I bought this Integrated from WWS about a year ago and decided to wait until I had sufficient time to listen to it with several different speakers before commenting. Although some prospective purchasers will only notice that outwardly it resembles the less expensive A-S-1200, it should be noted that the A-S-2200 is a fully balanced unit that remains stable at high loads. When I was looking for adequate power in the $5,000 to $6,000 range for my Bowers & Wilkins 702 Signature speakers my concern was whether the power unit could handle low impedence down to 2 ohms. The B&W's are rated at 90 db but they are power intensive and while a lesser amp could power them nicely, a larger amp provides deeper bass and texture to these amazing speakers. The Yamaha engineers are so ... MoreI bought this Integrated from WWS about a year ago and decided to wait until I had sufficient time to listen to it with several different speakers before commenting. The B&W's are rated at 90 db but they are power intensive and while a lesser amp could power them nicely, a larger amp provides deeper bass and texture to these amazing speakers. The Yamaha engineers are so confident about this amplifier that it is rated down to 2 ohms and with large capacators and a stable torridal transformer, the A-S2200 pushes sound quietly and is rated at 105 watts per channel, 190 at 4 ohms and 220 at 2 ohms. It powers the 702 Signatures without breaking a sweat and at $4,500, is built like a tank. One note: it is a classic analog A/B amplifier with ultra modern componants but no DAC or streaming....I added a McIntosh MB500 streamer in the aux input and solved that issue. The MM/MC built in is a nice touch but I still use an external MC step up as I find separates are better in sonic quality, but it is a nice, efficient upgrade. The only other nod to modernity is the XLR input (using the McIntosh with those).Frankly, there is a reason the A-S2200 is often out of stock or on backorder: it simply goes about its business in an uncolored and quiet manner. The ability to handle low impedence at this price point makes it a value in this class.Very pleased and again, World Wide Stereo delivers on customer service.

The Yamaha A-S2200 is an excellent product. It is visually beautiful, but more importantly it is sonically superior. I can't say any negatives about it. I had debated buying it for several months and now that I have my only regret is that it took me that long to pull the trigger. Most highly recommended!

Obtainable Perfection

I have only owned this amplifier for a few months but it surprises me every day. It’s incredibly musical and because I lack the right adjectives I will use the word emotional. I don’t want to sound corny, but it feels like it has a beating heart and is alive (maybe it’s the bouncing meters) because recorded music sounds startling real and my days with it turn into experiences. It’s got incredible detail, an open sound, a creamy midrange, and solid super tight bass. It’s not going to make Spotify sound like an SACD but with its solid phono stage, it will give your record collection a new life. Hi-Res (Qobuz) digital files also sound marvelous when I’m using my RME DAC. If you give this amplifier quality sources it will reward you. Another great thing is that the A-S2200 doesn't need a ton of volume to work its magic. A quarter turn of the volume knob you will be in audio Valhalla.

All i can say is that i have been an Audiophile since i was in high school. like back in 1980. And i have been through a lot of them. Analog ones that is ! and intergraded, I must say that this A-S2200 is the most beautiful one that i have had so far.. Its really that nice in my option.

best amp hands down!
29 January 2024

This amp opens music up. Familiar recording sound different with all exposed. Very musical. The power output is more inline with a 150 wpm amp. Have had the amp for close to 3 months. If you are deciding whether to get this amp go for it! I am very very happy with this purchase! Choose Safe and Sound, the amp was packaged professionally and tight. Great Company!
