I replaced a popular brand with the lock. The other one did not provide a reliable ZWave connection to my. Homeseer ZWave hub. This Yale lock works every time. The finish quality of the polished brass is also very good quality.

We sought out Z-wave locks to control with our Ring devices, and the Yale products stood out for their clean, modern appearance and relatively compact form factor. This deadbolt was straightforward to install and program. The only drawback was that it required a little extra drilling of our predrilled metal door (slightly larger than a Schlage product we had on hand that fit without modification). I also found it interesting that the Yale products take (4) AA batteries, as opposed to the single 9V battery found in our other devices. But all in all, it was exactly as we expected.

Purchased this keyless lock to replace the old deadbolt lock. The finish was a direct match to my current hardware and the install was easy for most DIY homeowners. The lock is sturdy and all its features are working as advertised. The mobile app is a great addition and provides easy setup and programming. Overall I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

After installing so many of these, it takes me less than 2 minutes to do these steps as well. It includes the required four AA batteries, and I suggest replacing them with lithium ion batteries when they expire. The next part can require some extra work, depending on how well aligned your deadbolt is with respect to the latch for the handleset in addition to how well the door seals when it is closed. I suggest attempting to lock the deadbolt with the existing deadbolt strike plate to see how things work before making any changes. I have found that I often have to adjust the handleset strike plate so that it latches with the door squeezed tighter against the seal - this typically requires a chisel to physically relocate the handleset strike plate. Once that is done, install the new deadbolt strike plate such that there is no interference with the deadbolt latch. This step is important, as if the deadbolt rubs against the strike plate it will at best wear your battery prematurely and at worst get jammed. Once that is complete, you can sit back and enjoy the beauty and simplicity that is the Yale Assure Lock SL. I really like that this lock does not have a keyed access. There are quite a few options that you can set on this device, such as volume (including off) and one-touch lock which simply requires you to touch the keypad with your hand to lock the deadbolt - such a timesaver when heading out! I installed the Connected by August module (sold separately ) and that allows me to control this from my iPhone directly from the August iOS app as well as with HomeKit. From the August app, I set up geofencing, so it unlocks when I return home. From HomeKit, I use Hey Siri from my iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock the deadbolt. I should note, I also have anAugust Wi-Fi Smart Lock, 4th Generation , and I MUCH prefer this Yale lock over that. The Yale Assure Lock SL simply works better (more reliable WiFi) and has the ability for me to unlock with the keypad.

I looked at Kwikset and other brands of basic and smart electronic locks, and decided on this Yale based on its construction, quality, features and overall good reviews. It replaced the Kwikset deadbolt easily and I didn't even have to replace the striker plate. But I did have to make the bolt hole deeper because this Yale deadbolt extends in a bit further. Not a big deal. Installation was easy, and the setup went fine by following the sparse instructions and a YouTube video. From my reviews of several locks and perhaps not researching this one like I should have, I was hoping to have the feature to set a one-time pass code that would automatically expire after use. I guess that is for slightly "smarter" locks. I can always set the code and then delete it after the intended use, but that is not quite as foolproof and a bit less secure. Perhaps adding a smart module would give me this functionality, but then also give me more features than I need, which is why I wanted a more basic lock to begin with. Also, I don't particularly care that touching any key on the keypad locks the door. I wish it had a dedicated lock key. Just a nit, but inadvertent locking is too easy. Otherwise, we will adapt and it is a really good lock. And kudos to Yale for their packaging. All recyclable cardboard except for a couple of plastic bags to protect the shiny bits. No blister pack or shrink wrap.

The reason why I purchased this particular lock was because it has a keyway. If for some reason the battery dies or if there is a mechanical failure, I can simply use the provided keys. The keypad is very responsive contrary to other reviewers. I use the back of my hands to wake the keypad up and type in my pin code and it quickly unlocks. To lock, just tap the keypad. I paired this lock with a Yale door lever in polished brass which compliments my lock. All in all, I am satisfied with this product!

This is by far the best smart lock I've installed and/or operated. I've installed and operated both Kwikset and Schlage locks, and this one out performed them all. It paired instantly, worked wonderfully, and the battery life is incredible. I have these linked to a Vera home controller and it's aces. The only instance where it might get funky, which really isn't even Yale's fault, is if the door isn't perfectly aligned or you have to press the door by hand to compensate for any trim seal around the frame. That issue aside, it is quiet, super easy to use and program, and looks awesome. The bolt is actually tapered, so it can help make up for a little misalignment, but try to have a smooth action if you can. You'll thank yourself. I have 4 of these for my house and they were worth every penny to automate those locks. TIPS: 1 - Always make sure you have an easy to access door into your house if you're going to go fully keyless. If these locks ever fail, the only way to unlock them would be to do so from the inside. If you have multiple ones of these that are easy to access, the likelyhood of all of them failing at the same time is PRETTY slim, but make sure you have a fallback plan in case that actually was to happen. 2 - Make sure you "hand" these locks AFTER you install them. That's when the lock determines if your door is right handed, or left (the direction in which the bolt actually locks). It's a slight pain in the butt to rehand these locks, as I found out the hard way. The instructions are actually clearly lacking this information, so just follow them step-by-step and you'll be fine.

Without that, this thing really is pretty dumb. You punch the numbers in and it opens. Hardly cutting edge technology. That's it. Also annoying is that if you linger in the doorway or pass your hand anywhere near the pad while closing the door, the deadbolt will open and when you close the door it will smash the heck out of your door frame. My frame is permanently dented from the dozens of times this has happened. I'm going to have to get a metal plate for that spot on the frame and hope that won't damage the lock itself.
