The soundbar randomly shuts off with no warning, and appears to literally be random--I've tried timing between shut offs and don't see a pattern. Some days it will stay on all day, sometimes I have to power it back on 8 or 10 times in an evening. I have a DirecTV receiver coming into it via HDMI and another TV coming in via Optical cable. I did this so I could easily switch the sound between the 2 TV's with one click. I have to do that on the app as the remote won't work once I'm more than a couple of feet from it. The sound is great, but way too frustrating to use. I hate I spent money on this as I'm likely going to have to go a different route.

Unfortunately this soundbar failed to live up to the quality the brand name would normally indicate. Within just a few days of set up, the remote control volume buttons started failing to work. I would literally have to exert tremendous pressure on the button for them to work, but that was successful only sometimes. Then after about two weeks, the soundbar would just shut off. Of course it always happened while I was engrossed in a good part of a movie. I would then have to push the power button again. This started happening enough times that I just started turning up the volume on the TV itself just so I wouldn't lose dialog. Very disappointed. Thank God I bought it at Costco. Returning the product was easy but still cost me time and inconvenience.

The unit is thin which helped to fit under the screen of the TV, it has good sound and maybe better if it's mounted on a wall so the main speakers face you, but that's not an option.The only issue we have is while watching TV and for no reason at all the speaker shuts off and the TV speakers turn on, when we power back up the sound bar everything appears normal, we are using an HDMI cable for sound and picture. When it does power back on we loose the "Clear voice" mode and have to change it back.Other than that, it's a nice sounding unit and easy to set up.

Wow! Anker once again has made me a believer. I never imaged the difference that a sound-bar could make. The clarity in voices, the separation in sound and the quality of the audio has given me a new appreciation for sitting down and watching TV / Movies. Before this sound-bar, I would have to raise the volume so high on my tv just to hear the dialogue better - the small TV speakers have such a hard time separating the background music and voice. First, product does not automatically connect to my Samsung TV. My TV will tell me the Yamaha isn't "on," even though it is. So five minutes of trying everything to get them to connect. My visio with the same TV in another room connects automatically. That's the way it oughta be. Once I get it "on," it gets worse. This sound bar is only marginally better than the TV sound. It sounds like a sound bar in another room or like it has a thick towel wrapped around it - or alternately on other settings, like someone put reverb on the TV sound. This unit is a fail.
I've tried different soundbars and was not happy. The only acceptable ones were $500. My other options were getting a setup that comes with a bass tube. I didn't want two separate parts or any frustration in setting the unit up. This soundbar is sufficient and simple. It's exactly what I wanted. Strong enough to fill our TV room, with enough power to hear upstairs! But, not so crazy expensive and powerful that might be needed for a huge movie room or huge living room. Easy to setup with many options on the controller. I love this soundbar. Yamaha delivers!

Unlike my previous soundbar, by a different maker, that was brand new and only lasted 2 weeks before ''giving up the ghost", this one has made it 2 MONTHS already with little to no trouble.The overall sound quality is top-notch and the audio enhancement features are good and easy to use. This unit fits atop of a 6 foot bookcase for us -- thus, discreet and easy to operate with the remote. Direct line of sight. Keep in mind -- I use it as a simpleton! I do use it as a Bluetooth device and that has been easy and seamless with my Chromebook for the NPR news and Pandora music. I wanted to have clear, clean sound -- thus do not use any of the "enhancer" modes. For what I needed, it works perfect. If you want the BIG, full room booming sound envelopment or 3D sound, look for other reviews on how it might meet your needs. We got this item on sale; thus a bargain for a Yamaha product!!!
I love the Yamaha sound bar because it has so many features and modes to listen to the TV. The clear audio mode to hear dialogue better is awesome and it connects to my iPhone or DVD player effortlessly. There are only two problems I have discovered and that is it turns itself off after a period of time and since I sleep with tv on it wakes me up when the sound goes off. Also I connected the Yamaha app on my phone to the sound bar when I set it up but I rarely use it because I have to press the button on the sound bar to let my phone know to connect and I have to press the button on the app to let it know I found my sound bar so not very fun to have to reprogram my app to work everytime I rang to use it. Soundbar was easy to install and connect to my TV. The sound is much better than the speakers in the TV. When watching a movie the surround sound is about what I suspected it to be, I have a full surround system upstairs which this does not compare to but Have little room to place all the equipment in my small living room. You do get the feeling of the sounds filling the room but the sub is not strong enough. The one thing I dislike is the remote, you need to face it directly at the sensor otherwise it does not work half the time. Other than that I would say its pretty good. "#sweepstakes "
