I've been producing rock and metal for 20+ years. Starting with very minimal gear. I mixed for years on a pair of Kody's headphones and did very well. But, I had been wondering if getting real studio monitors would improve my mix quality even more.The first thing I did when receiving these speakers was give them a good look over. I'm spending more time learning how to use it -- such as using fingering in the bass not the default setting, which allows me to play the bass melodically without changing chords constantly while using the styles. I am editing styles to my taste and will do more with that as I become more proficient. And I'm learning more and more of the technology. I am a pianist, and it's hard for me to transition to a machine, but my piano is not portable, and this is. And it allows me different kinds of expression. It satisfies another aspect of me as a musician, not just as a pianist, both playing at home and at concerts. It enables me to produce incredibly beautiful sounds and perform live with it. And I'm getting more used to the action and playing it more expressively. (There's a setting for that too.) If you have a passion for self-expression and have the patience to learn how to use the keyboard in more than the most superficial way, you might love the Genos2 also, both for your own use and for performing. Also there are tutorials and forums, so you are not alone with the technology. I found the psr tutorial forum very helpful, with people who support you with answers to technical questions.

The Yamaha GENOS 2 is a huge improvement on the previous Genos with a more expansive sound down to the professional reverb system throughout the voices and drums/styles department. The displays have been made easier to read and the sliders and rotary control knobs now feature leds which clearly shows the current values plus Yamaha have prevented any sudden changes in volume levels when adjusting the levels.I'm glad I waited for the GENOS 2, well done Yamaha for designing a most user friendly keyboard it was well worth the wait!

There is a lot to be said for purchasing from a retailer solely specialising in keyboards. They know their stuff and have a passion for keyboards. That is certainly true of Keysounds, Leicester, and they are a friendly phone call away should there be any queries whatsoever.The Genos 2 is impressive and a big lift up from my Tyros 5. It’s so easy to navigate and includes many more styles and voices I am now spoilt for choice. Of course do not forget how Yamaha enable you to change and tweak those sounds to your exact liking too. The sound quality is also on a new level, more rich and life-like than the Tyros.
Owning a Genos for about 4 or 5 years and gigged regularly with it, I was doubtful the upgraded Genos 2 could be much of an improvement on its predecessor. I tried it out at PMT's Norwich branch and I was instantly convinced the Genos 2 was a massive improvement. I was fortunate to visit PMT's Norwich branch because the keyboard guy was Mark, who had unbelievable product knowledge. He gave me an introduction to the keyboard then gave me a pair of headphones and left me to it. I purchased the Genos 2, partly because it was so well demonstrated, and partly because it was also the best deal I could find anywhere, prices wise. I've had the Genos 2 now for about three weeks, the transition from 1 to Genos 2 was easy and I was gigging with it 8 days after purchase .
In years gone by, I have owned several Yamaha Tyros instruments, but a few years ago, I switched to organ. However I was never going to be a good organ player, so when Genos2 was released, I decided to switch back to keyboard. I'm very pleased I did. After using Tyros keyboards, most of the operation of the G2 was familiar to me and within an hour of it arriving, I was playing it.. The sound quality is top notch with a more than adequate collection of voices and styles. The keyboard provides everything I need and am more than satisfied. One minor quibble, is Yamaha's decision not to fit a tilting screen. Otherwise everything is perfect. Very good discounted price from Scan Computers and fast next day delivery.
So this was an upgrade to the Stagepas 400i. Mixer blew out a channel (after many many years)so upgraded to the 600BT. Probably was overkill for our little duo as the speakers were VERY heavy compared to 400i. Other than that the system did not disappoint! Excellent sound quality, added midrange controls for 7 channels. These types of PA's being replaced with column systems, but this is still a great deal and sound quality is very good!
