PRETTY slim, but make sure you have a fallback plan in case that actually was to happen. 2 - Make sure you "hand" these locks AFTER you install them. That's when the lock determines if your door is right handed, or left (the direction in which the bolt actually locks). It's a slight pain in the butt to rehand these locks, as I found out the hard way. The instructions are actually clearly lacking this information, so just follow them step-by-step and you'll be fine. UPDATE 1/25/22: These are still the best smart locks on the market. So much so that I've given them as gifts and everyone loves the reliability and versatility. After almost a year and half of constant use with manual and automated locking and unlocking, I just had to replace the batteries in my locks. They still work as if they were brand new and haven't failed or lost connection once.
This version of the lock is for those people who are not aware that it needs a $130 module to work as a real smart lock. It is also low quality, the locking park jiggles needlessly and it's got lots of plastic parts in it that break easily, so don't drop it while installing this heavy piece of smooth metal. It also has poor customer service and the instructions are not clear as to how to program it. Plus it speaks and beeps loudly, a function that has no volume control or settings. If you're installing it into an existing lock set door, its bulky size makes it fit awkwardly with an existing doorknob deadbolt combination. You are better off with a Schlage Encode or their other Yale Nest lock. But considering the quality of this lock, I would skip any Yale product.
